Injection Fairy Lily
Well, now that she's back at 3 per deck, it's about
time she got another review.
Remember, when something goes from 0, 1, or 2 per
deck to 3, usually that means that it's because it's
no longer a threat at 3 per deck. This is definitely
the case here. You'd have be nuts to run triples of
this, because you'd run out of life points WAY
before your opponent did if you smacked with a
couple of them but your opponent found a way to
fight back.
Some decks can work well with two, however -- mainly
any Giant Rat deck has an excuse to run a couple of
this (and that's the only deck you can really
justify three Exiled Force in.) Otherwise, the
people that were playing one in a non-themed deck
are probably still only going to play one.
With so much free removal out there, Lily's fallen
out of use as of late -- why pay 2,000 LP to clear
out a Monarch and do 1,000 damage, when you can just
Smash and attack with something else? It's good, but
it's not broken. That's why it's back at 3...which
is also its rating.

Thursday
We aren't looking at anything new today, but it is
my 21st Birthday, and I wanted to look at something
fun. That leads us to Injection Fairy Lily,
something you can now use three of, so may be worth
a review anyway.

First, I all ready did an article a short time ago
about my thoughts on this, so click on the above
link to read that.
I don't have much else to say on the subject out of
there. Injection Fairy Lily is still a good
well-powered card You can use three, but you
probably don't need to. Sorry to be short, but as I
said...the article covers everything pretty well.

Injection Fairy Lily :
Happy 21st Dark Paladin. Enjoy your new legal
abilities.
I've always liked Injeco. A win condition of a stick
you can tutor with a giant rat. There's something
there I just like. I really hope it sees more play
now she can have friends along. With Magician's
Circle as well, you are fairly likely to play her
every game, and with an appropraitely clever build,
I think she could go far.

Injection Fairy Lily
If you don't have an answer to this card(usually in
the form of Smashing Ground), it can get real
annoying, real quick.
Obvious pros are being able to take down anything
(well, maybe not anything but anything you'll
normally play in a regional or Shonen Jump
Championship) with a fair cost of 2000 life points.
Remember, life points do not matter until you have
none left.
Bad things? Uhhh when it gets stuck in attack mode
and you can no longer pay for it, and when they keep
setting facedown monsters. Which, by the way, they
will be doing once this thing hit's the field. Then
you're screwed.
2/5 -- Not so great really. |

Injection Fairy Lily
(Happy B-Day)
Hands down broken, the 2000 LP is meaningless
compared to winning the game. She has an OTK that
has pretty much every card unlimited...
Marauding Captain, Inferno Reckless Summon, Her,
etc.
Every monster in the OTK is reachable either with
Giant Rat, Reinforcement of the Army, Sangan, etc.
Why no one has taken to using it makes me wonder
about the overall intelligence of yu-gi-oh players.
For further opinion read my article "Booster Shot of
Death".

Injection Fairy Lily
Injection is a classic; truly a
favorite of mine.
It’s easy to think of Lily as a
linear card; a card with one purpose only…to attack.
See, she doesn’t work that way. It’s hard to see how
useful she is on the defensive as well. Nobody in
their right mind would attack a Lily unless they
have a Recruiter handy. The most logical thing to do
with a Recruiter is set it face-down and hope for
the best.
Lily is auto Smashing Ground target.
In my experience, she doesn’t get attacked a whole
lot. Now that she’s at 3 she can be a bit more
reliable on-the-draw.
Personally, I wouldn’t use 3 copies
of Lily in the same deck unless I ran Nimble Momonga
and in a deck based around dealing cheap damage
quickly. It’s easy to build one of those. Include
the following:
ˇ
3
Injection Fairy Lily
ˇ
3
Nimble Momonga
ˇ
3
Des Koala
ˇ
1
Magic Cylinder
ˇ
1
Ring of Destruction
I might try that. Life Gain + Direct
Damage? Sounds good to me. Des Koala does a LOT of
damage this format. Think about it.
Last Word:
Lily is an ‘expert’s card’. Not to
say you can only play this if you are an SJC
Champion and all that. She’s not a popular card, but
she’s a favorite among the old-school players. I
definitely love this card.

Injection Fairy Lily
A special Happy Birthday to 'Dark Paladin' as he
reaches the age where he no longer requires a fake
ID to buy Alcoholic products.
I don't know if it was coincidence or a special
present to Paladin, but today we get to review
everyone's favorite nurse: Fairy Lily!
Not much I can tell you about this card that you
don't already know. If attacking directly, IFL can
quickly end games. While on the field, it can be a
real problem for your opponent so long as you have
more than 2000 Life Points.
Searchable via Giant Rat, tutorable via Sangan, and
summonable via Magical Dimension, Injection can show
up at all sorts of inconvenient times for your
opponent. Swapping over your Rat, attacking,
summoning IFL, and then attacking for 3400 LPs of
damage can really ruin a person's day!
Sadly though, the best card to use with IFL was
recently added to the Forbidden List. Last Will
enabled a player to use Exiled Force to clear your
opponent's Monster Field, and then summon IFL for
3400 LPs of direct damage. With Last Will gone, I
guess Konami felt that having 3 copies of IFL would
be fine. Since I have yet to see IFL truly dominate
the metagame, perhaps they are correct.
Just remember to do your math before attacking with
Lily! If it doesn't generate a +1 or do massive
amounts of damage, save the 2000 LPs and pass your
turn.
---------------------------------------
Traditional:
1/5 - Even with Last Will still allowed, being EARTH
attribute makes IFL less than ideal for Traditional.
Advanced:
4/5 - Always a good card to play in EARTH attribute
/ Ratbox decks, being unrestricted just makes her
easier to get to the field.
Card Art:
4/5 - All sorts of ideas come to mind, but nothing
sums up this card better then the words: "Bend
Over!" |

March 15
It’s Dark Paladin’s Birthday today!!! Happy Birthday
DP!! So….when is the party? I WANT CAKE!!! He chose
today’s card, and it’s an old favorite that recently
got off the restricted list entirely!!
Injection Fairy Lily
Earth/Spellcaster
Level 3
400 attack 1500 defense
This card's effect can be activated only during the
Damage Step of either player's turn. Pay 2000 Life
Points to increase the ATK of this monster by 3000
points only during the Damage Step.
This is one powerful lil lily. Let’s break it down.
Since it is Earth, a Spellcaster, and under 1500
attack, it is searchable by Giant Rat, Magician’s
Circle, and Sangan. It’s easy to get out. You can
even run three making it even easier to draw, though
I highly HIGHLY would suggest against running three
of these gals. Since it’s level 3, it can attack
under Gravity Bind, Messenger, and Level Limit Area
B. Pretty good.
Onto the effect….pay 2000 life points? Holy smokes!
Those 4 words are why you don’t run three of these
in a deck, or even two. One will usually suffice.
Taking this off the restricted list didn’t really do
us anything. But when you pay the 2000 during the
damage step, this lily goes to 3400 attack. That’s
huge. It can kill ANYTHING that you will typically
see in this format except for Chimeratech….and if
you see a Chimeratech on your opponent’s field it’s
probably going to be game anyway. Since this effect
can only be activated in the damage step, unless
your opponent has something pretty wild face down,
the are going to be taking some punishment. And if
they decided to Ring or Magic Cylinder during the
Battle Step, you only take 400 because you haven’t
paid yet.
Obviously, however, this card is tricky to use. It’s
easy to throw this down to take out a monarch, but
you can only pay so many times. If not careful you
can be left low on life and an easy kill. And
obviously it’s a dead draw if you are lower than
2100 life points. There are also a variety of cards
that cause this card trouble including Waboku and
other cards that don’t take Battle Damage. Imagine
attacking a Monarch with Injection and having your
opponent flip Waboku. You have to choose between
losing lily and taking 2000 life points. Or paying
2000, not do anything, but you keep Lily. Either
way, you are left in a tough spot with that Monarch
still there ready to pounce. Fairy Lily vs. Fairy
Lily doesn’t work out too well either.
So, Fairy Lily. Little monster, BIG effect. If you
are going to run any, run ONE. That should seriously
be all you need.
