Closing the week, we come to Dark
General Fiend, a Level 5 Dark monster (as if you
didn't know) with 2300 atk and 1700 def (as if you
are
surprised) and who happens to be
a Warrior (again, surprised?)
Dark General Freed is, in a word,
awesome.
Obviously, the biggest downside here, is that Dark
General Freed cannot be Special Summoned.
However, he has two other
incredibly useful special effects.
First, he destroys any Magic card
that targets a Dark monster you control. That is awesome to have built in protection
for any type of monsters, even if it's only against
one type of card.Furthermore, Freed allows you to add any
Level 4 Dark monster from your Deck to your Hand
instead of conducting your Draw Phase.
I will point out that the 2300
attack points does kind of suck, but Freed here
stands our against most of the others, and is still
a very useful card for many Dark Decks.

Dark General Freed
I'm a little biased toward this card. Can you guess
why? Well for starters he has 2300 ATK and 1700 DEF
which is pretty good for a one tribute monster. He
is of the DARK Warrior variety which places him in
the center of the best support engine in the game.
Unfortunately his effect is great. Well that was an
oxymoron. He has the ability to search for ANY level
4 DARK monster instead of your draw for the turn.
This is excellent if you have an Allure of Darkness
in hand and need to get rid of, or need quick
access to Dark Grepher or Armageddon Knight.
However, he cannot be Special Summoned. This just
kills the card. No Monster Reborn, DDR-Different
Dimension Reincarnation, and no Reasoning.
My guess is that UDE got scared of the success of
Darklord Zerato and in a panicky fit decided to clip
Freed's wings before he took off. If that simple
line of text was gone, I would probably be playing a
toolbox of DARK Warriors and fallen shinobi to
victory. As it stands, Jinzo is a far better choice,
with higher ATK and a more useful effect as well as
being Special Summonable.
I plan on keeping my copy, but just for sentimental
reasons.

Today’s card up for review is Dark General
Freed. This card has some good/bad things going for
it. Lets take a look at the upsides of it. it’s a
Dark Monster, so that is a big plus. It being a
warrior is a big plus as well. You can play Warrior
Returning Alive to return it to your hand. It’s
effect is pretty decent as well, to be able to turn
your draw phase into grabbing a Level 4 dark monster
from your deck.
This card has more bad things going for it than
good though. In a metagame that we are in right now,
a 1 tribute and 2300 attack isn’t anything
spectacular. Especially since all the tributes being
used is 2400+. With all the tributes doing something
upon summon, this card looks pretty bad. If your
gonna use a tribute monster, go with a Monarch. Now
you also cannot special summon this monster, which
really hurts the playability of this card. Its cool
that you cant use any targeting spells on this card,
but no one is really using many at the time. This
card will fall under the: keep it in your binder,
and hope that it becomes more playable section

Sooo close, but so far.The first line is the last you need to read.Negation of targeting Spells in always
welcomed and searching your deck for a level 4 DARK
monster is decent. The inability to special summon this monster
is too big of a downside in the current state of Yu
Gi Oh.
Looks cool though.

So, this guy stops any effect of spells (and only
spells) that target your dark monsters. So, what? he
stops brain control. that's... about it. And instead
of drawing, you can add a level 4 (Exactly 4)
instead of drawing. That's just about fear monger,
phantom of chaos, dark grepher, and armageddon
knight.
Highly not worth his tribute. He does not even creat
a plus. He created a minus for being tributed and
can't even stand up to gyzarus, thestalos, or prime
material, let alone DAD or DMOC.

Happy Monday!
Dark general freed is not that good. At first
glance, you'd run it in three's in DaD, but think
about it, it's slow, not enough attack, and takes a
tribute.
