Future Samurai
PTDN-EN027
LIGHT
Level 4
ATK/1600 DEF/1200
[Warrior/Gemini]
This card is treated as a Normal Monster while
face-up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this
card is face-up on the field, you can Normal Summon
it to have it be treated as an Effect Monster with
this effect:
•Once per turn, you can remove from play 1 monster
from your Graveyard to destroy 1 face-up monster.

Friday
Closing the week, we have Future Samurai, a Gemini
monster, who is Level 4, and a Warrior, with 1600
attack, and 1200 defense.
So, if you Gemini summon this guy, you can remove
from play one card from your Graveyard to destroy
one face-up monster on the Field. Now, this is a
Gemini I would definitely play in it's own Deck, and
MAYBE outside.
Granted, it's difficult to get the Gemini
summon...more often than not...but he could work
well.

Future Samurai
Again, another card with potential, but no huge use.
When it comes to Gemini monsters, you have to look
at whether giving up that second summon is worth the
effect. In this case, you get a monster that can
destroy a face-up every turn by removing a monster.
Removing any monster from your Graveyard can be
good, but I don't know it's worth having to summon
it twice on a mere 1600 ATK body. Even with Smashing
at 1 and other removal cards limited or with costs,
I'd probably rather just play those over this --
especially with the discard for things like Vortex,
Snipe Hunter, Raigeki Break, and/or Phoenix Wind
Wing Blast potentially working in your favor instead
of against it.
Maybe there will be a lockdown deck that puts this
to good use in the future. I just don't see it yet.

Future Samurai
Yay, another good Gemini monster. He is a LIGHT
Warrior type that allows you to remove from play a
monster in your graveyard in order to destroy a face
up monster. This is a great effect, and is slightly
comparable to that of Dark Armed Dragon. However it
may only target face up monsters. His 1600 ATK is
good, but not great, as Stratos and Breaker just
walk right over him and the extra turn you put into
summoning him. He is searchable, which is nice and
is a hallmark of the Warrior caste. Gemini monsters
just need a little bit more of a push in order to be
competitive and this guy is a good pick for that
deck when it is playable.

Future Samurai
We end the long week with an interesting
card I received in my Phantom Darkness box which
I bought called "Future Samurai". This card is a
Gemini which makes many people not wanting to
play this card since Gemini monsters, excluding
Giga-Plant and Il Blud, just takes too much time
and effort to summon it twice and get its second
effect, but if you have Superalloy Beast
Raptinus, a common from Gladiator's Assault, on
the field, you'll get it's effect immediately
when summoned. (If you're wondering how to get
out Superalloy Beast Raptinus easily and
quickly, use Future Fusion and Dragon's Mirror
on Gemini Monsters you have to summon it.)
Future Samurai allows you to remove a monster
from your graveyard from play to destroy a
face-up monster on the field. This is a great
way to get rid of threats, but an easier way is
Snipe Hunter though. Good card in a Gemini
deck/Warriors. If you can think up of a good
deck/strategy involving this card, please feel
free to email me them at
pathoon@aol.com and we'll see what to do
from there.

really work around a format of Chaos)

Friday - Future Samurai
At first glance, this card would be thought as Six
Samurai support, but it's not made specifically for
that theme. Future Samurai can work in any kind of
deck that includes more than 5 Warrior-Type monsters
that aren't likely to stay on the field for the
entire duel. Most of us know the consistency of the
Warrior Toolbox decks, but we also know that it's
not easy to keep a weak Gemini monster on the field
long enough to activate its effect. That's one of
this card's downfalls.
We must understand that wasting a summon for the
turn is a great cost for an effect ,and that's
exactly what Gemini monsters require. However, with
cards like Super Double Summon or Ultimate Offering,
we can easily activate the effect. Normally, if the
Gemini effect was really amazing like Il Blud and
its great Zombie support, we wouldn't really
consider the cost of activation unless it was too
huge, but it's not. Despite this, Future Samurai has
a rather weak effect that can be replaced with
removal Spell Cards like Dimensional Prison and Dark
Core; Even if you have to discard a card, it's still
a lot easier to use than Future Samurai.
Traditional: 1/5 - No Gemini's here.

Hi
Fellas =]
Today we're discussing about Future Samurai (I
managed to pull a couple overall). Personally I like
this card because of its searchability with
Reinforcement of the Army and it's ability to +1 the
field. However there are several flaws in this card
that prevents it from seeing the play it deserves.
First of all, its a Gemini and without added
support, it's a 1600 vanilla until you can protect
it for a turn. Don't get me wrong, some Geminis tend
to have beneficial effects worthy of its drawbacks.
Like all Geminis, its Normal status gives it
additional support (Swing of Memories, Birthright,
Justibreak), but everyone always clamors for its
effect and its place in the game
It's effect allows you to kill a faceup monster of
your choice by removing a monster from your
graveyard provided you successfully second summoned
it. In the best case scenario, it sets up your
Removed From Play pile which should see plenty of
use this upcoming format thanks to Escape from the
Dark Dimension, Return and Dimension Fusion
Despite being in the same class as the most
supported Type, its effect is rather slow and gives
you too little for plenty. I would've deemed it a
second look if it had 1500 ATK (Searching a Future
Samurai from Shining Angel and removing that during
your turn sounds nice)
Traditional: 2/5 (Despite being a Light, you'd need
to keep your monsters in the grave for the Chaos
Monsters)
Advanced: 2.5/5 (Would've gotten a better rating if
it was 1500)
Sealed: 3.5/5 (It rapes Draft)
Until Next Time
