Super-Ancient Dinobeast
I'm back for a while -- had a bunch of stuff to take
care of, and although I'm still wrapping up a few
things, I've got enough time to do some CotDs this
week.
The Dinobeast isn't incredible, but it is
much-needed theme support. Full-blown Dino
decks get a 2700 ATK one-tribute monster and a
built-in Card of Safe Return for the deck type.
The 2700 ATK isn't as spectacular as it once would
be considered, given that most players expect their
Tributes for 2400 ATK monsters to immediately
destroy, remove, or spin a card...while this gives
dino players a half-decent high-level monster, it
still doesn't change the fact that I see multiples
of this in the junk foil bin at my local, and sadly,
it's where it belongs currently.

Super Ancient Dinobeast
Welcome to TCG/OCG week as we explore the TCG and
OCG promos of LODT.
Very few people realize the awesomeness that is this
card. 2700 ATK on a level 8 monster is not great,
but neither is it horrendous. 1400 DEF is pretty
bad, but that is the case with most offensive cards
these days. The effect is a Card of Safe Return for
Dinosaurs and you can Tribute Summon it for one
tribute if you tribute a Dinosaur.
Well, in an all dino deck, 2700 for a single tribute
is awesome, as it will crush anything that doesn't
need two tributes. It is the highest ATK monster for
one tribute except for Majestic Mech Goryu, but it
dies at the end of the turn, which is not good. That
is pretty much the high point of this card, because
it's second effect is meh at best.
Usually any effect on legs is better. Royal
Firestorm Guards, Raiza the Storm Monarch and
Elemental Hero Stratos are all examples of such
cards. However, Dinosaurs really lack the ability to
do much with Dinobeast's second effect. Sure they do
have their own Call of the Haunted, but that needs a
discard and the effects of the card are negated. You
can use it for Trade-In and some awesome plays with
tributing, but not really worth playing yet.

Super-Ancient Dinobeast
So I'm wondering, how old do you
officially have to be to qualify as "Super-Ancient?"
Anywho, as
far as the actual card itself goes, I kinda like it.
2700 ATK is just shy of DAD and it actually has an
advantage of 400 more DEF (whoopie). It's a nice 8
star (Trade-In) that you can get out for only one
tribute - provided it be a dino - and the whole
Earth attribute is always a good thing.
The effect is an one that only
Dinos could have. This being because there are only
19 other Dinos in the game (If I'm correct - which
I'm probably not). Drawing a card for bringing back
a dino is actually pretty darn good considering the
arrival of Limit-Reverse.
Unfortunately, in most cases I'd
rather be targeting Disk Commander. Of course, if
you're running a dedicated Dino deck (try saying
that three times fast), there's still a pretty good
amount to target that'll be worth while.
All in all, this could have been
a ridiculously good card. The ATK could use a small
boost (3000 seems OK), and maybe a bit more support
behind the theme, but it what it is. That's worth at
least something.
Traditional: 1/5 Technically
this is something.
Advanced: 2/5 There's some potential, but until
Dinos get some really good support, they're not
going to impacting the meta.

Hey, sorry about last week, I was
at summer camp at which I found true love.
Super-ancient dinobeast is one of
the awesomest names since cyber dragon. Period.
Unfortunately, it's not that good, seeing as the
only extra card that can summon dinos is a trap,
making it too slow for the format.
1/5 all.

In a Hydrogeddon w/ Gilasaurus
beatdown deck this card could be “teched” other than
that it is just another waste of an ultra/ultimate
spot.

The Card
This card is not that bad in a Dinosaur deck, and is
bad in everything else. The effect isn't that bad
either. Dinosaur deck's aren't that amazing, and the
only card I remember seeing playing that was a
Dinosaur is Hydrogeddon. You probably don't want to
use it because the deck is based on pure aggression
and using this card means using cards that take a
while to set up and drawing more cards does nothing
unless your gone to win with them, but it wouldn't
be bad if you bring back monster from the Graveyard
and drew cards and then attacked him with all the
monsters. But what is the chance you will be able to
put that many monsters in the Graveyard and not be
killed in the few turns before your able to set
things up? The card to me is too slow and
situational, but is a nice 2700 1 tribute beat stick
that can be nice if you happen to end up drawing
Monster Reborn or Premature Burial in your Dinosaur
deck.
Advanced
The deck is too slow and would get demolished. It
takes too long to set up a win condition, and most
likely if you will lose if you don't draw what you
need or can't keep monster's on the field for very
long.
Traditional
It's not good here.
Combo's
You can play Babycerasaurus with Limit Reverse's to
abuse Super-Ancient Dinobeast's effect. You can also
use that with Card Of Safe Return to draw even more
cards. You can also play Birthright and common cards
like Sabersaurus to also draw more cards with
Super-Ancient Dinobeast's effect. But all this
drawing cards hurt drawing stable hands, and you
might not end up drawing Super-Ancient Dinobeast's,
so running 2-3 Card of safe returns is a must if you
choose to run this kind of Dinosaur deck.
Suggestions
If you choose to play a Dinosaur deck, then your
gone to have to make it pure beat down and playing
cards like Card of safe return, brightright, and
limit reverse. They will slow down the deck and make
the deck have to wait a few turns to be able to set
up to draw more cards. But with choosing to a play a
deck that draws a lot you have to ask yourself, if
you end up drawing all those cards, "how do I win
with them now." If the deck can't win with +3
advantage on an opponent or more, than the deck
lacks a good win condition which Dinosaurs don't
have yet besides aggression which does not fit it
with drawing cards and setting up plays. So this
card wouldn't be that great in a Dinosaur deck
besides having a one tribute 2700 beat stick. But I
would not play Dinosaurs until they get better
support.
Welcome to a new week of cards,
and this week is probably the best week we have had
in a the last month or so, but let's begin.Super-Ancient Dinobeast is our card today,
and he isn't Ancient, he's Super Ancient.
Anyway, our Dinosaur is a Level 8
monster with 2700 attack and 1400 defense of the
Earth attribute. Now, Level 8 would normally require two
tributes, but Dinobeast can be tribute summoned in
face-up attack position by tributing one monster,
but only if that tribute is a Dinosaur-type monster,
which is appropriate.
Furthermore, when you Special
Summon a Dinosaur-type monster from your Graveyard,
you get to Draw one card from your Deck. This isn't a bad card, honestly. It is a reasonable monster with some nice
effects to strengthen a weaker Decktype. However, this Format eats this card, and all
the other Dinsoaurs alive.
