Superancient
Deepsea King Coelacanth
PTDN-EN034
ATK/2800 DEF/2200
[Fish/Effect]
Once per turn, you can discard 1 card to Special
Summon as many Level 4 or lower Fish-Type monsters
as possible from your Deck. A monster Special
Summoned by this effect cannot declare an attack and
its effect(s) is negated while on the field. If this
card is targeted by a Spell, Trap, or Effect
Monster's effect, you can Tribute 1 other Fish-Type
monster to negate the effect and destroy that card.

Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth...say that five
times fast.
Superancient? All right, anyway...this is a very
interesting monster, and I believe I like Levia
Dragon better than this, but more on that later.
Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth (SDKC for
short) is a Level 7 Water montser, who is
appropriately a Fish, with 2800 attack and 2200
defense.
Now, once per turn, you can discard one card (of any
type) from your Hand to Special Summon as many Level
4 or lower Fish-type monsters from your Deck as
possible. That's good, as it gives you other
monsters, if only to protect yourself, and this
monster.
However, the monsters you choose to summon can't
attack, and if they have an effect(s), they are also
negated. That sucks, in my own opinion. So, what the
hell do you use them for? You can tribute them to
negate the effect of a targeting Monster, Magic, or
Trap card against only SDKC...
He IS a decent enough card for Fish Decks, but Fish
are still lacking some solid support, sorry folks.
If you use a Water deck, I'd stay with Levia/A
Legendary Ocean, etc.
Ratings:
Traditional: 1/5 Worthless in Traditional
Advanced: 2.25/5 Nice idea, poor execution.

Superancient Deepsea King Coleocanth
Finally, a really good fish monster. BTW this was a
COMMON in Japan. He is 7 stars, which is great and a
WATER monster, and you all know how much I love
WATER monsters. He is a Fish, which is less than
desirable, but hardly counts against him. With 2800
ATK he can hang with the best of them and even tango
with DMoC. However his effect is what sets him
apart. He gets to discard one card from your hand in
order to Special Summon as many level 4 or lower
Fish type monsters form your deck.
Most of you are thinking, wow, what a great OTK
card. Unfortunately our little fishy friends cannot
declare an attack while they are on the field or
activate their effects. But whenever The Coelocanth
is targeted by ANY effect of your opponents, you can
tirbutre a fishy to negate the card and destroy it.
Deepsea Macronema and Golden Flying Fish both fit
this requirement as well as Ocean's Keeper from TAEV.
Macronema also has nifty effect of increasing al
your WATER monsters by 500 when it is sent to the
graveyard, and Keeper also activates it's effect to
search for Cranium Fish or Thousand Eyes Jellyfish
since their effects are only negated on the field.
And the big plus? You can do this as many times as
you want! Just for a discard. You can also get the
Sea KIng out fast with A Legendary Ocean, turning
him into a level 6 monster with only one tribute.
3000 ATK monster that summons it's own army and
thins the deck? Yes Please. If WATER was not
playable before, it pretty much is now, with Skreech,
Dragon Ice and these new fish leading the way.

Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth
And the award for the most run on name goes to.
Well, Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth (hereby
named SDKC) is a monster that's fairly interesting.
I'm personally not a huge water deck person, but
this card does have some decent effects.
- The first effect is definately a double edged
sword. Sure, mass summoning from the deck for only 1
card is always nice, but you HAVE to summon as many
as possible. Which means chances are likely you're
going to be pulling anywhere from 3-4 monsters from
the deck straight to the field. What does this mean?
Mill will rape you. Just hope you don't mill
yourself out of monsters. PoA is definitely
suggested in this deck.
- The second effect isn't really that bad. I mean,
if this card allowed card effects, it would be
simply rediculous. What I like is how it doesn't
mention anything in regards to tributes.
- The third effect is most likely the whole reason
you even summoned this monster in the first place.
It allows you to protect him from targetting spells
(Sakuretsu, Brain Con, Soul Exchange) in exchange
for a fish-type monster on the field. Well you've
certainly got enough fodder that's for sure. It does
kind of make him invulnerble to some degree.
Obviously Smashing Ground will still work, along
with anything that doesn't specifically target, but
he does gain you a pretty good killer for atleast a
little while.
He's also a level 7 (One tribute with A Legendary
Ocean out on the field), and 2800 (3000). For the
cost, he can actually serve as a pretty good
beatstick. I would certainly suggest water decks
running this with a couple copies of Mobius. It's
not like you're not going to have anything on the
field to tribute.
Traditional: 2/5 Since he can atleast stall for
awhile
Advanced: 3.5/5 I really kinda like him. Granted his
name is it's own tounge twister.

Superancient Deepsea King Coleocanth
We finally end the week with a card that I
believe most of you have underestimated greatly
and I HATE it when people underestimate great
cards that has potential if you use your brain
carefully. This card is great in many ways and
here is a list to explain the pros of this card
and how you should or might use it in your
future Fish Deck:
- Has a whopping 2800 ATK/2200 DEF which can
match up with Dark Magician of Chaos' ATK.
- A WATER Fish-Type monster who can combo with
The Legendary Ocean to become 3000 ATK Level 7
monster.
- It is Level 8 so you can combo it with
Trade-In so long as Legendary Ocean isn't on the
field. With Trade-In, you get more cards into
your hand if you don't have enough tribute
monsters to summon the Deepsea King. Then you
can use Premature Burial or Call of the Haunted.
- Once per turn, you can special summon as
many Level 4 or lower Fish-Type monsters as
possible from your deck, but they have their
effects negated while on the field and cannot
attack while on field. This is where people
underestimate this card, but believe me, this
part is probably the best part of this monster's
effect.
- With it's effect stated above in 4, you can
special summon the new other underestimated
cards Deepsea Macrotrema and Golden Flying Fish
from Phantom Darkness while you have Golden
Flying Fish on the field to tribute the Deepsea
Macrotremas and destroy multiple cards on the
field and at the same time, allowing Golden
FLying Fish and the Deepsea King gain 500 ATK
for each one tributed.
- You can use the effect stated in 4 to use
the special summoned Fishes as tribute fodder
for either Light and Darkness Dragon or Raiza/Mobius
the Storm/Frost Monarch.
- You can tribute a Fish you control to negate
the effect of a spell, trap, or monster effect
that targets your Deepsea King.
These are some excellent, combolicious (not
a real word) ways to abuse Superancient Deepsea
King Coleocanth, but if you have any other
combos, deck ideas about this card, or need help
in Yugioh, please feel free to contact me at
pathoon@aol.com. Have a good weekend and
happy dueling!
Traditonal: 1.25/5 (Fish do no
good against Chaos and/or other OTKs)
Advanced: 4/5 (Really good card
and should see play in a Fish deck with the
combos I stated above)
Art: 3/5 (Decent picture of a
King of FIsh)

Friday - Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth
Today we're reviewing a card that's not DARK, but
WATER and a Fish-Type, with an extremely powerful
effect. This card, combined with Ultimate Offering
or Double Summon, can open up OTK opportunities by
tributing the Fish monsters special summoned by its
effect. It's also a great effect because you can
summon high-level Fish monsters and magnify their
power with The Calculator. Superancient Deepsea King
Coelacanth can also be used with Reasoning to make
its effect easier to pull off or making itself
easier to get onto the field, since not too many
players choose Level 7 for Reasoning's effect.
However, the Fish-type theme isn't too prominent
right now, and can't really reach tier 1, especially
not only with this card. If this card is to see play
in competitive areas, either someone has to be
really innovative with deck ideas, or more Fish
support needs to be released.
Traditional: 1/5 - Chaos Reigns.
Advanced: 2/5
Fish Decks: 4.5/5

ok,
I finally sealed my yami have in a piece of
cardboard. Oh, hi! um, todays card is a rather
pointless one.
superancient deep sea colecanth is pointless bcuz
the monsters summoned cant attack. the only maybe
thing it could fit in is monarch, and it wouldnt
even be that good there.
1/5 all.

Friday:
Friday is here once more and today we have a really
good card… Not really actually. It isn’t that horrid
though so lets look at the bright sides:
1)
If
you play a Legendary Ocean Deck this goes to 6 and
only needs one tribute.
2)
You
can special summon and thin your deck at the same
time, which is honestly worth 1 card from your hand.
3)
Most legendary ocean decks usually go for high
attack monsters, that are normal so really the part
of the effect that will negate their effects’ aren’t
a biggy.
4)
Fun
Fun Fun
Really this is a classic example of a fun card that
is on the verge of tournament worthy. What is hlding
it back? Well I mean come on it is a 7 star piece of
crud lol. I would run it for fun though, so yay for
that!
Tradition: NO
