Aztekipede, the Worm Warrior is our card for today, a rather interesting Insect monster. Aztekipede...such a needlessly long and fairly difficult to say name.

Anyway, Aztekipede is a Level 4 Insect monster with an excellent 1900 attack and a very paltry 400 defense who happens to be of the Earth attribute. Now, you cannot Normal Summon or Set our Insect Worm Warrior.

You can only Special Summon this card by removing one Insect type monster in your Graveyard from play. Now, as a nice bonus, when this Insect inflicts damage to your opponent, they must send the top card of their Deck to the Graveyard.

It's definitely a solid beatstick for the Insect Deck, but has no place elsewhere. You play it in its own Deck, or not at all :)

Wednesday- Aztekipede, The Worm Warrior

Basically, you have to compare this card to Doom Dozer because they support the same deck and hurt each other. This card is bad, terribly designed, and generally an epic failure.

Premier Level: Insects will never even sniff top tier without drastic support given, since the Swarm engine is horribly outdated in such a fast format.

Casual Level: Doom Dozer dominates the field, can swing over anything, fuel OTKS, while this card is a situational special summoned Gigantes-ish monster with 1900 attack and a terrible, terrible effect. I have no clue why they're giving Insects the sub-property of sending the top card from the Opponent's deck to the graveyard. If they want to simulate insect eating (like termites), they should let you call a card in the opponent's deck to destroy (great idea!)

As it stands, the Worm Warrior is a lackluster 1900 attack monster, situational, that doesn't even float or create any utility.

The First Hokage Aztekipede, the Worm Warrior

Today we look at this new Insect that could have some potential... It's Aztekipede, the Worm Warrior.

With 1900 Attack and being an insect, I'd rather just be playing Insect Knight that has the exact same attack without the special summoning. This is just a white washed Doom Dozer, except you remove 1 less Insect from your graveyard to get rid of it. Insects were only used in the Demise build for the OTK, but now that Advanced Ritual Art got knocked down to 1, I don't see insects as viable options anymore. An interesting card, that will be not looked at, and probably won't see any play anytime soon.

Master Tricks
Aztekipede, the Worm Warrior
What we are reviewing today is the miniature version of Doom Dozer from Shadow of Infinity, which we saw a lot of play in Demise OTK. Thanks to the new Ban List, Demise OTK pretty much met its end since Advanced Ritual Art, its essential ritual spell of the deck, is restricted to 1 copy per deck. Aztekipede is also a useful card in Demise OTK decks, but it came a bit too late to even see play anymore, except into some sort of Insect-Deck Out deck I've seen worked a couple of years ago, but vanished since then.

I don't really want to talk too much about this guy since he isn't worthy in almost any deck, except an Insect-Based deck. He can't be normal summoned or set, can't be special summoned except by removing an Insect monster in your graveyard from play. It has a beatstick 1900 ATK with a weak DEF of 400. When it inflicts battle damage to your opponent, it sends the top card of opponent's deck to the graveyard. This tactic can either disrupt a Dark Armed Dragon's 3 Dark monster graveyard count, send a useful spell/trap to the grave, or help fuel their graveyard to summon out Dark Armed Dragon or Darklord Zerato. This card is a gamble to play, and I don't suggest to play it until Dark Armed Dragon sees its end with a counterpart deck or the next banned list.

Ed Wednesday - Aztekipede, the Worm Warrior

Today we're reviewing a rather unusual card from Phantom of Darkness that doesn't fit in with most of the new effects we find in the set. Aztekipede, the Worm Warrior is somewhat like The Rock Spirit and The Flame Spirit, because they all have the effect of removing from play 1 monster of the same type/attribute to be Special Summoned to the field. Like the old cards that resemble this one that I just mentioned, I don't think this card will see any competitive play. Aztekipede's effect forces the opponent to send one card from the top of their deck to the Graveyard. There is only one good part of this effect, and it isn't all that great. The good part is that the effect can cause the opponent to lose a key card that they need such as a Destiny Board card or a piece of Exodia, or just a monster that they needed to end the duel. It can also cause the opponent to deck out, but that rarely happens nowadays. The horrible side of this effect is that it powers numerous decks in the format. Dark Armed Dragon can easily get its DARK monsters in the Graveyard, Disk Commander can easily be thrown into the Graveyard for future advantageous purposes, numerous strong monsters can be dumped into the Graveyard, allowing for cards like Premature Burial and Monster Reborn to bring them back, and more DARK attribute monsters can be sent to the Graveyard to be removed from play for DAD's effect. In conclusion, this card isn't any good at all in the current format, not even in an insect deck, simply because its effect isn't strong enough or fast enough.

Traditional: 1/5 - No insects here.
Advanced: 1/5 - None here, either.

Wednesday March 26th:  Aztekipede The Worm Warrior

Today we're reviewing Aztekipede The Worm Warrior, another UDE World Exclusive that debuted in Phantom Darkness.  This card happens to be the b------ child of Doom Dozer.  As Doom Dozer sports 2800 ATK while milling 2 cards from opponents deck and removing 2 Insects to summon it, Aztekipede removes 1 Insect to summon it, has a paltry 1900 ATK and mills 1 from opponents deck when damage occurs.

So ya, I expected UDE to actually do something better instead of making a weaker version of a Konami Card

I hope I'm not late. That'd be bad. anyways, the card I'm reviewing is Aztekipede, the Worm Warrior. HAHAAAA. what a weird name!

bugdown might actually be a serious deck with the release of this. think about it, they got saber beetle, howling inscect, doom dozer, inscect knight, and now this! that'd be a fun deck to play. this along with dozer could shift it to a return deck even.
