Monday
Before we begin this week, I'd like to briefly give
you my thoughts of Spiderman 3. The movie was pretty
good. They did a fairly good job of staying true to
the comic book/cartoon story line. However, I did
enjoy Venom much more on the cartoon than in the
movie. At the very least, go see it for hot sizzling
hot Kirsten Dunst is!
Anyway, today we are looking at Neo-Spacian Aqua
Dolphin, which seems an overstatement...where else
would you expect to find a Dolphin but in "Aqua?"
Let's take a look...Water is good, but 600 attack
and 800 defense are not. Level 3 isn't bad, but it
isn't really important giving the less than
magnificent stats. Aqua Dolphin CAN be a 1 for 1.
However, your opponent may NOT have a monster in
their hand.
Then, you are out one card and you took 500 damage!
Not the best of things to happen to you. You could
make sure you have something strong on the field,
like a Monarch or something, odds are your opponent
isn't going to ever have anything stronger than that
in their hand.
However, if you are playing Monarchs, or anything
else Tier 1, then you probably aren't playing Aqua
Dolphin...are you? Obviously, you use this in your
Neo Spacian deck, elsewhere, I wouldn't give it a
second thought...or a first.

Neo Dolphin :
A series of cards which do not wear dark sunglasses.
This displeases me.
Hand disruption is generally a good strategy. Doing
some damage on the side can't hurt either. However,
this card manages to make both rather too painful.
Discarding a card to make your opponent discard one
is understanably balanced. Limiting it to targeting
monster cards is rather more painful as Monsters are
easier to deal with once they hit the field than,
for example, spells. Forcing you to have a monster
with higher ATK is just silly. It means you can't
remove an end-game monster and limits this monster
too much, especially as it needs support to stay
alive.

Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin
Hmmm..quite the odd little card here.
- Water Attribute = BAD
- Warrior-type = GOOD
- 600 ATK = BAD
- 800 DEF = BAD
- Effect = INTERESTING
Worst case scenario, you -1 yourself and lose 500
LPs to get a look at your opponent's hand. While
this can be a helpful tool if you are running cards
like Mind Crush, Trap Dustshoot and D.D. Designator,
Confiscation is a guaranteed 1-for-1 for only 1000
Life Points.
I guess if you run alot of High ATK monsters, you
are increasing your odds of getting to turf a card
from your opponent's hand...assuming of course they
have a monster in their hand.
I can just imagine a player discarding 1 card to see
their opponent's hand: Dark Magician of Chaos,
Premature Burial, and Heavy Storm.
As for Fusing this guy to Elemental Hero Neos...LOL.
Yeah.

good.

Once again….the week starts over…..yay!!!! (boo!!!!)
Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin
Water-Warrior
Level 3
600 atk 800 def
Once per turn, by discarding 1 card from your hand,
look at your opponent's hand and select 1 Monster
Card in it. If there is a monster on your side of
the field with ATK greater than or equal to the ATK
of the selected monster, destroy the selected
Monster Card and inflict 500 damage to your
opponent. If there is no monster on your side of the
field with ATK greater than or equal to the ATK of
the selected monster, take 500 damage.
Well, its stats, type and attribute make this
dolphin searchable by a variety of things. So,
getting it on the field won’t be hard. But with 600
attack it won’t be doing much on it’s own, by
attacking, or by it’s effect.
It’s effect is an interesting one. You get to
discard a card from your hand to take a look at your
opponent’s hand. If you find a monster there AND if
you have a monster on your side of the field with a
higher attack then the selected monster, they lose
that monster and 500 life, otherwise you lose 500
life. So, if all you have is Dolphin and you find a
monster with 600 attack or less, then you have 1 for
1. Otherwise, it’s a -1. In order to make better use
out of the effect, you need a bigger monster out
there. If you have a monarch or a Cyber Dragon to
accompany Dolphin, you could be in pretty good
shape. I’d personally much rather play Confiscation,
Mind Crush, or Trap Dustshoot.
In short, if you decide to run an Aqua Neos deck,
then run this guy. Otherwise, if you are looking for
hand destruction, go with some of the above, or
Reaper or Don Zaloog.

I am confused
as to why someone would run this when
Confiscation, Mind Crush, the new common trap
card from FOTB, Don Zaloog, Magic Drain, etc. do
the same thing better? If this monster had more
attack points and his effect was free then he'd
see some play. But he doesn't.

Monday
So today we start off the week of mediocre cards.
The first up is Aqua Dolphin. Weak stats leave it
dedicated to its effect, preventing it from ever
being useful in many situations. Although lv3 and
ATK <1500 can be beneficial against certain stall
and burn decks, this monster’s effect is too
horrible to make it worth it.
Having the troublesome discard to possibly destroy a
card in the opponent’s hand is horrible. The rest of
the effect also restricts this to only ever being
beneficial if you are currently in an advantageous
position. Meanwhile there are dozens of cards that
can be used to press an advantage.
Use only for fusion.
