Today we look at very interesting monster card,
Prime Material Dragon, or PMD for short. PMD is a
Level 6 monster, who is obviously a Dragon and of
the Light attribute, with 2400 attack, which is good
as it matches other 2400 attack powerhouses.
First off, PMD has an odd ability of any effect
damage a player would take instead increases that
players Lifepoints by the same amount.
That's good for you, and not so good to happen to
your opponent, but it probably isn't realistically
that big of a problem.
Secondly, when a card effect is activated that would
destroy a monster or monsters on the Field, you can
negate the activation of the card and destroy simply
by discarding one card from your Hand to the
Gravyeard.
That's certainly good, and yes, this card does
promote bad hand management, at least to an extent.
However, what's one card to negate something like
Lightning Vortex?
Hand disruption and Control don't seem to be too big
right now in this Format, at least not now. It's not
a terrible card folks.
Ratings:
Traditional: 2/5 It is a tribute monster, but it is
Light, and has a place in Dragon Decks.
Advanced: 3/5 A solid enough card, but I doubt it
will see much play.

Tuesday- Prime Material Dragon
Again, I am rating cards based on their overall
design and utility to impoverished themes.
Premier Level: This is another wonderfully designed
card that is simply overshadowed by a far too
dominant cookie cutter. It's a bit too slow to run
against Burn(which has gotten rocked heavily by Mr.
3 for 1 any removal Dragon), and any archetype that
has a use for it would simply get smashed by the
tier 1 decks.
Casual Level: The card has numerous, intriguing
usages. You can combo it with all sorts of off the
wall life point based cards, and use it to counter
Burn. Prime Material Dragon also supports light
types running stuff like Freed or Soul of Purity,
Dragons that run things like Stamping Destruction
(lol) and even the infamous LORD OF D.!!!
I like the anti-destruction effect as well. Thunder
Dragon, Night Assailant, Treeborn Frog, and Volcanic
Shell can all circumvent the cost for a basically
permanent 2400 attack beatstick.

The First
Hokage
Prime Material Dragon
Alrighty, continuing on with Phantom Darkness
reviews we will take a look at the super rare Prime
Material Dragon. This card has some potential, just
not in this format at the moment.
Let's dive into this further. He's a light, level 6,
and a dragon type monster. He also boasts solid
stats of 2400 Attack and 2000 defense. His effect
also allows you to gain life points instead of
losing them when any effect would inflict damage.
His second effect is also pretty nice. When a card's
effect to destroy a monster on the field is
activated, you can send 1 card from your hand to
negate and destroy the card. I think that's
definitely solid, I just wish that it was faster
since Dark Armed Dragon is dominating this format
along with Turbo and Magical Explosion. If you get
him out there, then there's a safe bet, he might be
out there for a little while, but once something
like Dark Magician of Chaos or Darklord Zerato hit
the field and attack over him, it's down hill from
there. In a slower format, I think this guy would be
pretty good, but right now, I say he's side board
material.

Master Tricks
Prime Material Dragon
We look at today one of the 2 cards of this
week's CoTD reviews which I wanted to talk
about. This card peaked my interest to a whole
different level b/c this card is probavbly one
of our best solutions into disrupting and
destroying the Dark Armed Dragon Return's
multiple strategies. Here are the pros about
Prime Material Dragon and how you should or
might use it in future duels, especially against
Dark Armed Dragon Return decks:
Level 6 2400 ATK beatstick to kamikaze with
Monarchs, Jinzo, etc.
All effect damage to players becomes LP gain
instead by damage attempted to be inflicted
(Note: This aids your opponent as well. If
opponent is inflicted effect damage, he/she
gains that much LP instead also)
You can negate a card effect that destroys a
monster(s) on field by discarding a card from
your hand and destroy that card, even if it's a
monster. (I do not think this effect can negate
Solemn Judgment, Pulling the Rug, Divine Wrath,
etc.)
You can use effect mentioned in "2" and use
Graverobber as a good combo to steal/use an
opponent's spell in their graveyard and gain
2000 LP. Sweet!
You can use effect mentioned in "3" to
negate and destroy powerful destruction cards
recently used, including Darklord Zerato, Dark
Armed Dragon (I think so, but please contact me
at
pathoon@aol.com if I'm wrong about this),
Lightning Vortex, Torrential Tribute, Mirror
Force, Nobleman of Crossout, etc. Really nifty
card and can also be a great sidedeck option
too!
Dragon-Type so you can use cards like
Dragon's Mirror or Future Fusion on it to fusion
summon Five-Headed Dragon.
Can control and limit your opponent's card
uses and options as long as you have cards in
your hand to discard.
Using Night Assailant as a discard is not a
bad option as it can bring back a Flip-Effect
monster to your hand, including itself (I
believe so).
This card is a card I'm considering into an
Anti-Dark Armed Dragon deck and should be a
definite card to consider into main decks and
sidedecks as well.
Traditional: 3.5/5 (There is a
whole hell of cards to negate and gain LP from
damage cards here)
Advanced: 4.25/5 (This card is
a card to consider playing in main decks or at
least sidedecks)

Tuesday March 25th: Prime Material
Dragon
Prime Material Dragon is one of the best
cards to grace this set and this card
happens to be a UDE World Exclusive.
This card has 2 effects. The first
effect is rather overlooked and could spell
disaster for the unprepared. PMD
allows any effect damage such as Burn to be
reverted to LP Gain. This already
makes it a solid side deck choice. The
other effect is the more important
one. By sending 1 card from your hand to
the graveyard, you can negate and destroy
any card that attempts to destroy a monster
on the field. Think of this card as a
Rainbow Life and My Body as a Shield rolled
into a Monarchs Body
One of the best Dragons released so far

Well,
I thought it was dark week.
Prime Material Dragon is the
answer to burn. And any kind of
humongous hitter deck. Single-handedly
accomplishing the absolute best of both
categories. But it cant be
splashed. All in all, one of those cards
that take skill to play. ish.
