Well, we continue reviewing cards from the Duelist
Genesis, and I tried to choose some more interesting
cards that we haven't yet checked out, so we open
the week with another Tuner, Herald of Orange Light.
Herald of Orange Light is a Level 2 Tuner monster,
of the Light attribute, who is a Fairy with 300
attack and 500 defense. Now, for the effect, you can
send this card, and one other Fairy-type monster
from your Hand to the Graveyard to negate the
activation of an Effect monster your opponent
controls and destroy that monster.
Now, this is really interesting. It is kind of bad
that both Fairies you choose have to be in your
Hand...they can't be on the Field, or you can't have
this in your Hand and another on the Field, or vice
versa.
Herald of Orange Light is a -1, as you discard two
cards just to destroy one, but it's one of those -1
that can lead to you having greater advantage later,
especially since you can use this effect during
either players' turn, so you might be able to
surprise your opponent.
It might not be that useful against something like
an Exiled Force, but it could be devastating against
something like a Dark Armed Dragon or a Stardust
Dragon. If you're playing Fairies or Counter
Fairies, I'd play one, and maybe even side a second.

Herald of Orange Light
Okay...this definitely follows the other Herald
cards, but is significantly better. In addition to
being able to negate an effect monster from the hand
(although at a -1), it's also a Tuner, meaning it
has a use when it's NOT in your hand.
Most people will overlook that, as it's not a Tuner
that can be summoned via Emergency Teleport, but in
Counter-Fairy builds, it gives those players access
to the toolbox that is the Extra Deck that is mainly
reserved for other dedicated builds.
Will we see a Counter-Fairy deck use this to cement
its position in the metagame? Probably not for a
while. But it's still a good card in the right
situations.

Herald of Orange Light
This is an iffy one. It is a continuation of a
series of monsters from EOJ that had you discard it
and another Fairy monster to negate something. The
Purple one killed traps, the green one smacks spells
and this newest orange one smites monsters. Well
there are only 3 decks that can use this
effectively. Fairy Beatdown, Counter Fairies and
Lightsworn all use a fair amount of Fairies in order
to get the job done.
This can be a trick to keep a comeback, and is an
absolute beast against a Monarch or Armageddon
monster. The problem is that these aforementioned
decks would rather use said monsters in order to win
the game rather than control a monster effect that
Skill Drain does so much better and cheaper. The
plus side of this guy is that he is a monster and a
Tuner. This allows him to be more versatile than the
average negator.
Despite his versatility and rather surprising and
unblockable nature of his effect, it is not rather
practical to use. It can help in a pinch, but it
will usually only dig you into a deeper hole with no
way out, especially if you are strapped for cards. I
have found little success with it, but try it out.
In a game where monsters=win, blocking their effects
and destroying them is always a good thing.

Herald of Orange Light has two different uses. There
is the negating a monster's effect ability or the
choice to Synchro Summon a monster. Like the other
Heralds, Orange needs to be sent along with another
Fairy-Type monster to work. This could be seen in
either two decks. A type of Lightsworn that Top 16ed
a SJC that also used Quillbolt Hedgehog for more
Synchro food. If someone would have dead Celestias
in their hand, Hearld of Orange Light will help. In
a way it would be a Lightsworn's Divine Wrath.
The other deck that this could be used in is a
Counter Fairy deck. With so many Fairies it wouldn't
hurt to try it out. Once in a while when you have a
Bountiful Artemis on the field, Herald of Orange
Light can Synchro with it and summon Goyo Guardian,
but most good Counter Fairy decks usually don't have
6 star monsters for the Stardust summon. Its a nice
little surprise card, but it won't be seeing much of
the Top spots.

I seriously recommend you read it.

Herald of orange light isn't good. If it only
required one tribute, it would be an awesome piece
of tech with players never knowing they were safe
just with the existence of this card. But alas, it
sucks.

Todayʼs card up for review is Herald Of Orange
Light. This card is brilliant. Instead of setting
Divine Wrath, why not use this guy for a surprise to
your opponent. Sure, this guy would have been better
if you could discard any card, but then it would
have been busted beyond belief. What is even better
with this guy, if you do not have a fairy monster to
pitch with him, why not summon him and get some
synchro action going. It is iffy on what you are
killing. You will be using up 2 cards in your hand
to kill 1 usually, so gotta think about what your
doing. Card advantage means a lot in this game. Def.
try this card out regardless, itʼs a better Divine
Wrath for crying out loud!
