Closing out Magic card week, as it
only took me five days to realize this, we have
Golden Bamboo Sword, which, again, is incredibly
simple.
You can only play this if you
control a Bamboo Magic card, then, you can Draw 2
cards.
Nice Draw attempt for some
support, and their are people who use Bamboo cards,
but it just isn't worth it.Sorry to be so short this week, but it was
one of those +/- weeks :(

Golden Bamboo Sword
This might see some kind of play in a combo deck in
the future. The Bamboo sword itself does
nothing, so you'd need to activate one of these just
to break even, and the other two would put you up a
grand total of two cards. But a deck with an
insane amount of draw cards drawing towards a
specific win condition might be able to take
advantage of those two cards.
But to be realistic, I don't see decks needing
drawpower that badly to resort to this. You've
already got Jar of Greed, Reckless Greed, Upstart
Goblin, among other discard/draw engines.
Someone who actually plays a deck involving effects
around the Broken Bamboo sword will have their deck
suck a little less, but that's about it.

Golden Bamboo Sword
Well, You draw two when you have a Broken Bamboo
Sword on the field. This is the most powerful draw
we have except for Six Samurai United. However you
have to play an equip spell that does nothing but
give your monster 0 ATK in order to get it off. I
guess it could work in a Warrior Toolbox Strategy
with Don Zaloog, Soul Devouring Bamboo Sword, Mataza
the Zapper and Armed Samurai Ben Kei. Oh wait you
need Arms Hole in order to get to the Broken Sword
faster even in that deck.
I would be interested to see how this deck worked,
but without Arms Hole it is almost not worth it. I
experimented with it for a while, but it takes far
too long to set up, although Spell Striker was a GOD
in the deck, and Don Zaloog became 4 times better. I
am anxious for Arms Hole, can't you tell?

Golden Bamboo Sword
I'm not a terrible fan of equips to begin with, and
this just kinda blows. Now don't get me wrong, I
love drawing cards, but not when I have to have
first play a completely useless spell card and keep
it alive long enough to draw this.
The best thing about this card is you don't have to
destroy BBS inorder to draw, so you could use
multiple copies for the same BBS. It still sucks
though.
Maybe if Broken Bamboo Sword actually increased the
attack by a decent amount it would be a
consideration. But seeing as how it does nothing, I
really don't feel like wasting my time on an
incredibly potential dead draw. Granted there are
things that make getting BBS easier, but nothing
really makes it worthwhile.
I suppose if you were running a Ben Kei deck that
utilized random equip cards, this would be a
consideration. Otherwise, leave this in the "do na'
touch" pile.
Traditional: 1/5 There's no reason for this to be
here
Advanced: 1.5/5 Only because it's slightly less
worse here

Now this is a very interesting card. This can
provide as another engine to draw more cards if
someone wanted to try to take another route and make
a possible OTK or FTK. This can make a potential
lock. What's interesting about this is that the Soul
Devouring Bamboo Sword has a great effect. It can
provide as a Yata-Lock. Meaning your opponent does
not get to draw a card. Whats amazing about this is
if you can get out enough monsters and make your
opponent skip his draw phase and have no outs in his
hand to protect him self. You can keep attacking him
until the Soul Devouring Bamboo Sword dies on your
second standby phase.
He will be afraid to summon another card making him
have a clear field for you to attack him. This card
has a lot of potential, and the fact that we have so
much draw engines as Destiny Draw and Allure Of
Darkness, and another Draw engine for an amazing
card like Soul Devouring Bamboo Sword can make the
deck go off fast The speed that this provides for
Soul Devouring Bamboo Sword is amazing and makes it
worth playing.
I think if someone tries very hard and make a great
deck with Soul Devouring Bamboo Sword and uses this
card to provide more speed, than they can make a
great deck and provide a lock down. Meaning that you
put your opponent in a position, they won't be able
to defend themselves, because they can't summon a
monster being afraid being run over. Soul Devouring
Bamboo Sword problem is that it has to cause battle
damage, but their is so many cards that have a Fairy
Meteor effect, that this deck can be very dangerous.
For example you can use Mefist The Infernal General
with Soul Devouring Bamboo Sword and cause them to
lose cards and skip a draw phase locking them down
completely. This card is a potential draw engine and
makes Soul Devouring Bamboo Sword so much better.
The problem with Soul Devouring Bamboo Sword is that
you need another "Bamboo Sword" meaning you will end
up running Broken Bamboo Sword, but Golden Bamboo
Sword makes up for running the Broken Bamboo Sword.
If Soul Devouring Bamboo Sword didn't need another
"Bamboo Sword" to be equipped this card would work
then a Bamboo lock down could would be decent, but
it still had potential.
If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me
on the boards.
Advanced- 2.5/5- With the right build, it can be
pulled off.

Golden Bamboo Sword
The first time I saw this card I assumed this would
be a staple in any OTK deck based on Royal Magical
Library. However no one has proved this by doing well
at a Shonen Jump or Regional. As well this card
could be used in a deck that wants to run the other
Bamboo card with has the effect like Yata, which
will stop the opponent from drawing for 1 turn, when
damage is dealt.
All these decks are very combo oriented and may
never see great success, however when playing for
fun at locals it could work well sometimes.
