Light and
Darkness Dragon
This card cannot
be Special Summoned. While this card is face up on
the field, it's attribute is also treated as Dark.
When a Magic or Trap card or effect monsters effect
is activated, it's effected is negated, and this
card loses 500 atk and def points. When this card is
destroyed, select 1 monster in your Graveyard, and
destroy all cards you control, and Special Summon
that monster.

Well, you waited two weeks, and here is our
winner...
Light and Darkness Dragon (NOT Raiza...YAHOO!)
We looked at Light and Darkness Dragon just two
months ago and my thoughts haven't really changed a
whole lot, but this Dragon is certainly one hell of
a game breaker in the Divine Monarchy format.
Light and Darkness Dragon, in short, is amazing.
2800 attack is awesome and on pace for a Level 8
monster, and 2400 defense is solid enough to
withstand the 2400 attack powerhouses. Very few
Level 8 (or
7) monsters are played in this game, the two notable
exceptions being Dark Magician of Chaos and Sacred
Phoenix of Nephthys...
Until now. Light and Darkness Dragon may be a
Dragon, and he definately thrives there, but he can
be used in other Decks. I'm not saying that he is
splashable per say, but he can have other Decks
built around him. Our Dragon does have the
unfortunate effect of not being able to be Special
Summoned, but who cares?
Bring it back to your Hand from the Graveyard, and
Summon it again.
This card negates everything. only by lowering it's
own attack and defense by 500 points. Then, when
destroyed, LaDD gives you a monster from your
Graveyard by destroying all the cards you control.
That doesn't sound great, so plan ahead. Have little
or no cards for you to lose, and this can definately
still turn in your favor. LaDD hasn't been out for a
long time, but he will be around for some time to
come.
Ratings:
Traditional: 4.5/5 Yes, two tribute, a Dragon, but
still...it forces BLS or CED to attack him before
removing or exploding and you could spring a Mirror
Force or something.
Advanced: 5/5

Light and Darkness Dragon
This is the best card in Yu-Gi-Oh!, hands
down. 2800 ATK, and a negation effect that
is second to none. He can't be Special
Summoned, which balances out his extreme
goodliness. Then when he finally does bite
the dust, you get a monster from your
graveyard. Incredible, no? There isn't a
whole lot to say about this card that hasn't
already been said. He is the easiest to get,
best promo card ever in Yu-Gi-Oh! and that
makes him more dangerous than any card in
the game. Even little kids can see that once
you summon this card you get a serious
advantage that will pretty much win you the
game. Plus the card art is amazing. So this
is the best card in Yu-Gi-Oh! of 2007, so if
you haven't gotten your 3 copies, get 'em
before they're gone!
Traditional-1/5
Advanced-5/5 ( I would have given 7/5, but 5
is the highest we can give) |

Light and Darkness Dragon
LIGHT / Level 8
Dragon / Effect
2800 ATK / 2400 DEF
This card
cannot be Special Summoned. While this card is
face-up on the field its Attribute is also treated
as DARK. When a Spell or Trap Card is activated, or
the effect of an Effect Monster is activated, that
activation is negated and this card loses 500 ATK
and DEF. When this card is destroyed and sent to the
Graveyard, select 1 monster in your Graveyard. Then
destroy all cards you control, and Special Summon
that monster.
“Overcome all.”
There
has never been a card that could counter every
single archetype. Now, there is.
Light
and Darkness Dragon has rather complicated rulings
due to the combination of 3 effects. First effect
is continuous and thus never takes a chain link.
This effect often does not matter, except for
Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror and possibly some other
exceptions. Mystic Plasma Zone, anybody?
Second effect is what makes this
card so darn good. For 500 ATK and 500 DEF, negate
whatever your opponent throws at you, except Counter
Traps and effects of face-up Continuous Spell/Trap.
First, as everybody knows, this is mandatory
effect. Second, losing 500 ATK and DEF is not a
cost; it is part of the effect. The effect will
activate even if you cannot “pay” for it.
Third effect is the ultimate
backup plan, and this is where Disk Commander really
shines. Target -> destroy -> Special Summon, as
simple as that. Dark Magician of Chaos? Jinzo?
Stratos? Even Raiza, with 2400 ATK, is a threat to
the opponent. Keep in mind that even when you have
no valid target, destroying all your cards will
still occur, no matter what.
I tried to make LaDD focused deck
with The Creator, Mausoleum of the Emperor (yes, you
CAN pay 2000 LP to Normal Summon this guy in the
first turn), Herald of Creation, and Trade-In. It
fell apart when I realized I should have been
preparing for the Regional.
If you look at the text, third
effect is incredibly similar to Vampire Lord’s
ability. Crush Card Virus will trigger this. This
card just forces the opponent to use whatever he or
she was saving in order to get rid of itself. Then,
Disk Commander will arise, and a new one will
replace the destroyed one. GG?
2 Shonen Jump in a row. Not
bad…how long will the streak last?
Traditional: 5/5 LIGHT and
amazing
Advanced: 5/5 A card that
can counter anything?

The First
Hokage |
Light and Darkness Dragon
This guy was definitely anticipated at the end of
last year coming out in November in the manga and
later being mass produced in the Special Box for
him. Anyways, most everyone knows what he does.
2800/2400 8 Star, 2 tributes, and can't be special
summoned. Once he hits the field, he shuts your
opponent down and you down. Every time an effect
card is activated he negates it until he can no
longer negate, which is 4 times, because he loses
500 attack and defense when that happens. You can
chain to his effect and allow the second card to go
off. Regardless, San Mateo and this past Shonen in
Orlando proved that LaDD was still on top at the
moment. His other effect is when he is destroyed and
sent to the graveyard, you destroy all cards you
control and special summon 1 monster in the
graveyard. Pretty nifty.
He's been played mainly in Perfect Circle just with
him splashed in it for the Negation, which is nice,
and 2800 attack is nothing to scoff at once he hits
the field. There are other variants that he is
played in, but Perfect Circle AKA Twilight Circle
with him in it is the main deck. He's definitely
solid, and I can see why this guy made number 1.
My Ratings:
Advanced: 4.4/5 Definitely Solid
Traditional: 3.7/5 Kind of Slow |

Light and Darkness Dragon
We finish of the top 10 cards of you fellow
duelists have selected and nominated for us to
preview and confirm as a really good card(s).
This card negates anything at the cost of
reducing its ATK/DEF by 500, it's a dragon,
combos with Trade-In and Dragon's Mirror/Future
Fusion for Five-Headed Dragon, treated also as
Dark when on the field, and you can special
summon a monster from your graveyard by
destroying all cards on the field you control.
Really good, but sadly it can't be special
summoned, is slightly difficult to summon since
it is a level 8 monster, and card effects that
activate after LADD negated something and still
is in the chain doesn't get its effect negated.
Good card and very playable as it is easy to
find and cheap to buy.
Traditional: 2.5/5
Advanced: 4/5 (Really good
here)

and the number one favorite card
is.......................................................................
LIGHT AND DARKNESS
DRAGON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not suprised. this thing shuts down your
opponent's resources like bOoM and costs them
more than just two cards. although they can
play around it with certain cards such as
treeborn frog and spirits, and monarchs. really
nice
5/5 trad. stops chaos like a switch
