Thursday:
Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger
Topaz is the biggest attacker these guys have --
when it's hitting a monster, anyway.
2,000 ATK isn't too shabby. This is definitely one
of the ones you want to bring back in a swarm
through Crystal Abundance or Ruby Carbuncle's
effect, and is probably one of the first ones your
opponent is going to pick to send to the Graveyard
if they play Rare Value. Its ATK is just enough that
it isn't broken, but is huge when it comes to the
big field swarm.
4/5 for the decktype |

Today we look at Crystal Beast--Topaz Tiger, who is
one of the better attackers for the Crystal Beasts,
but has an effect we have seen before. This monster
has an effect very similar to Steamroid.
Remember him?
Steamroid has 1800 attack and gains 500 attack when
he battles something if YOU are attacking, giving
him 2300 attack during teh Battle Step. However, he
loses 500 attack points when attacked. Here, the
Tiger gains 400 attack when you attack, giving him
2000 attack during the Battle Step, but it doesn't
lose the attack when it is being attacked.
It is an Earth monster of the Beast type, and has
the base 1600 attack, which isn't bad, and a fairly
low 1000 defense for a Level 4 monster.
Like it's friends, it can be sent to an open Magic
or Trap slot instead of going to the Graveyard when
destroyed.

Crystal Beast--Topaz Tiger
5/5
A staple in the deck due to being a 2000 attacking
beast. Nothing much to be said other than that. If
you want to play this theme, run 3 of these. Outside
of the deck, I'd have to say better options exist. |

Crystal Beast – Topaz Tiger
I think I forgot to rate the cards I
reviewed on Monday or Tuesday. Anyways, I was sick
yesterday guys and I’m good to go.
Today’s card is Topaz Tiger.
Topaz Tiger seems to be the
beat-stick of the Crystal Beast monsters currently
released. He gains an additional 400 ATK during the
Damage Step on when attacking the opponent’s
monster. The effect is mandatory.
Personally, I would have a couple
copies of this card in my own Crystal Beast deck
along with the wonderfully broken Sapphire Pegasus.
Last Word:
Topaz Tiger is definitely the main
attacking weapon in Crystal Beast deck. Anything
goes in that deck as long as you win as quickly as
possible. The great thing about these Crystal Beasts
is that they don’t really get destroyed. They have
to be knocked out twice to stay off the field. Even
destroying the Tiger once is a liability to the
opponent.

Now we are starting to get somewhere. The Tiger can
at least accomplish something. Going up to 2000 when
attacking, while having a respectable 1600 for
defending makes this and actually usable card within
the gem beast deck.
Since this is actually one of the stronger beasts it
easily qualifies to be considered to be added to the
build. Outside of the gem beast decks though, there
is little reason to use him, considering there are
much superior cards. Ratings are for in gem beast
deck, outside drop them a full point.

Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger
Level 4
Earth
[Beast/Effect]
If this card attacks an opponent's monster, it gains
400 ATK during the Damage Step only. If this card is
destroyed while it is in a Monster Card Zone, you
can place it face-up in your Spell & Trap Card Zone
as a Continuous Spell Card, instead of sending it to
the Graveyard.
1600/1000
Well this card seems really familiar, just like
Steamroid but no decrease in attack when attacked.
The major problem with this card is that 1600
turning into 2000 only when it attacks, doesn't
really hold it's own in this format. Right now there
are 3 Cyber Dragons in pretty much every deck and
then even after that there are many other cards that
easily get rid of Topaz Tiger. Sure it's good
offense for Crystal Beasts decks, but if it really
came down to it, it wouldn't be played at all in
another knowing Steamroid is out there. Attacking a
Face-Down monster with this won't always be great
with many people playing Gravekeeper's Spy, and
usually 3 to say the least. I just don't see this
making an impact, maybe against the popular deck of
D-Hero beatdown, it can take card of Malicious and
the fusions it turns into by Metamorphosis like Dark
Balter the Terrible and Ryu Senshi. Other than that,
in most decks this won't be a good choice and I
can't see this making Crystal Beasts decks really
great.
Traditional: 1/5 - Pretty Worthless here, but many
Crystal Beasts are in the Traditional format.
Advanced:1.5/5 - I'm going to give it the benefit of
the doubt and give it a 1.5 and not a 1 seeing that
it can take out Ryu Senshi and Dark Balter the
Terrible, which are really popular in the D-Hero
Beatdown.

Crystal Beast - Topaz Tiger
Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger along with pegasus, are
definently the best crystal beast monsters stats
wise, and effect wise. It gains 400 attack when
attacking a monster, which puts it at a hefy 2000
attack that is able to run over almost anything in
the format, short of a cyber dragon and a monarch.
That is pretty impressive. It tears through card
trooper, which is becomming one of the most popular
cards, and can deal 1600 damage to a card trooper
that was left on the field from last turn! This,
along with pegasus, is what makes crystal abundance
so deadly. Being able to bring back up to 5 crystal
beast monsters that range from 1600 to 1800 will
normally mean game.
If I was running gem beasts, i would DEFINENTLY
include 3 copies of this card, because this is one
of the only beatsticks that gem beasts have
available to them.
Ratings:
Traditional: 2/5 could be used here just for its
attack but shouldnt be because their are so many
better cards out there.

Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger
Ahhh, finally we’re getting to the good stuff. Tiger
is the 2nd best of the Crystal Beasts. He has 1600
ATK, which is good these days, but he goes up to
2000 in the damage step when he attacks an
opponent’s monster. This means you take no damage
from running into a face-down spy basically. He can
run over Stratos, which is great, because only 1
other thing that’s 4 stars or lower can do that,
which is Card Trooper. He can’t take down any
tribute monsters, but he’s a very solid attacking
force on the field. Crystal Beast decks run 3 of
these guys, period. Because like I said in a
previous review, if you don’t have powerful effects
to make a theme deck, you have to go with stats, and
this guy actually has both.
RATINGS:
Traditional: No one uses CB’s in traditional. 1/5
Advanced: 5/5 for Crystal Beast decks, 2.5/5 in
others. |
