Dark Paladin
Today we look at Destiny Hero Dasher, an interesting Tribute monster for the Destiny Hero Deck.

Destiny Hero Dasher is one of those cards that makes you think twice about using it, even outside of the Destiny Hero Deck. Let's talk first about using it where it should belong. 2100 attack and 1000 defense for a Level 6 monster...the attack is a bit low, but we play Monarchs, so the defense doesn't matter. (Not for that statement
anyway.)

Once per turn, you CAN tribute one monster to boost Dasher by 1000 points until the End Phase. That gives you a 3100 attack one tribute monster, and while tributing a monster may not be desireable, sometimes you want a monster you have on the field in the Graveyard...or you have something that may not matter if it's in the Graveyard (Treeborn Frog?)

It does have the downside of switching to defense position after being attacked, and then, the 1000 defense comes into play. Sad, isn't it?
However, the secondary effect is what makes me think this card could work outside of the D-Hero Deck.

While D-Hero Dasher is in your Graveyard, once, you are allowed to Special Summon a monster from your Hand by showing it to your opponent.
Obviously this doesn't work in a Monarch deck as you need to tribute them for their effects, but what about a deck using other high level monsters? It could be useful.

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Dasher :
I'm astonished. No sarcastic comments come to mind.

This is the sort of solid card this game needs more of. A 2100 Lv. 6 isn't great, but the possibilities of a 3100 ATK Lv. 6 are good. It might turn sideways, but should have already done enough damage. And, if you don't want to waste the time summoning this guy, just send him to the graveyard and enjoy a completely free summon. A card that isn't broken, but strong and useful to many decks. I like.

D-Hero Dasher

This card popularity has skyrocketed due to Destiny Draw and DDT. On its own it is a decent monster to abuse with card trooper, monster-gate, reasoning, card destruction, etc. The ability to top deck DMOC and other big Two Tributes and summon like a 4 star monster is a powerful effect indeed. But Destiny Draw allows this possibility to come with two free draws.

Turkeyspit Destiny Hero Dasher

In case you've been living under a rock for the past few months, or have been indulging in either M:TG, WoW or Naruto CCG's, Destiny Heroes have proven themselves to be a powerful and dominating (read: broken) decktype.

Destiny Hero Dasher is a perfect example of this. Being able to tribute a monster to boost his ATK to 3100 is nothing to sneeze at, especially if combo'ed with Sack Steal or Brain Control. Sure, after it gets a +1 by destroying your monster, it switches to Defense mode for an easy kill the following turn, but then you don't want to send your opponent's Dasher to the graveyard!

Nothing hurts more then watching your opponent topdeck Jinzo or Dark Magician of Chaos, and then use Destiny Hero Dasher's effect to summon it to the field for free. Ugh.

More recent DDT builds have ignored Dasher. Personally I don't see why, as both Monster Gate and Reasoning gate him to the field for free. But then I'm not a DDT player, so what do I know ^_^

--------------------------------
Traditional:
1/5 - He is DARK, but the monsters you want to special summon in Traditional cannot be summoned with Dasher's effect. DDT could be a viable decktype in Traditional, but I doubt anyone would try it over Scientist OTK or Chaos.

Advanced:
4/5 - A solid choice for DDT builds, although he has seen less play recently.

I don’t think anyone gave this card a glance until just a few months ago…

Destiny Hero-Dasher

Dark-Warrior
Level 6
2100 atk 1000 def

Once per turn, by Tributing 1 monster, this card gains 1000 ATK until the end of this turn. If this card attacks, it is changed to Defense Position at the end of the Battle Phase. While this card is in the Graveyard, one time only, when you draw a Monster Card during your Draw Phase you can show it to your opponent and Special Summon it.

This has proven to be quite a versatile monster in Diamond Dude Turbo deck. 2100 attack means it can kamekaze with a Cyber Dragon. 1000 defense won’t do it much.

Now, onto the effects. The first one is simple. Tribute a monster, this card gains 1000 attack points. So, you tribute a Malicious, kill the opponent’s monarch, then remove the Malicious and get another Malicious. The second effect is like Goblin Attack Force. It switches to defense after it attacks, which with 1000 defense, won’t do this guy much. But, for a Diamond Dude Turbo deck, they want this guy in the graveyard because the third effect let’s you special summon a monster you just drew during the draw phase, so it’s really handy to bring out a Jinzo, or a DMoC, or another Dasher.

This card flows so well in Diamond Dude Turbo, it’s ridiculous. Highly recommended there, and it isn’t half bad anywhere else either.

Known essentially for it’s tech in DDT, Dasher alone isn’t really worth it. Being a strange mixture of effects he is an interesting and situational card. At 2100 atk and lv 6 he won’t be alive too long, especially with a dismal defense. Although he can pack a punch by going up by 1000, having to be forced to defense position and left vulnerable just squanders the resources put into him.

He’s best off being used to abuse his one time only special summon, and to launch on the offensive to OTK the opponent. Cause afterwards, he’s a dead man.
