Masked Dragon
Masked Dragon is, honestly, one of the more
underrated searchers out there. With its new target
thanks to World Championships 2007, that might
change.
He's got a lot going for him -- he can now search
out a piece of removal (Exploder Dragon), as well as
something that will become WELL over 1500 ATK the
next turn (Armed Dragon Lv3), and another line of
searchers (Troop Dragon) for when you need those 5
Dragons in the Graveyard for Dragon's Mirror and
Future Fusion hasn't shown up to do the job yet.
...and there's always Twin-Headed Behemoth as a
great little piece of "guarantee you can tribute
next turn".
Granted, there aren't as many targets for him as
there are for, say, Giant Rat or Mystic Tomato (two
searchers who will see much more play than Masked
Dragon ever will unless something drastic changes)
but he's an excellent searcher for his decktype that
can pull out quite a few tricks.

Dragon :
Isn't the most inventive mask in the world, is it?
Heck, it looks fairly tight fitting to me.
In the vein of Mystic Tomato, this guy ain't half
bad.
He can absorb a few attacks by summoning another
copy of himself and if you find you've got a fair
few dragons with low ATKs, why not through some of
these in your deck. Even though it doesn't have the
obvious utility of Tomato, there are plenty of
interesting monsters you can summon. It is also the
approved method to put Armed Dragon Lv. 3 on the
field.

Masked Dragon
Every monster-type and attribute needs their own
recruiter. Masked Dragon belongs to Dragon-type
monsters, and he is pretty similar to Mystic Tomato
and Co. That being said, he does have some
differences:
1. He can special summon a monster in Defense
position. This is huge actually, especially if you
are staring down Asura Priest, Wildedge, or
Chimerasack OTK Dragon. You can just summon all your
Masked Dragons, one at a time, to thin your deck and
fill your Graveyard for Dragon's Mirror
2. He only has 1100 Defense, which means everything
except Sangan and Exiled Force can destroy this guy
in battle. If your opponent attacks your face down
with his Dekoichi, he is playing right into your
hands.
The only thing that holds Masked Dragon back is the
lack of decent Dragon type monsters with 1500 or
less attack. Currently he has a very small crop of
Dragons to pick from:
- Other Masked Dragons
- Twin-Headed Behemoth (Limited to 1)
- Armed Dragon LV3 (theme specific)
- Exploder Dragon
- Troop Dragon
- Divine Dragon Excelion (meh)
This gives Masked Dragon far less versatility then
his peers: Giant Rat and Mystic Tomato.
But he is a 3-star monster, which makes him the
perfect card for Cyberdark Dragon decks. Since he is
a FIRE Attribute monster, you could also build a
FIRE themed deck with him and UFO Turtle , giving
you a string of 6 recruiter monsters.
I've always loved Dragons, and I long for the day
when they can finally be a competitive decktype.
-------------------------------------------
Traditional:
1/5 - No other Dragons besides the Emperor in this
format.
Advanced:
5/5 - in a Dragon deck, but that's the only place he
should be run.
Card Art:
2/5 - Er...it's a dragon.

Dragon

This is
obviously the best 3 star dragon searcher b/c it
is the only one. 1400 attack is perfect and the
ability to search out exploder dragon, armed
dragon lv. 3, twin-headed behemoth, and the 3
star 1500 from fotb means it has a growing
toolbox. Let us no forget cyberdark monsters
become 2200 beat sticks due to this card. The
fact it fills our graveyard helps 5-god hit the
field. All in all this card has a lot of
potential going for it right now. The more sets
that come out the better it will become. Oh,
let us not forget that like pyramid turtle it
too can summon monsters in def. mode.

So, we open up another week with one of my
favorites.
SOD-EN026-Masked Dragon
FIRE
Dragon/3/1400/1100
When this card is destroyed and sent to the
Graveyard as a result of battle, you can Special
Summon 1 Dragon-Type monster with an ATK of 1500 or
less to your side of the field from you Deck. Then
shuffle your Deck
So, it’s your basic recruiter, for dragons. It’s got
1400 attack so it can kamekaze with another
recruiter, not bad. And it’s quite searchable by
another masked dragon, sangan, witch, last will, and
the like.
Unlike other recruiters, there aren’t very many good
candidates for Masked Dragon to search out when it
gets destroyed by battle. It can get Troop Dragon,
which, if it weren’t for the errata, could be quite
good. It can get armed dragon level 3, which is
obviously valuable for armed dragon decks. It can
get another Masked Dragon. It can get Twin Headed
Behemoth as well. It can also get Divine Dragon
Excellion which is a 5 star, so that helps some.
But, probably the most worthwhile monster it can get
is the new Exploder Dragon, which got reviewed
recently. If only Horus Lv4 had 100 less attack…..
To put it simply, this card belongs in Dragon decks,
especially those that involve Five Headed Dragon,
and those with Cyberdark Dragon.
Traditional: 2.5/5 (Fire in a chaos dominated
format???)
Advanced: 5/5 for dragon decks.

Woot to dragons!!!! Sorry, I’ve always loved running
fun dragon decks on the side, so I love reviewing
them. Masked Dragon being printed made me happy, a
dedicated dragon recruiter that could help speed
things up.
He’s in the stats range expected of recruiters so
nothing special there. The main point is that he can
be used to grab dragons, with my preference being
Armed lv3 to quickly pop out a lv5. He has usual
versatility of recruiters, and shares the same
weaknesses. Naturally outside of a dragon deck he is
essentially useless to most other archetypes.
Traditional: 2.75/5 much more mass removal make him
not nearly ass effective as in advance
Advanced: 3.5/5
Obviously drop the ratings to abysmal for outside of
his intended purpose |

Welcome to what, however inadvertently became fan
request week!
Starting things off is the ever popular monster,
Masked Dragon.
Masked Dragon is essential in the Dragon deck. He
got some new support via Exploder Dragon, and he can
still do more than that. He can pull out Twin Headed
Behemoth or Armed Dragon Level 3 if that's what
you're using.
He is weak with only 1400 attack, but this can help
Dragon's Mirror, and it's and easy dump with Future
Fusion too, assuming you are trying to summon Five
Headed Dragon. Run three in your Dragon deck...it's
not the best searcher, but the best for Dragons :)
He can even bring himself out if you desire, but
that sort of seems to defeat the purpose, unless
it's all you have left, but you should always have
something decent to fetch.
