Dark Paladin
Thursday

Now, we shift gears from Evil Hero to Gladial Beast, specifically, Gladiator Beast Octavius, who is one of the better, if not the best, o the Gladiator Beast monsters. These monsters focus on taking cards off your opponent's side of the Field, and summoning themselves from the Deck by returning one that may exist on your Field all ready.

Octavius has 2500 attack points and is Level 7, which would normally require two tributes, but you aren't supposed to tribute for your High Level Gladiator Beast monsters. You are supposed to Special Summon them from the deck, as previously mentioned.

Most of the Gladiator Beasts return to the Deck at the end of the turn, but by discarding a card from your Hand to your Graveyard, Octavius can stay on the Field, which may or may not be a good idea, depending on the situation. You might summon him again later from your deck anyway.

Ratings:

Traditional: 3/5 This may be a bit generous, but I think a Gladiator Beast deck might actually work in Traditional Format.

Advanced: 4/5 This deck is defintaely powerful, and has a chance to
break this format from a Gadget and Monarch heavy Format.

GLADIATOR BEAST OCTAVIUS

This theme is more devastating then people are giving it credit for. I expect to see a deck running three of these to make top 16 the next go around. Devastatingly fast and vicious, the ability to summon two of these guys from the deck at one time basically seals your opponents fate.

5/5

A better support card than Grandmaster in my opinion due to its ability to be searched, hit for some damage, send itself back to the deck for more advantage, etc.
General Zorpa Gladiator Beast Octavius

The best Gladiator Beast. He pwns Alexander (I am sad now) and made me want to get Gladiators in order to play them. 2500 ATK is huge, and he protects himself by destroying a s/t card when he is played from the deck by a Gladiator Beast effect. Gladiators are good, mark my words, so get ahold of as many of these as you can!

Ryan Spicer Today's card of the day is Gladiator Beast Octavius. He has a decent effect that allows you to destroy a spell or trap on the field. One of these in the main of the gladiator theme would do good, and another in the side maybe. His drawback is pretty hefty, but if you have a card ready for discard, it can easily be overcome.

David "BobDole" Hoffman Gladiator Beast Octavius

I actually really like the Gladiator Beast Monsters, and this guy certainly fits right in with a good GB Deck. He's a Seven Star (This really doesn't matter all that much in a Gladiator Beast Deck) Light (Got a little support) 2500 ATKer (This is the best thing by far). The 2500 ATK lets him take down Monarchs, and since the Gladiator Beasts focus on not sacrificing, this guy is more than likely to get out at some point in time. Since you're pretty much never going to tribute summon this guy, the chance of his first effect activating is basicly a given. So basicly when you summon him, you have to destroy a facedown spell or trap card. This effect is great, as long as your opponent has a facedown S/T. Otherwise you'll be blowing one of your own up.

His second effect isn't as terrible as it sounds. This honestly has almost no bearing on his effectiveness. There is a Gladiator Beast that when searched and summoned, is unaffected by Spell cards, and has good ATK power, so chances are you're going to just shuffle this guy in, grab Alexander and go with it.

The worst thing about this guy, is that he's completely unsplashable. He fits into GB decks and that's about it.

In Traditional, I don't see a GB Deck being the best, but it could be competitive at least. It's quick enough to make at least a difference.

In Advanced, this card is going to go places. I'd say pick one up now simply because once a GB Deck wins a Shonen Jump, this guys price is going to skyrocket. I look forward to seeing how people do with GB Decks.

Traditional: 2.5/5
Advanced: 4/5
Gladiator Beast Deck: 5/5 (This guy's a staple in there, with his Monarch killing ATK power)
