Dark Paladin |
Well, we have a good week for you this week! We're
looking at some cards from Gladiator's Assault and
we open up the week with an Evil Hero.
I'd just like to say Evil Hero is very oxymoronix,
but the Evil Heroes are all decently good, overall,
and this Malicious Edge is also a respectable card.
If your opponent controls one card, you get a one
tribute 2600 attack monster, who also has Trample.
You don't want to give up more than one tribute,
even for the attack power...definately use him in
your Evil Hero deck! (I will point out that he
wouldn't be worth using if he didn't have the
ability to be summoned with one tribute)
Ratings:
Traditional: 1.5/5 Not bad, but Earth and Fiend
aren't very welcome in Traditional.
Advanced: 3/5 Not a bad trampler, and a welcome
addition to the Evil Hero family.

EVIL HERO MALICIOUS EDGE GLAS-EN003
3.8/5
This is an almost perfect super rare. The idea of a
2600 one tribute trample monster is more than enough
of a reason to run it. The only draw back comes from
the fact your opponent must control a monster. Big
deal! With Light and Darkness Dragon exploding into
the scene, monarchs getting more and more counters
(including the dragon) expect people to want to be
even more aggressive than they currently are.
Currently Gellunduo is going to be a hot card as a
result of its indestructibility and double tribute
for a light monster effect (Dragon fodder anyone?).
A 2600 with trample will easily swipe through that
defense position monster and force self destruction.
Unlike are friends the monarchs he does not pay for
himself upon summon. Then again he can kill 98% of
the monsters we will be dealing with, treeborn frog
(etc.) allow for no cost, and a smart player will
not fret over a one for one removal card. |

Evil Hero Malicious Edge
O M G! This is an excellent card. On Sunday it won
me, single handedly, 2 games. He is searchable by
Stratos, Summonable on the first turn, has 2600 ATK
and the piercing ability. He will make your opponent
fear to put cards facedown as he is one of the
biggest piercers in the game. Oh and did I mention
he is a Fiend? That means that Doom Shaman is
playable and could even be competetive. Pick up as
many as you can, cuz It's gonna be huge...

Evil Hero Malicious Edge - The Goat Raper
Well it's not Evil Hero week, though the first three
days make it look like it.
Ok, so we have a 2600 7 Star (Bad) Earth Monster
(Good...ish?) monster with trample (Better than
nothing). It is an Evil Hero, which means it has
support out the wazoo like every other monster with
'Hero' in it's name. I like the ability to summon
with only one tribute, as it's like a bigger Cyber
Dragon. Plus it doesn't matter how many monsters you
have on your side of the field, which makes it's
effect better than Cyber Dragon's in one prospect.
The unfortunate thing is, I'd rather have Cyber
Dragon in my hand at almost any point in time
instead of this.
You see, Cyber Dragon can swarm great, and chances
are the monster you normal summon along with it has
more than 500 ATK. Which I might point out is the
biggest flaw by far. 2600 ATK just isn't enough to
make it worthwhile to me. If it was 3000, or even
2800 I could really appreciate this card. But right
now, the 2600 just doesn't equal up to enough
trample damage. Cyber Dragon has it's ATK because
it's so quick, but this isn't what I'd call
lightspeed. They're best when they're together and
your opponant has a monster that's set, or like the
name says, when there are goats aplenty. My heavens
does this thing rape goats. It's not even funny.
In Traditional, this card has no place. Chaos is the
dominant form of play, and you won't keep monsters
out long enough to even stand a chance against of
getting this guy out and about. If he was Dark, I'd
say maybe, but he's not.
In Advanced, this card actually stands a chance. In
a Hero deck, I can see him having a place with
Malicious. He may just end up being a good addition
to the average Hero deck. However, only time can
tell how people will receive him. As for me, I'm
happy just letting this one slip me by.
Traditional: 1
Advanced: 3.5 (He actually has a place, imagine
that) |
