IL Bud is up for a re-review today, and was a great
card for Zombies back when it came out last Summer,
even though Zombies were only Tier
1.5/2 back then, struggling to hold on. Fortunately,
that isn't the case for Zombies now.
IL Bud is a very nice monster and a good addition to
a Zombie Deck, despite being a Gemini monster. It is
Level 6, and only has 2100 attack points, which
isn't the best of things, and neither is only having
800 defense. However, 800 defense is able to be
searched out by Pyramid Turtle.
The ability to Special Summon a Zombie from your
Hand or either player's Graveyard, even once per
turn, is a good effect, as long as you have the
necessary monster to summon (eg, something worth
summoning.) The biggest downfall here isn't being a
Gemini, it's the non standard 2400 attack for a one
tribute monster.
IL Bud is a must for your Zombie Deck, and you
should definately be using him :)

Il Blud
Been a while since this guy was reviewed, but he has
gotten so much better since the release of the two
best Zombie cards, Mezuki and Plaguespreader Zombie.
He is generally going to play a big supporting role
in the new Synchro version of the deck, but there
will be times that you were glad you ahd him around.
Il Blud is one of the good Gemini monsters
(alongside Elemental Hero Neos Alius and Gigaplant)
for a while he was the most expensive car din Yu-Gi-Oh!,
in fact some argue he was the FIRST of the new
expensive card trends. But NO MORE! He i snow going
to be readily available to the dueling public when
he is released as a promo in the CSOC Special
Edition.
Well, his effect is kind of mediocre right now, but
he can get back a crucial Zombie Master,
Plaguespreader Zombie or Goblin Zombie and his
effect is often going to be mitigated by the fact
that you just might WANT those cards that he is
getting to go back to the graveyard.
All in all a solid card for a great deck.

Todayʼs card up for review is Il Blud. Very nice to
see that a big money card is getting the reprint.
Everyone should have an opportunity to compete. But
letʼs talk about the card itself. This effect is of
course brutal. If only he wasnʼt a Gemini(but then
again he would be super busted). The zombie deck is
all about swarming and special summoning, so this
guy was needed a lot in the past. Now, we do have
easier ways to summon(Mezuki), so Blud is kind of in
the shadows now. I still love this card and think it
should have its place in the new age zombie deck.
Only downside is that this guy will get run over but
quite a lot of stuff, and that he is a tribute
summon. But most times, if you wanna use up your
summon with this guy, you should be winning this
turn anyways, or at least close.

Once it was now an expensive card, now it is a promo
easily to get. As we all know, Il Blud is a Zombie
and can be special summoned in many ways. When you
get the Gemini Summon, you can special summon a
Zombie from either grave or your hand. Chances are
it will usually be the grave. Its another reason why
to play Card of Safe Return in Zombie decks. Since
we have Zombie World, we can take their monster
without wasting another card. Use this and
Plaguespreader Zombie to Synchro Summon Stardust
Dragon or any 8 Star monster. The only downside to
Il Blud is destroy everything brought to the field
by his effect, but since everyone has Solemn
Judgments you don't have to worry about that.

I am having a hard time reviewing this card just
because I find it… uninteresting. I actually
like a great many things about it, but for some
reason, nothing.
Stats:Il Blud is a Level 6 Dark
Zombie/Gemini Monster with 2100 ATK and 800
DEF. Being Level 6 isn’t the worst level in the
world: obviously it can hurt that it requires a
Tribute to Normal Summon, but since I like game
balance, I am glad that it does. It is a
Dark/Zombie, which means it enjoys some great
Support, not quite the best in the game but way
up there. Being a Gemini Monster brings it even
more support, and more importantly tones the
card down. As a Zombie with such a low DEF
score, it can be brought out via Pyramid
Turtle and that means you’re still getting a
bargain to Normal Summon and then use the
effect. Yes, that even factors in its sub-par
ATK and DEF scores.
Effect(s): Summon it again to gain the
effect of Special Summoning a Zombie from your
hand or either player’s Graveyard. If this card
wasn’t a Gemini Monster, this effect would be
severely broken instead of just really powerful,
since you could summon up to four more copies if
both players ran it. As is, you give up your
Normal Summon to get a Special Summon, and it
seems like a good trade. There is the catch
that if anything gets Il Blud off the
field, you’ll lose whatever it was you
Summoned. Either protect Il Blud or find
a use for the Special Summoned Monster and that
won’t matter.
Uses and
Combinations: Zombie deck staple, I
believe. Unless you intentionally build your
deck around lower-leveled Zombies (and I believe
you could), at least one copy of this card
should be in your deck. I’ll let the others,
who are much more familiar with the metagame,
tell you if you need more (either in the Main or
Side Deck). Clearly this card makes Synchro
Summons easier as well, since you can fetch the
new Zombie Tuner, Plaguespreader Zombie,
reviewed last Friday, or fodder for another
Tuner with ease. Getting this off a Special
Summon plus Normal Summon of Il Blud is a
true bargain. Combined with all the other
Zombie Special Summons, you might even be able
to keep Il Blud himself.
Ratings
Traditional: 2/5 – I would expect Zombie
decks now have enough to make a really good deck
here… but this is a format for horribly powerful
decks that make you wonder how facing one even
constitutes “dueling”.
Advanced: 4/5 – A must run for all but
specialized Zombie decks. I think I’d prefer
Zombie Master myself, and focus on the lower
level Zombies.
Art: 3.5/5 – Suitably creepy. Based on
some of the translations I’ve seen for this
cards names in other languages, it might be some
sort of living… er… undead gateway, which isn’t
inherently obvious to me from the art until I
found that out, so while cool and appropriate, I
don’t think it was exactly clear.
Summary
Go. Play. Enjoy.

Il Blud
Like yesterday's card, Il Blud is a Zombie with a
Special Summon ability, but what makes this card so
much better than Plaguespreader Zombie is the fact
that you don't have to spin a card to get his
effect, and he has 2100 ATK. But, on the downside,
Il Blud is a Gemini-type (meaning you have to Normal
Summon him before you can Special Summon), which
then takes up your Normal Summon for the turn, he's
a six-star, meaning you need to Tribute, and he
still has the downside of everything going away when
he is removed from the field. He's probably best
saved for the late game, when all you need is that
final push to knock your opponent into the "lose"
column, and that's when you'll see him most. Expect
him as a one-per-deck tech card, but I don't see him
doing too much more.
In Traditional, there are much better cards; he'll
be taking up space in the trade binder.
