Dark Paladin

Thursday

Nimble Musasabi is today's card, who may remind you of another card, with a similar name, perhaps, who increases your Life points as opposed to dealing damage to your opponent?  Anyway, there is no need for great detail here.

If you are playing a Deck and need more Burn, on any kind of Burn Deck for that matter, you can do without this.  This is worse than Giant Germ, you can't even use the Special Summoned Musasabi for tribute.

Crap...utter crap.

Ratings:

1.25/5  It IS better than Wednesday's card...I suppose.

Art:  4/5  Almost cute

General Zorpa Nimble Musasabi

Well the cousin of Nimble Momonga is not nearly as good as he pretends to be. 800 ATK is horrible, but actually not bad for a level 2 monster. EARTH doesn't really help it much, but Beast does. This may end up reviving the old Baburn strategy. When he is destroyed by battle, you Special Summon 2 more from your deck to your opponent's field. They cannot be used for a tribute summon, so they'll lock your opponent down just like Ojama Trio did.

Used with Creature Swap, we might have something here. Then you can combine it with Giant Rat for some pretty neat shenanigans with Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest. However, once Synchro monsters come out, it will be useless, as they just send to the graveyard, so it is like giving your opponent and extra 4 level stars to bring out Stardust Dragon. It was a nice try, but like most exclusives fell short.

The Card

It has a very decent effect. This card is used in Baboon Burn. Baboon Burn died when Ojama Trio was restricted to one. This card would of been great if Ojama would of stayed to 3. We seen a Baboon Burn deck top with the 3 Ojama's, but we have never seen it again since then. They used this card early when the set came out and I'm almost sure someone made top eight with it at a national tournament, but not here In America, If Ojama was not restricted, it would be easier to get it off. Attack a Ojama token with Nimble Musasabi and get out 2 more dealing 300 from Ojama and 500 for Nimble Musasabi's effect. Gyaku-Gire Panda is almost the King in this deck next to Green Baboon, Defender Of The Forest. This deck used Foolish burial to put Baboon in the GY. Play Ojama and then attack with Panda and deal a lot of LP. If panda or any other earth is destroyed, you pay 1000 and get a big beat stick which is Baboon that keeps coming back. Then you just keep attacking them until you win. You would also use cards such as Just Deserts and Secret Barrel to burn out the player. That's where Ojama Trio is so important. Ude realized that Ojama is the key card in this type of burn, and we probably will never see Ojama trio back to 3. This deck is almost dead. Unless Scapegoat came back to 3 and everyone ran it, this deck will never pop up or if Plasma Control becomes more popular.

Advanced

It's too slow now, and you need Ojama first turn to even benefit from using this card. The format is too fast now and a lot of decks set up early and are very explosive and Gyzarus can ruin anything you want to save on for later. All the decks in this format can win in 1-3 turns, which is why this deck will never be as good as it use to.

Traditional

Not good here.

Combo's

Ojama+this card. Their tokens+this card. Nothing beats having Ojama at 3 to combo with it.

Suggestions

Look at the deck that made a Nationals top eight and play that and find out if it's worth playing. Which you will find out, it doesn't have a chance this format.

Art

It isn't anything too great. 2/5

Let me start by saying that this card is really hard to pronounce. I think I said "Musabi" about five times before I noticed the second set of 'sa'.

Anywho, NMus is actually a very interesting card that I initially completely misunderstood. My first impression was "This is Giant Germ. Why do we have a new name for Giant Germ?" Then of course I noticed the text that mentions your opponent's side of the field and suddenly I understood.

NMus is an almost entirely combo oriented card, as his ability is only worth while when you have something in hand or on the field worth dealing damage with. Otherwise you're merely giving your opponant protection (or Enemy Con bait). As such, this is effective in a Hino-Kagu deck, along with anything that's control heavy. Don Zaloog and Masked Sorcerer (Why would you be running Masked?) both have a field day with this card, along with pretty much anything that's main power relies in dealing damage.

The stats are lackluster, but that's quite obviously for a reason. It can suicide a Malicious - which is really funny when you think about it. Unfortunately Dark Armed really just ignores this for the most part.

All in all, this card definitely needs a specific type of support to run at it's full potential. It's splashable to a degree, but with how much better it works with support it's not really worth it. Just watch out for E-Con and D-Hero Plasma and this baby should work like a dream.

Traditional: 2/5 This is... not the best place for it.
Advanced: 2/5 I like it. It certainly has potential.

Today’s card up for review is Nimble Musasabi. This card is actually pretty decent. It being lower than a 4 star really helps it’s cause. You can grab it via Sangan or Giant Rat. This gives Beast decks a spark, but it is still not at competitive level. But anyways, you may be thinking why is this card any good? The big answer is Gyaku-Gire Panda. This panda gets pretty big if they kill one of your nimbles, and can end games rather quickly.

Other than using this card in a beast deck, it should not be played anywhere. Beasts are a pretty fun deck to use, but if you want to win on a consistant basis, go with something else

Just a bit too late for BaBurn.  This card is a reverse Giant Germ that would have been a staple in the Baburn deck.  It can combo with Ground Collaspe to create a “soft summon” lock on your opponent, but that being said nothing left here.

Advanced 1

Advanced BaBurn 3, higher if Ojama Trio gets unrestricted.

so BASICALLY, you have a very limited strategy here. He inflicts 500 to your opponent and gives him two cards. you can...

A: lock them with ojama trio and this since they are non tributable
B: Use grinder golem or lava golem
C: Use it for fun

Because of the limits to the card, it's pretty hard to use it competing play. Ojama is also at one. Many people don';t play scapegoat due to glads.
