Tuesday:
Torrential Tribute
This is one of the two Trap cards you pretty
much play regardless of deck type. And unlike
Mirror Force, you don't have the "I can't afford
it" excuse because it's a starter deck common in
more than a couple decks.
Dark Hole and Raigeki are banned for their
field-clearing power. This is the only decent
remaining option for a free field-clear, and
it's only dependent upon someone doing some kind
of Summon. That's an easy enough situation to
come across.
At most tournaments, before a player considers
doing a big move, they check the opponent's
graveyard for two things; Torrential and Mirror
Force. If both are already there, there are
very few cards that can make a big late-game
push go bad.
You play it, or you're a noob. It's that
simple.

Torrential Tribute is the best Field clearing card
that is unbanned currently...period. The great thing
about this card being a Trap is, that you can use it
on your opponent's turn, regardless of the number of
monsters either of you control, and whether the
monster in response was Special Summoned.
In short, you should be playing this card.
Destroying everything, summoning something and then
adding a Premature or Call of the Haunted to swarm
the field and hopefully move in for the finishing
attack or attacks.

Today’s card….Torrential Tribute. Ohhhh….the days
you could run three of these!
If a monster is summoned, all the monsters on the
field go to the grave. Simple.
In all honesty, this is a tricky trap to use in MANY
situations. Obviously, if your opponent has 2 or 3
monsters, and summons another, unless you have a few
yourself, you are going to Torrential. And, also, if
you summon a Wildheart, then you again have another
obvious use of a Torrential. Same for a dangerous
Tribute Monster.
But, what about when your opponent summons a Cyber
Dragon? Do you risk him/her tributing for a JInzo or
him not summoning another monster, or do you use
Torrential now? It’s not that easy. You need to
analyze your hand, the field, the number of cards in
your opponent’s hand, and any information you know
about their deck. What is the probability his/her
deck can continue to mount an offensive this turn?
Virtually 100% of all decks should run this card,
but a number much less than 100% would probably
illustrate the amount of people who actually play
this card correctly to achieve maximum advantage.
It’s not the obvious plays the tell if you can use
Torrential correctly, it is the plays that aren’t so
obvious that determine this.
So, play this, but be careful with it! It can and
has backfired!

Torrential Tribute
With the release of Marshmallon, this is one of the
best cards in the game. Monsters that cannot be
destroyed in battle are annoying, and this will
clear it all out. Essential it is the ultimate form
of Trap Hole. Lots of people will say that Mirror
Force is better, but usually you can use the
destruction to get to your own goals, such as Sangan,
Treeborn Frog or Card Trooper. This is easily in the
top 5 best cards in the game right now, and it will
continue to do so until it is banned.
