Monday
Well, for the first time in about a month, my Card
of the Day for Monday is on time! Anyway, this week
we are beginning to review some Phantom Darkness
cards, and it's a pretty good week folks!
Today we look at Yubel. Yubel is a Level 10 Fiend
type monster, who has 0 attack and 0 defense points,
and a Super Rare I might add. Now, first, he has a
built in Magic Cylinder, so to speak, which is a
rather neat ability.
Furthermore, when destroyed, except by his own
effect, as you must tribute one of your own monsters
to keep Yubel on the Field, (but you don't want to
do that anyway), you can Special Summon Yubel--Terror
Incarnate from your Hand, Deck, OR Graveyard.
That's versatility right there. The Yubel monsters
only get better as they become higher, which is
awesome. They need their own Fiend deck to truly
flourish, but they could be a force to be reckoned
with.
Certainly not Tier 1, but a solid three cards for
sure.
Ratings:
Traditional: 2/5 Nice execution, but too slow.
Advanced: 3.5/5 Definitely solid.

Yubel
What a paradoxical creature. So powerful, yet no
attack or defense points and an effect that makes
you sacrifice your own monsters. So what makes this
card good? Absolutely nothing at all. She is just
the footstep to get to the excellent Terror
Incarnate and unstoppable Ultimate Nightmare.
Basically, this card is used in conjunction with
Doom Shaman as she needs to be destroyed outside of
her own effect in order to bring out her bigger and
badder forms. You get Shaman on the field and then
Gemini Summon it so that it gets its effect and then
bring up Yubel from your grave. Yubel will then
sacrifice Doom Shaman to keep herself on the field
during your end phase destroying herself with Doom
Shaman's effect in the process and bringing up Yubel-Terror
Incarnate.
Incarnate is where it gets interesting as he does
most of the destroying of our opponent. However we
are not reviewing that card today. Yubel herself and
alone is a terrible card, thus I must give her two
ratings for Advanced.

Monday - Yubel
Today, we take a look at a card from Phantom of
Darkness, Yubel. Yubel is somewhat like a Level up
monster, where it can special summon other versions
of itself onto the field when certain conditions are
met. Before we get into that, though, let's take a
look at the effect of this card. His attack and
defense are 0, but that's what makes his effect so
great. When he's in attack position, and an
opponent's monster attacks him, the opponent loses
the battle damage and player controlling this card
doesn't take any damage. Pretty, cool, huh? Well,
there's a pretty huge downfall to that great effect.
At the end phase of a turn, the player has to
sacrifice a monster to keep Yubel on the field.
Yubel, being a monster that has to be summoned by
tributing 2 monsters (which is a high number of
tributes), is already hard to bring out, and his
effect isn't that awesome that someone would go
through that much trouble just to bring him out. I
would say that because he has to be destroyed by
another card's effect, sacrificing a monster or two
at the end phase would actually be the most, come to
think of it. Your opponent most likely would get
sick of this Yubel card sitting on the field and use
some form of removal to get rid of it, allowing you
to summon the Terror Incarnate of this card, which
isn't any worse than Yubel. I'd say that this card
would really become totally useless when Skill Drain
is out, or when it's matched up against a Control
deck (which, by the way, aren't common). I wouldn't
think anyone would run this card except for a fun
card, but not competitively. It's altogether too
hard to summon, and too difficult to use to the full
potential.
Traditional: 1.1/5 - Hey, it IS dark..

well, now
that the top ten lists are done with, it's time
for some cards from phantom darkness! todays is
none other than yubel.
in the anime,
yubel is angry at jaden (for reasons I wont
spoil) and sends him and the whole acadamy to
his own dimension, blah blah blah. the card isnt
all that good.
8 star is
kinda good because of trade-in. dark is VERY
good because of all the support it just got. it
cant be destroyed in battle, good, no stats is
good cuz of reflecting power. the fact that you
cant summon his next incarnation if you destroy
him via his own effect shoots any possibility
this card ever had. otherwise, you could just
destroy him, get out terror, sac that for a dark
horus and summon ultimate nightmare, and proceed
to attack every single one of your opponent's
monsters until you win. now you have to keep
sacrificing until you get torrential tribute or
something. because your opponent will never
use a removal on this thing.

Don't be fooled by "Yubel's" 0 ATK and DEF, this
monster has many ways to exact its vengeance on your
opponent's Life Points. No attack against "Yubel"
can damage you, instead the damage is sent back at
your opponent. Destroying "Yubel" will only make
things worse for your opponent, allowing you to
transform it into the more frightening "Yubel -
Terror Incarnate" and "Yubel - The Ultimate
Nightmare!" |

Yubel
We kick off the Phantom Darkness Review week
with the sinister villian of the next season of
Yugioh GX who apparently is also a killer decent
card. At first glance you would think that this
card is horrific and has no potential because of
its 0 ATK/DEF and the fact that it is Level 10,
costing 2 tributes, but if you read it over a
couple of times especially the effect, this card
has wicked potential in the right deck. What
makes up the drawback of the fact that it has 0
ATK/DEF and is Level 10 is that it is a Fiend,
its a DARK monster, can't be destroyed as a
result of a battle, and has a awesome effect.
The awesome killer effect is that if the
opponent attacks it while it is in face-up
attack position, before you take any damage,
your opponent takes damage equal to the
attacking monster's ATK. It's a Magic Cylinder
effect, but with you also taking the damage, but
that is OK in some situations. Now, during each
of your end phases, you must tribute a monster
you control or you have to destroy Yubel. That
kind of stinks in some situations in a duel, BUT
if you have Doom Shaman on the field with it
Second Summoned (Gemini Summoned) and use his
effect to special summon a Yubel in a graveyard
(Send Yubel to the graveyard with Armageddon
Knight or mostly Foolish Burial). Then during
the end phase, sacrifice Doom Shaman with
Yubel's effect and since Doom Shaman's effect
states that if it's removed from the field, you
must destroy all monsters special summoned by
its effect so you destroy Yubel to activate his
handy effect of special summoning his 2nd form;
Yubel - Terror Incarnate! There are many ways to
get Yubel on the field without the complex,
irritating job of sacrificing two monsters
(Unless you activate Fires of Doomsday on your
opponent's turn) such as the mentioned Doom
Shaman-Foolish Burial/Armageddon Knight combo,
Mystic Tomato, etc. Really good card in a proper
Yubel Deck, but it might be a little complex to
build since its 2nd and mostly 3rd godly
killer forms are quite difficult to find and
purchase especially Yubel - The Ultimate
Nightmare.
Traditional: 1.5/5 (Doesn't
work too well around here since it takes time to
finish the opponent properly)
Advanced: 3.75/5 (Yubel/Dark-Theme
Deck)
