Book of Eclipse...another Quickplay Book Magic
Card...anyway, this is a fairly useful Magic card.
Book of Eclipse does exactly as its name implies, by
"eclipsing" the Field by changing the position of
all face-up monsters on the Field to face-down
defense position.
During the End Phase, flip all face-down monsters
your opponent controls face-up. Interesting...that
includes any face down monster cards your opponent
controlled that may have not been effected by Book
of Eclipse itself.
Furthermore, your opponent Draws one card for each
monster flipped up by this cards effect. That IS a
big downside, but realistically, your opponent
probably isn't going to have more than one or two
monsters on the Field.
Then again, that turns your own card into a -1 for
you, and +1 or +2 (or even more) for your opponent.
However, it could be used to destroy a monster or
something if you had nothing on the Field at the
time you played the card.

Book of Eclipse
My initial reaction to this card is that it was a
piece of fail. Not Shapesnatch-level fail, but fail
nonetheless. I tend to think that by looking at it
vs. Book of Moon.
Book of Moon as a defensive option -- blocks one
attack.
Book of Eclipse as a defensive option -- blocks all
attacks, but feeds your opponent free cards for each
monster they had. while it lets you put your
monsters in ATK mode and run over their defenders
next turn, that's equalized out by your opponent
having drawn a card for each monster they had -- and
that's IF your attacks are successful.
Book of Moon as an offensive option -- weakening an
opponent's monster to where you can knock it out,
typically while in the Battle Phase to eliminate
some options your opponent has.
Book of Eclipse as an offensive option -- since you
won't have used your manual Battle Position changes
yet, you can knock out the opponent's monsters while
they're stuck in F/D defense, and if your attacks
are successful, it stops your opponent from drawing
anything. However, a simple Mirror Force or anything
else that would stymie your attacking for the turn
grants your opponents enough free cards to where
they'll probably win.
There's one situation I do like Book of Eclipse in
-- and that's an extremely flip-heavy deck where you
not only put your opponent's monsters in a position
where you'll be able to knock them out, but also
recoup your investment. Flipping a face-up Night
Assailant, Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive,
and Mask of Darkness face-down, and getting to flip
them back up and use all of their effects, AND
possibly kill all your opponent's monsters to
prevent opposing card draw, can be a very powerful
play.
My prediction: Someone uses this as the key card in
a Tier 2 deck that gets featured on Metagame but
doesn't Top 16.

WOW! Does anyone NOT read this card and go wow? It
is so combolicious that I can just taste it. LIke
the previous book cards, this one is rather good.
You can stop attacks, set up combos and even force
an aggressive player to draw extra cards he/she
doesn't need to be closer to deck out.
Even though the Book shines because it is a Book of
Moon for the whole field, it is even better in the
fact that it is the main source of a really cool
mill deck that can deck someone out in 4 turns AND
not allow them to do anything about it! Interested?
Too bad! I am keeping this one to myself.
Anyway, quickplay spells are always good and this
one is certainly not an exception to the rule
(although there are plenty). It is a solid combo
card, but what combo goes with it we have yet to
see...

Todayʼs card is Book Of Eclipse, personally one
of my favorite cards from the set! This actually
gives deck out decks a little chance to shine in
casual play. Outside of the deck out deck, there is
potential. Whatʼs that you ask? Asura Priest and Red
Dragon Archfiend. If you are backed into a corner,
play Eclipse, then bring out one of the two I
mentioned and you should be money!

Book of Eclipse is a card for flip effect monsters,
but players need to get the most out of it. This
book works with Des Koala by using it twice and
damaging them more the second time around. Needle
Worm discards 10 from the deck and makes the
opponent draw more cards for a deckout, but stall
and burn decks aren't successful in a fast format,
so Book of Eclipse is just going to be one of those
pack filler cards.

Wow, another book.
Well, this was looking good for a while there, but
then it's reversed and your opponent draws. If it
weren't for that, it would rock; slowing down games
and such. Maybe I could see this in a deck-out
deck...maybe.
