Friday:
Neo-Spacian Grand Mole
I saw this thing in a good few decks at the last
Regionals I was at. This is definitely going to be
one of those "if you have a free monster slot, throw
it in" type things.
Grand Mole has quite a lot going for it to get
restricted to 1 per deck right off the bat. It
screws over flip effects, as it bounces itself and
the monster before a flip would occur. It hurts
Tribute monsters, as it forces your opponent to
re-tribute for it. It gets a monster back into your
hand that your opponent plays Snatch Steal on. And
it pokes for so little damage that if it's attacking
directly, your opponent will grimace if they have to
Sakuretsu it.
Just remember that it doesn't get its effect if it's
attacked while face-down...but setting it shouldn't
be such an issue because you don't take damage even
if it's attacked by something stronger.
Expect to see (and get annoyed by) this card for
many tournaments to come.

Neo-Spacian Ground Mole
is a tiny Level 3 Earth/Rock Monster with a
paltry 900 ATK and 300 DEF. Yet it has an
effect that makes it worthy of being Banned
before we’d officially gotten it. When this
Monster does battle with an opponent’s Monster,
both are bounced to the hand at the start of the
Damage Step. For those who never learned their
fundamentals, that means before you flip over a
Set Monster and approximately 90% of Battle
based effects go off, plus before Damage
Calculation. Now, you’re probably giving up a
Summon to use this… but that’s okay. In
exchange for not being searchable via
Reinforcements of the Army (and other
Warrior goodies) you have what amounts to an
infinitely re-useable “bouncing Exiled Force”.
Combined with all the handy Special Summons we
possess, this should lead to much direct attack
sickness. In Japan, I understand that it had
quite a few nasty combos, which explains some of
the seemingly odd Bans/Restrictions for this
list. It is small enough to Giant Rat
and Sangan to search for and almost as
importantly, to make people question whether or
not it’s worth using removal on. Remember, you
can Summon it and attack them direct and if they
try to run it over next turn… they bounce.
Do I even need to point out that this is yet
another card that makes it stupid to play
Tributes (who are largely kept alive by a
handful of broken examples), Fusions, and
Rituals? Even with Metamorphosis it
hurts to have something bounced. If this had
only worked in one kind or at least a very
limited amount of decks (Neo-Spacian), it might
have been a good way to diversify the metagame.
Instead, its even more general purpose than
Elemental Hero – Stratos.

Friday
Closing the week, we'll look at a Neo Spacian that
got Restricted this time around, and with good
reason I believe, Neospacian Ground Mole.
Earth/Rock/3/900/300
When this card battles with an opponent's monster,
you may return this card and that opponent's monster
to respective owner's hand without doing Damage
Calculation.
900 attack is low, and 300 defense is also quite
low. However, you probably aren't going to use
Ground Mole to attack your opponent anyway. So, if
Ground Mole is attacked, both the attacking monster
and our furry friend return to the owner's
respective hands.
If that wasn't enough, Neospacian Ground Mole is
immune to trample.
Note the effect says without applying Damage
calculation. It seems they have made a very
splashable Neo card, didn't they?
Don't be surprised to see one of these critters
popping up in most decks.

Neo Spacian Ground Mole :
You've gotta love when a card is printed to help a
crud deck and restricted before it can do any form
of good.
Though not as effective as some other forms of
bounce (well equipped penguins), this has the
potential to extend the game a couple of turns,
especially in situations where your opponent only
has one monster.
Aggro decks can also make use of its face-down
removal to keep the pressure on. Overall, a very
nice card for a broad range of decks.

Neospacian Ground Mole
Very good card.
Probably at its peak mid game when you have your
opponents in the ropes and they're setting monsters.
Face down monster removal is a powerful thing in
Yu-Gi-Oh!, and its hard to come by, but this little
guy gets it done (..in a way).
I side deck it and I'm currently testing it out in
some decks, looks very promising. Solid card.
5/5. Broken card? No. One of the best cards we've
reviewed in a while? Definitely. Serious rating is
4/5, however. |

Ground Mole
I think we can all agree he is hands down the best
neo-spacien monster. His ability makes Zombie,
phoenix, etc. shiver with fear. Not to mention that
his 900 attack can add up:)
I love this monster simply because removal is the
best way to win a game. But some players may not
understand how to use this little guy, If someone is
hitting you with a Don Zaloog, do not summon him and
attack into it and then end your turn with no back
field?
Other than that he is the new staple, expect to see
him all over the place cause he is one of the best
monsters to be released in a while.

Neospacian Ground Mole
Ground Mole is one of those cards
you’re GLAD they restricted to 1. Can you imagine 3
of these per Ratbox deck? 3 Smashing Ground would
not be enough to get rid of this little beasty.
Face-down monsters would become obsolete. Just
attack, bounce it, and hit with another creature.
Ground Mole is also one of those
cards that can be splashed into most decks without
much consequence like Treeborn Frog. It’s also a
great weapon against Sacred Phoenix and other
powerful Tribute monsters.
Last Word:
This card is one of the best in the
game. Great effect; the stats don’t matter and its
effect works before damage is calculated.

Well, this thing has an interesting effect, and can
get really annoying if you don't have 2 or more
Monsters out. It dodges the Damage Step, which means
that no Monster will be destroyed if it's effect
carries out. Overall, this card is pretty good in a
lot of decks that aren't using a lot of Tributes.
There was a reason this thing got Limited to 1.

Neo-Spacian Grand Mole
The artist formally known as Ground Mole is a great
addition to the TCG monster lineup. This card is so
good in fact, that it was bestowed the honour of
being Restricted to 1 even before it was Tournament
Legal! (and for good reason)
Suffice it to say, if you don't have reactive
removal ready to respond to an attack by this guy,
then there is little you can do to stop him from
returning one of your monsters to your hand. Since
his effect activates and resolves before Damage
Calculation:
- Face-down monsters aren't flipped face up (no OVM
or Night Assailant for you!)
- D.D. Warrior Lady and even D.D. Warrior's effects
are useless.
- This 900 ATK runt can headbutt your 2400 ATK Jinzo
back to your hand, and your opponent won't lose a
single life point.
Pretty cool, eh?
Bouncing an opponent's tribute monster back into
their hand is pretty annoying, especially if it was
a Special Summon type monster like Sacred Phoenix, a
Ritual Monster or a Fusion Monster! And yes, you can
also use this guy to fuse with E-Hero Neos, but I
doubt I will see that happen anytime soon.
Ironically though, this card both wrecks and IS
wrecked by Mind Crush, which was recently also
Restricted to 1.
A great addition to any Ratbox deck, expect to see
this guy splashed into many maindecks and sidedecks.
-----------------------------------------
Traditional:
2/5 - I guess this guy could be useful, but being an
EARTH attribute really hurts his utility.
Advanced:
4/5 - There are some decks that shouldn't run this
card, and those that should but don't, likely don't
have an open monster slot.
Card Art:
4/5 - This is what 'Drillroid' would look like in
the Transformers "Beast Wars" Universe. |

To
end off the week we look at one of the most annoying
cards of the new set….
Neospacian Ground Mole
Earth/Rock/3/900/300
When this card battles with an opponent's monster,
you may return this card and that opponent's monster
to respective owner's hand without doing Damage
Calculation.
Okay, so it’s searchable by Sangan, and Rat and it’s
level 3, but other than that it’s Stats don’t really
matter. It’s effect is why it is already restricted
to one, and why it’s good in SO many decks.
Simply attack any monster and just like that it’s
back in the hand along with whatever it attacked or
got attacked by with no damage calculated. Don’t
like that Jinzo? Back to the hand!! Repear causing
trouble? Back to the hand!! A facedown monster
troubling you? Back to the hand!! And you can do
this each and every turn if you like. Obviously this
isn’t meant to generate advantage by itself. You
should try to get a big monster out first, then you
summon the Mole. It’s meant to clear the way for
your other monsters to strike a blow. It is one of
the most annoying little monsters I’ve ever seen.
Just keep in mind that it does NOT work if Ground
Mole is attacked while face down.
I don’t think I need to go into huge detail as to
why this card is good. It’s great in burn decks to
counter Jinzo. it works great in my favorite deck,
it’s great for aggressive decks like monarchs, and
the list just goes on and on and on.
Traditional: 4/5 (Not quite as good, but still good)
