Hello all, and welcome to another week, or half week
in this case, of card reviewing!
Today we look at one of the more powerful Gladiator
Beasts!
GLAS-EN017
Gladiator Beast Alexander
LIGHT
Level 6
ATK/2400 DEF/600
[Beast/Effect]
This card cannot be Special Summoned except by the
effect of "Gladiator Beast Dimacari". If this card
was Special Summoned, it is unaffected by the
effects of Spell Cards. At the end of the Battle
Phase, if this card attacked or was attacked, you
can return it to the Deck to Special Summon 1
"Gladiator Beast" monster from your Deck, except
"Gladiator Beast Alexander".

With 2400 attack, this can suicide with a monarch,
and it’s only one tribute. Of course, you aren’t
going to want to special summon this card all that
often. You are going to want to special summon it,
just like any other Gladiator.
Whenever this card is special summoned, this card
becomes immune to spell cards. In a format where
vortex has made a comeback, as well as Fissure,
Smashing Ground, as well as multiple other cards.
And, like all the other beasts, when this card
attacks or is attacked and survives, you get to put
him back in the deck and get another Gladiator and
continue the cycle.
The only real downside to this card as far as the
Gladiator deck type is concerned is that Dimacari is
the only Gladiator Beast that can search for this
card.
So, if you run Gladiator Beasts, you have better
play this. Otherwise, don’t.

Gladiator Beast Alexander
Well this is my favorite of the Gladiator Beasts.
Not because it is good or anything, but because he
and I both share the same name as that ancient
empire builder. 2400 ATK is good, and he is a one
tribute monster so that he can be brought out easily
if you need his ATK without waiting for the Battle
Phase. If you do wait then he becomes invulnerable
to spells. There are very few kill spells left in
this game, and so this is almost worthless. Throw in
that he needs to be summoned from the deck by
Dimacari alone, and I don't think he lives up to his
fearsome name. I would rather use Spartacus or
Octavius.

Monday
Well, it's a short week folks, but we will be
looking at three more of the Gladiator Beasts this
week, starting with Alexander, who has the best card
art...possibly ever!
The only real problem that Alexander has is the fact
that he can only be Special Summoned via one other
of the Gladiator Beasts, instead of any of them...in
this case, he can only be summoned by Dimacari.
He is immune to Magic cards, which is a good thing.
Granted, there are obviously other ways to destroy a
monster, but it's nice to have an immunity to
something, especially things like Lightning Vortex,
isn't it :)
2400 attack is good, as you know it suicides your
other 2400 attack favorites being Monarchs, Jinzo,
Sacred Phoenix and the like. A great card for
Gladiator Beast decks.
