Continuing the Lightsworn theme,
we come to Ehren, Lightsworn Monk, who is a Light
attribute monster and Level 4, with 1600 atk and
1000 def who is a Warrior. Now, Ehren is one of the key cards of the
Lightsworn Deck.
Why?Because, when it attacks a defense position
monster, that monster is returned to the owner's
Deck.
Granted, while it may not be able to take out some
stronger monsters with its 1600 atk, with a few
cards to shift some powerful monsters into defense
mode, Ehren can really shine.

Ehren Lightsworn Monk
This is Aurkus' sister. She is a TCG exclusive and
is being seen in play from Lightsworn to Gladiators.
She has decent stats of 1600 ATK and 1000 DEF and is
party to all of the myriad of support that Warrior
type monsters have garnered over the years. A LIGHT
attribute makes her good for Honest as well.
However, if stats were all that made a card we'd all
be playing Summoned Skull.
Ehren is the terror of the facedown monster world.
She doesn't just auto destroy it Like Mystic
Swordsman or Drillroid, she knocks that monster all
the way back to the deck. As this forces your
opponent to search it out again or simply draw it
again it can be very disruptive as well as friggin
annoying. She does force a flip like Drillroid, so
Spy and Dekoichi are fine, but Spirit Reaper,
Marshmallon and Gladiator Beast Hoplomus get flung
back to the deck.
This is easily the second best Secret Rare in the
set, as even Honest pales in comparison. She can be
used in almost any deck as tech or counter to the
current metagame and I must admit has a rather fine
picture to go along with it.

1600/1000
This is one of my favourite of Lightsworn Monsters.
This is one of the most splashable cards for any
deck but more side decks. Besides Ryko, this is one
that you can use in any deck, it's a really nice
utility card. With a lot of decks like Dark Armed
Dragon decks and Gladiator Beasts, they both run
Reinforcement of the Army, so you can easily get
this card out and just "kick" the monsters back to
the deck. Most players can utilize this card in
their side decks like how before people used Mystic
Swordsman LV2, and others Drillago. Though Drillago
gets rid of the problem, and Mystic Swordsman LV2
does for just Face-Down Monsters. Ehren gets rid of
those small walls that decks can have, and with many
decks having Legendary Jujitsu Master in their side
decks, and Spirit Reaper in the main deck. Many
people will be able to use this card to their
advantage, and it can be even a late game push,
where they can sacrifice a monster with high DEF, or
just one with more DEF than monsters on your side of
the field has ATK. Like in many instance with time
situations and Cyber Dragon, you can just kick it
away and use the rest of your monsters to finish off
your opponent. Too many instances does this card
work for all decks but also for Lightsworn decks.
What people forget is that this can help support all
the aggression that the deck packs by taking away
any defense that your opponent puts out there. This
card is one of those great for a decktype, but good
overall for all decks. One more Lightsworn for
Judgment Dragon and also it has an effect that can
put you in position to win.
Traditional: 2.5/5, Being a Light Monster, it helps
many decktypes of Chaos but also can get rid of
anything in DEF mode that's in its way.
Advanced: 4/5, Lightsworn can utilize this card so
much, and so many times, it can work out for so many
other decks to. With many people teching defensive
cards like Gravekeeper's Spy, Legendary Jujitsu
Master and everyone's favourite Spirit Reaper, this
card "kicks" them to the curb and can win you the
game.

Secret Rare
Todayʼs card up for review is Ehren, Lightsworn
Monk. This card is simply amazing, and one of my
favorites. Being searchable via Reinforcement of The
Army basically makes this card. Ram this guy into
whatever your opponent has to throw at you, then
play Enemy Controller or Boom Of Moon and send the
monster back to the deck.
You may have a little trouble getting ahold of
this card, but its worth the hastle no doubt. If you
are familiar with all these anti-meta decks floating
around, this is one of the key cards in my opinion.

I love “Kick Monk”.
Any defense position monster gets the boot back to
the deck.AWESOME! If her effect activated before the
flip effect happened it would be restriction worthy. This card is definitely an auto inclusion in
any Lightsworn build and it is splashable in any
deck that has to attack to win.Go Chun Li!!!

Ehren, Lightsworn Monk
I'm really excited to be
reviewing this card, today we'll be looking at what
is arguably the most splashable card from LODT and
is undoubtedly one of, if not, the best
stand-alone card from the set.
Playability -
Are you kidding me? A light warrior just works.
Searchable by Rota, and boostable by Honest, Ehren
can easily be fit into a variety of great decks.
Anti-Meta, Lightsworn, Warrior Toolbox, Counter
Fairies and even Gladiator Beast Sidedecks are just
a sample of the great decks that can benefit from
the awesomeness that is this card. The only way this
couldv'e been more playable would be if it
was unCCVable and could get under GBind/LLAB...
Score - 8.5 / 10
Plus
- Cards like this are easily turned into advantage,
however, to use Ehren most effectively it is best to
already have knowledge of what monster it is you are
attacking into. For instance, swinging into a
Jujitsu Master, Homplus, Reaper, Sangan, Marshmallon,
Fear Monger, or Econ/Booked monster is usually a
very advantageous play. However, if you hit a Ryko,
GK Spy or Morphing Jar the flip effect will still
activate and your opponent may not necessarily be
set back. However, when Ehren does hit a non-flip
(that isn't Blast Sphere) it can be substantially
damaging. With the increase in Monarch use, and the
resurgence of cards like Jujitsu Master, Ehren's
ability to disrupt floating tribute fodder can be
amazing.
While Ehren probably won't lead
to any direct advantage, she can easily stop your
opponent from gaining an upper hand.
Score - 14.5 / 20
Power - Move
over Drillroid, Ninja Grandmaster, Mystic Swordsman
LV2 and Grand Mole, there's a new chick in town.
Ehren's effect is just so much more effective than
any of the above. While MSLV2 and Mole may stop flip
effects, it is important to note that Ehren's
semi-beefy 1600 doesn't leave it as vulnerable to
battle as it's pip-squeak predecesors. For game two
against Gladiator Beasts do not be suprised if you
notice a couple of Enemy Controllers, Book of Moons
and Ehrens used against you in order to deal with
your big Special Summoned monsters or Jujitsu
Masters. What I personally love about Ehren is that,
unlike Mole, when you attack a monster with the
Monk you are not only clearing a monster, but your
opponent is set back one card, will not be able to
re-play it on a follow-up turn and will need to have
a fairly strong monster in order to remove it as a
threat.
Score - 17 / 20 (A very unique
and powerful effect)

Okay, so here's the bad thing. (and good thing)
ˇ
ˇNote that "Ehren, Lightsworn Monk"
does not say "without flipping the monster
face-up". The effect of "Ehren, Lightsworn
Monk" is applied after the monster is
flipped face-up, but before damage
calculation. If the Defense Position monster
was face-down and has a Flip Effect, the
Flip Effect will activate and resolve
normally after it is returned to its owner's
Deck.
So, you will get to see what kind of deck they are
playing... but... if it's a flip, well, she's kinda
wasted. Also, the 1600 attack hurts. That puts her
under Darius, Prisma, Laquari, Stratos, Grepher, and
just all sorts of other troublesome odd off cards
like Blue Thunder T.
She's a needed side deck though, and 1 to main deck
in light sworn, and the effect is still rad. Since
it works on ANY face down/up. So it still works on
that ugly face up spy your opponents had for turns
in his corn Monarchs.
Advanced - 3.4/5 (Best card all week)
Traditional - 2/5 (She's a light and bounces sets,
and mills)
