Well, we continue this week looking at new cards
from Phantom's Darkness, and we open the week with
Dark Nephthys. Dark Nephthys is not as good as it's
cousin, Sacred Phoenix, but it isn't necessarily
bad.
Dark Nephthys is Level 8, so it does require two
tributes, but our Dark Phoenix has a loophole around
that. If you have three or more Dark monsters in
your Graveyard, you can remove two of them from play
to send Dark Nephthys to the Graveyard.
Then, on your next Standby Phase, you can Special
summon our 2400 attack Dark Phoenix to your Field.
However, instead of destroying all Magic and Trap
cards on the Field, you can only destroy one. Dark
Nephthys is a bit more balanced than Sacred
Phoenix...
Dark Nephthys isn't a bad card, really it isn't.
However, it just is outclassed by other cards...like
Mobius, namely. It's a great card for your Dark
decks, and can definitely be a powerful deck on it's
own.

others. Try it

Monday- Dark Nepththys
I'll be starting Pojo Card of the Days again. Rather
than go through a convoluted, gimmicky system, I
think I'll simply be offering brief thoughts on each
card that distill the essence of their creation (a
lofty goal). I want to offer my thoughts for each
card in the scheme of competitive premier level
events, and casual regionals/local tournament level
events.
I have not played Traditional in years, so don't
hold me to ratings on them. Also, I will be rating
cards on their overall design, function, and how
well they contribute to existing themes (with extra
fondness for those themes that needed a boost).
Today we have Dark Nephthys. This is an incredibly
well-designed card that's been overshadowed by the
broken nature of the Dark Armed Dragon one turn
kills.
Premier Level: This card is a bit too slow to be
running. You often won't have a turn to get its
effect naturally, but it harmonizes with Strike
Ninja. This one is an odd enabler, removing two
darks and sending one to graveyard for +1, while
Strike Ninja is an even -2 darks. A good player can
manage their darks easily, take a look at Sang Bui's
Costa Mesa build for an example.
That said, I don't really like this strategy. First,
I think a flood of darks such as Morphing Jar can
slow you down for more than a turn. Also, this card
is dead weight in the early game if you draw it with
DaD. However, the triple Return/Escape that Sang
incorporated was a brilliant idea. Sang was featured
on the Pojo USA vs Canada battle a few years ago,
when very few respected or knew his name, and I'm
glad to see him back on top at the circuit.
Casual Level: This card is extremely well-designed,
and will benefit immensely once DaD is restricted or
banned. It has incredible synergy with numerous
cards, including off-beat strategies such as Winged
Beast-Icarus Attack, and even Bazoo Return. Great
synergies with Trade-In as well.

Master Tricks
Dark Nepthys
Hello everyone again! Sorry I've been gone
for about 2 weeks, more? I'll do my best to
write more CoTD reviews and new articles with
new stuff coming out so fast. Anyway, on to the
review.
Dark Nepthys used to peak my interest into
playing, but isn't too great like the all mighty
Dark Armed Dragon. Let's see the pros about Dark
Nepthys and how you might or should use him
cleverly:
Level 8 monster so Trade-In works on him
perfectly as a discard to draw 2 fresh new cards
from your deck.
Dark-Attribute so Allure of Darkness works
on him also to be removed from play to draw 2
cards from your deck.
When it's special summoned in any condition,
it destroys 1 spell or trap on the field. (Note:
You must activate it's effect when successfully
special summoned unless effect is negated and/or
summon is negated from cards such as Solemn
Judgment)
Cards including Monster Gate, Reasoning,
Monster Reborn, Escape from the Dark Dimension,
Return from a Different Dimension, D.D.M. -
Different Dimension Master, DImension FUsion,
Premature Burial, etc. can all trigger Dark
Nepthys' effect. Dark Nepthys' own effect can
also trigger it too.
Can be special summoned to the field on your
next standby phase by removing 2 Dark monsters
in graveyard while there are 3 or more in your
graveyard and put it into the graveyard. (In my
opinion, this tactic is a little too slow
compared to Dark Armed Dragon's instant summon
when there's exactly 3 Dark monsters in your
graveyard)
2400 ATK to kamikaze with cards such as the
Monarchs, Jinzo, Prime Material Dragon (A card
on the rise), etc.
Dark Nepthys is not too bad, but is just a
little too slow in our Chaos-Like fast,
aggressive format where Darkness rules. I am
currently thinking of ways to counter the Dark
Armed Dragon Return deck, so it anyone has any
suggestions or even a possible decklist who's
purpose is to disrupt and destroy the Dark Armed
Dragon deck, please feel free to tell me at
pathoon@aol.com. I would appreciate them
greatly.

too great like Dark Armed Dragon)

Monday March 24th: Dark Nephthys
Blasted Easter. Almost forgot to post my
reviews...
Anyways, today we're talking about Dark
Nephthys, one of the Dark remakes that
Phantom Darkness has to offer. Compared to
the other Dark Monsters, this one is
considered the most underrated and I'll
explain why.
The Dark Phoenix has a special summon
capability incase you can't tribute summon
it. By removing 2 Darks from your Grave
when you have 3 or more, you can send it
from your hand to the graveyard in order to
special summon it from the grave during your
standby phase. When that happens, you get
to blow a Spell or Trap card on the field.
The good thing about Dark Phoenix is....that
it can be Normal or Special summoned in any
possible way adn when it is Special summoned
in any ways such as using its own effect,
summoning it via Premature, Reborn, Escape,
Return, Fusion, Reasoning, Gate etc, you get
to blow up 1 S/T on the field. This card
also helps Dark Armed Dragon by removing
excess waste and dropping him before her
Revival. This adds versatility
Now lets compare between this Dark Remake
and the original Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys.
The Sacred version allows a steady revival
with a automatic Heavy on the helm only if
destroyed by a card effect. As good as that
effect is, its very hard to summon it.
You'd have to lose 2 monsters on the field
to drop this card and has a chance to remain
a dead card when you can't even run over a
monster with 2400 or more attack
They're both equally good, but this format
calls for Dark Nephthys

Well, I'm
sorry about being late. I didn't get the e-mail
on time, so I've been thrown off a little.
But, I'm still writing in, with extreme
apologies. Anywhy, todays CotD is dark nepthys.
I do belive
that this is 'dark week'. And numero uno is the
dark version of sacred phoenix of nepthys. Not
much more to say, interesting dark tech, but a
little counterproductive. I'd personally put
this in a side deck along with the dark creator
and 3 D.D. burials along with other stuff. maybe
even D.D. scout plane. But it is kinda slow...so
here's the ratings.
trad.2/5 with
the unpredictable cards wandering around here,
it might not be as useful once you get it out.
