Radiant Mirror Force

This card falls short of it's big brother Mirror Force, but I feel can see some opportunity in a side deck. We have all seen the now legendary combo of Six Samurai/Grandmaster/Great Shogun. This would be a great opportunity for Radiant Mirror Force. There are also many decks that swarm with Dimension Fusion and Return From the Different Dimension. Beyond that, leave this in the trade binder, or put 1 in the side.

Dark Paladin
Friday

Closing the week, we look at Radiant Mirror Force, a card with some sweetly sick insane art! So, what to say...it's Mirror Force except your opponent has to have three or more attack position monsters, or you can't activate it.

Not bad, a little restrictive, but a new monster destruction card is welcome. Even if you don't want to use it, get one just for the picture. Mirror Force is a staple, this is not, yet it isn't bad. We aren't very conservative this format as to how many monsters we keep on the field, even with Mirror Force frolicking about.

Ratings:

3/5 all around, just as that's the number of attack position monsters it needs to function properly

Art: 5/5 Almost as cool as Mirror Force itself

See you in two weeks!

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Radiant Mirror Force
Trap
Activate only when your opponent declares attack while they control 3 or more Attack Position monsters.
Destroy all Attack Position monsters your opponent controls.

This card has potential to be good, only if your opponent to plays into it. The only real decks this can cause a problem for is Six Samurai and potentially Bazooper if they don't have Jinzo. With DDT taking a huge blow with Magical Stone Excavation being limited as of today, it won't be as effective against it.

Six Samurai is a very explosive deck, and can swarm the field blazingly fast, and now with Crystal Beasts being able to swarm fast with Crystal Abundance, Crystal Guidance and Crystal Contract. These cards can make More and more monsters to get on the field.

Though I don’t think card is much better than Needle Ceiling or Lightning Vortex. Needle Ceiling, there does need to be 4 or more monsters on the field but it can destroy all face up monsters, it can get rid of goats and also better if your opponent has monsters in defense mode.

To activate the card, you need to have your opponent attack and have 3 attack position monsters. That isn't always easy. Yes in this aggressive format, it can be done a lot easier as many players do overextend at times, but it's not going to be better than mirror force and can't be as good of a card as Needle Ceiling against many matchups.

Advanced: 1.5/5 It has the potential, you just have to be able to have your opponent to play into the card, yet it won't be as good as alternative cards against Six Samurai and Crystal Beasts.

Traditional 1/5 Radiant Mirror Force wont be such a big factor with Duster being around and other cards that hinder Radiant Mirror Force

Art: 3.75/5 Looks really good, looks explosive and the art really compliments the set.

Radiant  Mirror Force

Definitely not as versatile as mirror force, but still a good card when playing against aggressive/poor players.  This is a balanced card, but cards like Mirror Force and Justi-Break often tend to be 1 for 1's or at best 2 for 1's in competitive duels.  So with this in mind I ask you why you would risk drawing this when your opponent is top decking?  Why risk hitting this when you are top decking?  In today's format (and those of the future) most cards will involve either trooper, gem, gadget, monarch, etc. in their name.  Thus the bonus of killing extra monsters will probably already be nullified.

Radiant Mirror Force

Ahhh yes. The replacement Mirror Force.

Looks to me like we’re having Mirror Force nixed on the next Ban List.

It’s not bad replacement for Mirror Force despite its hefty cost.

Last Word: Not much to say on this one. It’s Mirror Force but with an actual cost.

Lonely Wolf

Friday, June 1st

Well, it's the first day of June, and to start it off we look at a watered down version of an old favorite.

Radiant Mirror Force

Normal Trap

Activate only when your opponent declares an attack and controls 3 or more Attack position monsters. Destroy all Attack position monsters your opponent controls.

It's a Mirror Force with a much steeper activation requirement.  THREE ATTACK POSITION MONSTERS.  Most players won't attack with more than 2 monsters at a time, especially not without something waiting in the wings.  And a good deck won't let the opponent get 3 monsters out in the first place.  And plus, right now we have regular Mirror Force, plus Sakuretsu and Widespread.  Why play Radiant Mirror Force right now?

Sorry for the short review. But with a better version playable, and how hard this one is to use, there isn't much point to this card right now....

Randiant Mirror Force?

Radiant Mirror Force

Radiant mirror force has some potential in the side for people who like to side against certain types of players. In this case, this card would be a great sidedeck choice against aggressive players or players using hydrogeddon. It has a high requirement to use, but if it goes off, it is effectively another mirror force.

It has some potential in a control deck that is slow and has problems with getting rushed. If in your area people play decks that swarm, this could easily be your second mirror force, which can be game breaking. Its worth a try, so have fun!

Ratings:

Traditional:
1/5: to many cards that can be ran over this
Art:
3/5: its mirror force on a bigger scale

Advanced:
3/5 has some potential against certain matchups

Radiant Mirror Force

**********

First off, I forgot to put this in my first review, but I’d like to thank Pojo for allowing me to do COTD reviews for you guys, I hope you enjoy the reviews and learn as much as you can about the cards that we cover. Now, on to the review.

**********

Well for having the words “Mirror Force” in it’s name, you’d think it’d be better than this, but then again, we did get “Dark Mirror Force”…

RMF requires the opponent to have 3 attack position monsters, and for one of them to declare an attack, then you can kill all of the attack position monsters they have on their field. Lets count how many times you’ll see this and realistically be able to use this card:

  1. Against Perfect Circle: with their field swarming capabilities you might be able to pull it off (if they haven’t killed you with Thestalos or Zaborg by then, or bounced RMF back with Raiser).
  2. Against Lazaro Monarchs: If they haven’t killed this off with Mobius or bouncing it with Raiser, you’ll still be killing a trooper or something you don’t want to kill.
  3. Against a desperate Demise player who can’t pay for Demise and has to use his field of 3 monsters to run you over, but chances of this are slim.
  4. The highest chance of using this would be against Six Samurai. They can swarm the field very fast, bringing out 3-5 monsters in a single turn if they have the perfect set-up, but even then, half the time it’ll be with Yaichi, which kills this ANYWAY, so YOU really have to have the perfect set-up to use this.

So basically, the only times you’ll want to use this card is for fun at a local tournament or with friends. When you play against players at your local tournament that aren’t very good, they’ll overextend into this fairly often, so it might be fun, but running 3 would be very excessive. Overall, Konami tried to make this as one of those “replacements for a restricted/banned card”, but they really failed. Then again, it’s hard to make a good replacement for Mirror Force when we already have Sakuretsu Armor. Sakuretsu Armor is the only card that can really replace mirror force with it’s reliability, even if it only kills one monster.

Bottom Line: The requirement for this card is just too unrealistic, even in the current Hyper Aggressive meta. Even if you CAN somehow pull this off, they still probably have you beat, having more advantage than you anyway (otherwise why would they overextend in the first place).
