Now it's time for something I really enjoy, and
decided to treat my fellow reviewers on our last
full week before Christmas with a Reviewer's Choice,
as sort of my gift to everyone :) I love Reviewer's
Choice, as we don't do it very often and it's sort
of a special CotD.
Appropriately enough, I have decided to review a
Spellcaster support card, and this is a pretty big
and important card that we do not yet have in
English. My choice for Reviewer's Choice is Magical
Academy, which we saw on the anime used by Yami Yugi
in his duel against the Orichalcos "guru" in "A New
Evil--Part II"
Magical Academy
Quickplay Magic
Activate only when your opponent declares an attack
on a monster you control. Discard 2 cards and
Tribute the attack target to Special Summon 1 Spellcaster-Type monster from your hand, and equip
it with this card. The Special Summoned monster
gains 500 ATK and 2 Levels.
Until the End Phase Spell and Trap Cards that target
the monster Special Summoned are negated and
destroyed.
It's sort of like Magical Dimension, except you have
to discard two cards, and you don't get to destroy a
monster. However, instead your chosen monster gains
500 attack points, and has it's Level increased by
two.
On the anime, Yugi used this for Dark Magician Girl,
and then comboed with Diffusion-Wave Motion to win
the Duel. The discard does hurt this card, but the
bonus of not being able to be targeted by Magic and
Trap cards, if only for the duration of the turn is
nice.
It could be a nice way to bring out something
powerful or fun, but even if we got it in English, I
see Magical Dimension still being the superior card,
not that this is useless or anything. Imagine, it
makes your Dark Magician have 3000 points instead of
2500, and he can take down powerhouse then.

I'm not sure how many cards we're reviewing next
week, but Merry Christmas and a great holiday season
to everyone :)
~Dark Paladin~
General Zorpa
Sky Scourge Norleras
This is currently the best card in the
game. Chaos
Emperor Dragon, Dark Armed Dragon, Judgment Dragon
and Gladiator Beast Gyzarus are little amatuer
midgets in the face of this god. I chose to do this
as my reviewer's choice because I cannot believe
that someone has not figured out that this is the
best card in the entire game to play on teh very
first turn.
Basically, his effect clears the field and both
hands for 1000 lp. Pretty good in just that form,
but add in the fact that after all that is over, you
get to draw a card, then you lift a couple of
eyebrows. It loses the burn effect and some ATK
points that CED had, but is able to completely
dominate the game from the time that you summon it
to whenever you purge it.
Basically, you will never actually summon him. He is
just too hard. You need to remove from your
graveyard, 3 DARK Fiends and 1 LIGHT Fairy Very hard
to do. So like everything in Yu-Gi-Oh!, we find a
back door. You sned this guy to the graveyard, and
then you summon Phantom of Chaos, use his effect to
copy Norleras and purge the field and hand. This is
so deadly on the first turn, and so consistent, that
my testing partner has beaten me every time he has
gotten it's effect off.
Now, this guy goes best in a zombie deck, where
Mezuki, Zombie Master and Plaguespreader Zombie can
do all of their maica to take control fo the field
and your opponent is completely lacking the
resources to stop you. You can also dedicate it to a
deck, like th eone that I made using Hand
Destruction and Foolish Burial to get ot to hte
graveyard for Phantom to do it's thing.
Basically, I bet that my partner will kill me for
revealing his secret tech, but there yah go. If you
are going to SJC SF, then you will be able to see
the deck in action, and if you face it, may whatever
god you believe inhave mercy upon your deck's soul,
for it will NEVER be able to even play a card before
you lose.

The Fiend Megacyber
Attrib: Dark
Type: Warrior/Effect
Level:6
Atk: 2200
Def: 1200
You can Special Summon this card from your hand if
your opponent has at least 2 more monsters on the
field than you do.
Today is a review of our choice respectively. I
chose one of my favorites, and that being The Fiend Megacyber. Some may have seen me talking about this
on the boards, but I have been talking for good
reason. Now, my mindset on building decks is based
off Regionals and Shonen Jumps. Locals you can use
some fun stuff, but I am the type to try to either
beat the metagame or improve on it. I kinda did on
the both parts with Megacyber. Some may be wondering
why, when others can see the reason. Let me ask you
guys a question. What do all the top decks do? The
answer is that they summon a lot of monsters
nowadays. There is Teledad, Gladiator Beasts,
Lightsworn, and Zombies. All of these tend to have
two or more monsters on the field. I am talking from
a competitive state of mind, so why wouldnʼt you
want to use this guy to help you synchro summon? If
you are using Teledad and your Maliciousʼs are all
gone, you now have a backup to make some synchros!
Some decks may also have a problem with this. They
may not want to overextend their board and have to
deal with this card. Decks arenʼt based around
tribute monsters anymore for the most part, so they
may have trouble killing this guy, or the synchro
that you may make out of it! I suggest you try this
card out, and see for yourselves what this guy can
truly do!

Yata-Garasu
OK, I know this sounds a bit cliche here, but the
link to the original Yata rating is broken (sadly),
and I really feel that the little bird has gotten
way too much hate over the past four years, that he
needs to have some lovin' once again. Besides, it's
Reviewer's Choice today, and I figured I'd pick that
oh-so-lovable crow, Yata-Garasu. When Yata was still
around in decks, he was a terror. Everyone was
afraid to have him be dropped on them, because it
meant instant loss. Decks were built to get Yata out
and lock up the opponent, and it's for many, many
good reasons he's banned. Besides, he's a spirit
monster, so you get him back in your hand at the end
of the turn - no one could compete with him. His ban
couldn't have come at a better time, and he's
sitting on top of a perch that he'll never get off
of.
But aside from that, I love this card so much - so
much. He's sitting in my wallet right now, staring
at business cards and my voter registration form.
That's how much love I have for this bird, and I
figured you'd all want to know too.

The White Stone of Legend

Today I will be reviewing The White Stone of Legend.
For the casual player that likes to have fun at
local tournaments or Hobby Leagues, this would be a
great addition to every Blue Eyes White Dragon deck.
This card has many combos that help out cards that
have dirscard costs. Snipe Hunter, Lightning Vortex,
Prime Material Dragon and other cards will kind of
have a free cost since a player wpi;d be adding a
Blue Eyes to their hand.
Anytime this card is sent to the graveyard, add a
Blue Eyes White Dragon from your deck to your hand.
It doesn't matter how, just as long as it sent
there. Use it with Future Fusion to bring out Five
God Dragon in 2 turns and add 3 Blue Eyes to your
hand, while cutting down the deck by 8 cards. The
stone can also be searched out by Masked Dragon and
put into defense or to be tributed next turn. This
card opens up the use for Kaibaman also.
The White Stone of Legend is also a tuner, which can
help you summon a Stardust or anything really to aid
you in battle. The stats aren't good, but with an
effect like this they don't need to be. It is a
Light monster, so you can use Honest in a pinch.
This card won't see much regional type play, but
whenever its casual play, The White Stone of Legend
will be a lot of fun to play when you're summoning a
Blue Eyes White Dragon next turn!
