Today will be a short review, not
even because the card may or may not be bad, but
because it's a very simple Trap card.
Vanquishing Light allows you to
tribute a Lightsworn monster you control to negate
the summon of a monster and destroy it.It isn't a bad tech card for Lightsworn,
although it is a -1, as you give up the Trap and a
monster, but depending on what you're negating, that
could be a good thing.I still wouldn't play more than one, as you
are all ready using other cards that can destroy
monsters, and probably easier than this.

No...just no. We tried this game mechanic
already, it doesn't work.
This is Horn of Heaven with a theme-specific cost,
which actually makes it worse than Horn of Heaven.
If you drew a card afterwards, or got to activate it
merely by having a Lightsworn on the field or
something, that might be different. Cards are
supposed to be getting better, not worse.

Vanquishing Light
Not exactly a high point for TCG exclusive cards.
The effect is simple, tribute a Lightsworn to negate
the summon of a monster and destroy it. Practically
this has few applications, unless you run against a
Monarch heavy meta, in which case the -1 becomes an
even trade.
Lightsworn decks want to build field presence, and
they don't play any traps. This card is working
against the very fundamentals of the Lightsworn deck
in it's competitive form. Plus if you wanted to
negate a summon that badly, you could use Solemn
Judgment or even Horn of Heaven, which lets you
tribute any monster to negate the summon.
There are simply better options to negate a summon
out there already, and not in this deck.

The Card
This card is a bad Horn Of Heaven. This card
also has no room in Lightsworn. Lightsworn
is very aggro and it needs to win as fast as
possible. Lightsworn can explode on an
opponent and can win very fast. The problem
why they have not won shonen jumps yet is
because people complicate that builds and
even add cards like CCV and Necro Guardna
that just add more inconsistency issues. I
think Light Sworn is a top deck and will
stay a top deck. That is just my prediction
and this card is horrible to put in a
Lighsworn deck, because there is so many
cards you can add in a Lightsworn deck.
Advanced
This card isn't good in any other deck
besides lightsworn and even in Lightsworn
it's a bad version of Horn of Heaven.
Lightsworn is a solid deck and as many
people think it will never do good. Take my
words on it. Lightsworn will win a Shonen or
be one of the top 2 decks soon. Maybe not
this format, but the next or the other.
Lightsworn will be good and is still good
and very explosive. It's almost a better six
samurai deck that isn't as luck based as
Sam's, but people say that. Because they
have no idea how Lightsworn really run. They
have many big beaters, which means they have
an advantage over GB. Lightsworn also has
advantage over DaD. So game one you have
both the top decks dominated. Now game 2 you
side and you start winning. People just keep
making bad unneeded cards in the builds. You
don't need CCV, Necro Guardna, Allure Of
Darkness, and other cards that complicate
the build. It's a simple deck, so keep it
simple and you will win tournaments.
Traditional
Bad in advanced so extremely bad here since
Lightsworn would see no play.
Suggestions
Do not play this card or the unneeded amount
of cards people add to their Lightsworn
deck's.
Ya know, I have a real
hard time not asking myself "Why wthis over Horn of
Heaven?" I have yet to actually answer that question
myself, so I'm just going to pretend I never asked
it. My only assumption is that perhaps Vanquishing
Light can negate summons activated by other cards
effect's (IE: Marauding Captain).
Anywho, negating a summon
is a nice way to prevent something catastrophic. In
Traditional this lets you stop CED and the like
prior to their effects activating. Being a
counter-trap is also a nice bonus as Fairy can abuse
it.
Unfortunately, the cost kinda
sucks. Tributing a monster isn't bad - since in most
cases you can exchange "monster" for "Scapegoat
token". However, when it's a Lightsworn monster that
kind of throws a kink in it. Granted Lightsworm
decks usually don't have too much of a problem
keeping monsters on the field, if you're going to
bother summoning the monster, you probably need it.
All in all, I do not like this
card. It's simply too weak of an effect with too
high of a cost. It's not really worth while. Which
is why it deserves a:
Traditional: 1.5/5 It can stop
CED, but there are several other options I'd prefer.
Advanced: 1/5 Seriously, there's better.

Tualtin is not that good...It would be if it
counted any monster destroyed by effect too: It
would SCHOOL DaD! Unfortunately, in this format, it
isn't that good and a much circumstantial. (how
do you spell that?)
2/5 all.

Negating the summon of a monster is a neat trick for
a counter trap and getting another Lightsworn in the
graveyard is an added bonus. The problem is that most utility based
Ligthsworn deck are already pressed for space.Sadly this card won’t make the cut even in a
tech situation.
