Ultimate Offering
Ahh, back to the old page. Now I might actually
write these instead of procrastinating and
ending up missing the entire week because of
it. (I'm lazy :p)
Anyway, this week is full of restricted cards.
Ultimate Offering is restricted for one reason
and one reason only -- its combination with
Gadget monsters. Swarming is common in
Yu-Gi-Oh; Six Samurai does it, Zombies do it,
but those decks have methods to work around, and
if the swarm goes bad, your opponent has wasted
the majority of their hand/their entire hand.
With Gadgets, you could pay 2,000 LP to turn one
gadget in your hand to five Gadgets on the field
(and the sixth in your hand). If the swarm goes
bad (Torrential/Mirror Force/Needle
Ceiling/System Down), you didn't really lose any
card presence, and in all of those cases except
System Down, one of the deck's two copies of Pot
of Avarice lets the Ultimate Offering cycle
start all over again if the Gadget player has
the life to do so.
Ultimate Offering and a Gadget is a combination
where a player can put up to 6,600 damage on the
field for 2 cards and 2,000 LP. The last time
we had anything similar to that -- Card Trooper
and Machine Duplication -- Trooper got limited
to end that. This is slightly harder to pull
off, but still needed nerfed to the point where
you didn't have 3 of each Gadget and 3 Offerings
to make an OTK out of it.
Ultimate Offering on its own gets a 3/5.

Monday
We've got a good week for you folks, and we start
with Ultiamte Offering, which seems to fall in the
"Forgotten Trap" category, but is it worth playing?
Let's see.
Ultimate Offering is a Continuous Trap, which is the
biggest downside this card has. With so many thing
floating around like Mobius, Raiza, and even the
potential for double Jinzo and double Royal Decree,
it's a tough format to be a Trap, let alone a
Continuous Trap.
This card has some good uses though. You can use it
during your opponent's Battle Phase, which could
prevent a direct attack, and for 500 Lifepoints,
that could be a bargain. It's a solid enough card,
but not for many decks. It can help you tribute for
something a little faster, and you can use it to
swarm a little.
As stated, it's a tough format, but it has
potential.

October 29th, 2007
Well, I’ve been awfully busy with school, and a new
job is finally coming over the horizon for me, so I
apologize for only popping in here on occasion over
the past month or so….
Anyway, today we review Ultimate Offering. A normal
trap that lets you pay 500 life points for an extra
normal summon during either: a) your main phase one
or two, or b) your opponent’s battle phase. Also,
keep in mind that you are still required to tribute
if you wish to normal summon monster.
Obviously, this won’t work in very many decks, as
you are obviously running through your hand at an
alarming rate if you continue to summon monsters.
The only deck that really benefits is quite
obviously, Gadgets. Summon a Gadget, get another,
then another, then another. You fill your field with
Gadgets, follow it up with Heavy or Giant Trunade,
play Limiter Removal and smack them upside the head
for well more than game.
Other than that, I don’t see any other decks in the
current format that could make use of this card. So,
if you play Gadgets and Limiter, you should be
playing this, otherwise, don’t.
Traditional: 1/5 (Can’t see Gadgets fairing too well
here)
Advanced: 5/5 (In a gadget deck)

Ultimate Offering
This card was limited a long time ago due to the
possibility of a gadget OTK and the OTK with Black
Ptera and Cannon Soldier. It works wonders. People
think that Double Summon is good, Offering is
better. It does cost 500 lifepoints, but we all pay
800 for Brain Control and Premature Burial. It works
well with Gemini monsters as well as the Six
Samurai. I believe that this card will be seeing
some increased play, so hang on to those copies of
Champion Pack Ultimate Offering. You never know when
it will be broken...
