#4...Zombie Master
Two Zombie cards in a row...interesting...
Zombie Master is an interesting Ultimate Rare we got
in Tactical Evolution. It is Dark and Level 4 with
1800 attack, which is respectable, yet a whopping 0
defense, which in short, sucks, but is still
searchable via Pyramid Turtle, but he is Level 4, so
you may not want to be searching for him.
Enemy Controller and Book of Moon are both rampant
in this format, and 0 defense is not good. This is a
good tech card for Zombie players though, as their
deck moves back up to the top this format. You can
discard one monster card from your hand to special
summon one Zombie from either player's graveyard.
Odds are, you will probably only get that from your
own graveyard, but you never know.
It is unfortuante that the discard has to be a
specific card, but you could discard the monster you
were planning to summon. It's a solid card, and I'd
play one or two if I were using a Zombie deck.
Ratings:
Traditional: 3.25/5 Dark and an 1800 attack
beatstick Zombie?
Awesome.
Advanced: 4.25/5 For the same reasons listed above,
plus what it can
do on it's own.

Zombie Master
This is
the other half of the Zombie deck's success.
You discard a card and get a level four
zombie from your deck. Since Pyramid Turtle,
Zombie Master and Plague Wolf were all
lethal candidates, this card is easily
better than Il Blud. It is quicker and
easier to summon as well as working with
Recurring Nightmare since he has 0 DEF. He
comboes with any level four or lower zombie
and also sets off Card of Safe Return. I
still have people asking if I have any
Ultimate copies of this card. I can see the
ZOmbie deck being good for a really long
time, and when it does crawl back into the
light of day, this card will be at the
forefront of it's success.

Hello,
Zombie dude!
This
is what drove Zombies over the edge – easily full
field with two copies of Card of Safe Return and you
can, considering number of cards committing and
gaining, safely overextend (although this is not
always the best choice). Because you can Special
Summon the discarded monster, you can swarm with
Zombies in a turn.
I
believe this card IS revolutionary because all
Zombies had were 3 copies of Book of Life, and
Vampire Lord to safely bring back monsters. And
Vampire Lord was a weenie compared to Cyber Dragon
and Monarchs. However, this card puts everything
into “shadow realm,” so to speak, because what good
are all the cards when you can end the game?
Drawing Il Blud/Ryu Kokki is usually a very bad
thing. However, Zombie Master turns any bad draws
into live cards, and with Pyramid Turtles and other
Zombie Masters, you can be sure that Spirit Reaper
is virtually ubiquitous. I mean, you can just use
the card over and over and over…
That
reminds me, if this card is no longer face-up on the
field before the resolution, the effect will be
nullified. Why? Because the ruling says so. I
cannot understand the textual reasoning (there is
nothing special…), but oh well. That means Book of
Moon, Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, Torrential Tribute,
Bottomless Trap Hole, and other cards can rip a good
hand into a terrible one full of dead draws. D.D.
Crow pretty much pecks at the Zombies as well. But
then, these are cards that most decks suffer from.
I like
the fact that Zombie Master is neither broken nor
horrible. While it does have a weird, detrimental
ruling, 1800 ATK monster that can bring out more
Zombie Masters, Pyramid Turtles, and Spirit Reaper
is just…awesome. It gives the Zombies just enough
nudge to win Shonen Jump and disappear when Friday’s
card came out.
Now
that Vampire’s Curse (managed to pull an Ultimate!
Yay!) and Goblin Zombie (UDE and the Secret Rares…)
are out, Zombies may once again see another play.
Goblin Zombie can search out nearly all the Zombie
monsters commonly used, and its effect triggers just
like Sangan’s – and we all know how annoying that
is.
With
Dimensional Prison flying around, it may be harder
to keep Zombie Masters on the field or the Graveyard
for long. Still, a turn or two are all you need to
blast off.
Traditional: 3/5 It IS fast.
Advanced: 4.5/5 You can
make a non-Zombie deck around this dude. Neat. |

Zombie Master
Today we look at the number 4 card and it's Zombie
Master. This card is arguably much better than Il
Blud, and has a more potent effect. You discard 1
Monster from your hand to special summon 1 level 4
or lower Zombie Monster.
Pretty good.
This card is basically what made people jump back
onto the Zombie bandwagon when Tactical Evolution
came out. A lot of people say Il Blud did it, but I
will disagree as Il Blud is not needed for the
Zombie swarm deck to work.
Basically you can discard 1 Zombie Master for a
Zombie Master's effect when he is already on the
field and special summon the discarded Zombie
Master, and you can keep doing that with Zombie
Master until you hit your limit, and then bring back
a Spirit Reaper or a Pyramid Turtle. Either way,
you're swarming. A lot of decks use Zombies with
Card of Safe Return as well to draw cards while
dumping your hand to swarm. A nice combo, I might
add. It's a great card and it's definitely not as
hard to get as Il Blud.
In Traditional, Zombies are decent, but they are
still not the best with Chaos around.
My Ratings:
Advanced: 4.25/5
Traditional: 2.4/5

Zombie Master
One of the major key essential cards for
Zombies, and again, I REALLY don't like Zombies.
They are wickedly broken and some cards should
get semi-limited or limited on the next banned
list. This guy is solid as a LV.4 Zombie with
1800 ATK (Beatstick) and the ability to once per
turn, discard a monster from your hand to
special summon a Lv.4 or lower Zombie from
either graveyards. Combo it with Pyramid Turtle
or another Zombie Master in your hand and
special summon it and you have a broken
combo there, especially when playing Card of
Safe Return.
Traditional: 1.25 (Again, gets
destroyed by Chaos and other OTKs)
Advanced: 4.5/5 (Zombies Only)

Like
yesterday, today we're reviewing a key card for the
Zombie theme. Zombie master really speeds up the
deck like Il Blud does, allowing the Zombies to
swarm and deplete life points quicker than usual.
First, though, we'll talk about how Zombie Master is
awesome for the Zombie theme aside from his effect.
This card is an 1800 beatstick, which is RARELY
released or made for the theme. Regenerating Mummy
is an 1800 4-star, but its effect basically makes it
a vanilla monster.
With a discard engine, Zombie Master can also
provide for other useful effects like Treeborn Frog,
Il Blud, Book of Life, and Premature Burial. The
main effect, though, is that he can special summon
as many number of Zombies to the field from the
Graveyard as the number of cards in your hand. And
that's not all, people. Zombie Master can special
summon monsters from EITHER Graveyard. Mirror
Matches are not preferred in today's meta, since
Zombie Master can special summon that one 4-star
Zombie onto the field that the player needs to make
his/her opponent 0. Overall, Zombie Master is an
awesome 4-star Zombie 1800 beatstick and is the KEY
to making the Zombie deck competitive, even more so
than Il Blud is.
Traditional: 2/5 – Zombies can do pretty good, and
so can DARK monsters, but not without Chaos. Not
THAT great.
Advanced: 5/5 – In a Zombie Deck
Art: 4/5 – Lol, I love the eyes. |
