The World Tree closes our short week, another farily
interesting Continuous Magic Card. It's nice to see
all this support for an underplayed Decktype, but
this isn't much better than yesterday's card.
So, it's another card that gains counters, in this
case, Flower Counters, each time a Plant-type
monster is destroyed. I don't like for starters that
this cards counters depends on Plant monsters being
destroyed.
If you remove one, a Plant monster gains 400 attack
and defense until the End Phase. That's garbage, a
permanent gain would be nice, but that sucks.
If you remove two, you can destroy one card on the
Field. That's a lot better, and certainly welcome.
If you remove three, you can Special Summon a
Plant-type monster from your Graveyard. That sounds
familiar.

The World Tree
This is the field spell for plants besides Black
Garden. Each Time a Plant monster dies, you put a
Flower Counter on it. It gains effects based off of
the number of counters removed from it, which is
very similar to Rainbow Ruins. With one removed
counter, a Plant gains 400 ATK. With two, you can
kill a card on the field. With three removed, you
can Special Summon a Plant from your graveyard. It
has all of the strengths and weaknesses of all Field
Spell cards, searchable by Terraforming and killable
by most everything. There is no Legacy Tutor for
this Field Spell, so it is a little harder to get
out than others that do.
Basically this card is outshined in almost every
single way by Black Garden. If it got Counters for
each Plant Summoned, then it would be better than
Black Garden, able to force through destruction as
well as extra Special Summons and even ATK boosts
when you need it. As it is, it is meh at best. If
Pollinosis, Lonefire and Tytannial DESTROYED cards
rather than tributed them, you would have a c ard
that could hold it's own with Black Garden. As it
is, it is an interesting card that really will not
be played anytime soon.

Rare
The World Tree has three effects and depending on
how many plants are destroyed, you get that many
Flower Counters. Each effect has its own time for
the best use, but most likely everyone will be using
the second or third effect. It doesn't matter if the
plant is destroyed by battle or by an effect, The
World Tree will get a counter. Also it doesn't
matter where the plant is being sent. This card is
amazing with Mystic Tomato because you can attack
with it into a stronger attack mode monster and get
a counter and another Tomato, but there are only two
targets for Tomato that are also plant monsters.
Those are Regenerating Rose and Samsara Lotus.
The World Tree also does not have the "once per
turn" text on the card, so you can do these effects
multiple times. The first effect gives your plant
monster a 400 ATK and DEF boost until the end of the
turn. Its nice when you can attack for more damage
or get over a monster when your opponent doesn't
have a Spell or Trap on the field, but destroying a
card is much easier than just attacking. The second
effect will usually be used to destroy a monster
unless a player has a Mark of the Rose ready to use.
The last effect of The World Tree allows you to
special summon a Plant-Type from your graveyard.
Another way we can special summon a Plant from the
grave. We have Monster Reborn, Lord Poison, Miracle
Fertilizer and in some cases Gigaplant, but if you
don't have those cards at the time it would be handy
to have this ready when you need it. With so much
special summoning from the grave, it would be a good
choice to put in Card of Safe Return in a plant
deck. This card is good, but it needs to find the
right plant deck for it to work.

The World Tree
This is another good support card for Plants. Any
time you can get multiple effects from a card, it's
bound to be a decent card, and The World Tree
doesn't disappoint. What's better than using your
dead Plant monsters as a way to destroy something on
the field, or Special Summon a behemoth from the
graveyard and wreak havoc upon your enemies. Its
effect is dependent on how many Plant type monsters
have been destroyed, which controls how many Flower
Counters the card has. This mechanic has been used
by plenty of cards, but The World Tree can
definitely be a great addition to any Plant Deck. As
usual, it's pointless outside a Plant deck, but it
can be devastating inside one.
