Izanagi
Welcome to what I have basically no choice but to
call Spirit Week. Spirit monsters never really took
off, other than 3 of them, ad 2 of them are banned
and Asura Pries is not really worth building a deck
around all by himself. Enter Izanagi, a sort of
Gigantes for Spirit monsters. It does get a boosted
ATK of 2200 (300 over Gigantes) and the effect that
your Spirit Monsters do not have to have to return
to the hand at the end of the turn.
This is a really great card, unfortunately, Spirit
monsters just do not have the firepwoer that is need
in order to pull a mainstream deck off. Their best
monsters (Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi and Yamata Dragon) both
need 2 tributes and they then return to your hand at
the end of the turn. However, you can use this guy
to keep them around longer. It is way better than
that one spell card that did the same thing.
Spirits just need some more solid support in order
to become competitive, like Spellcasters. All they
need is a Draw Spell and there the deck takes off.
You can use Trade-In with the 2 Level 8 monsters,
but that is rather slow and unwieldy.

Welcome people who wan't to read
my melodious writing. Today, I'm reviewing izangi.
Judging the whole spirit archtype, I imagine it
would be pretty slow. It would definitely be fun,
and might make it a ways, but the metagame is still
to fast for it. Izangi would definitely be in there
though, removing dead spirits and keeping their
presence. Even with this, it would rely on it too
much for the meta.
3.5/5 all. spirit deck.

Todayʼs card up for review is Izanagi. It is
actually in my opinion, a staple for a Spirit Deck.
Sure you lose card advantage by playing it, but it
will be worth it! That was the one drawback about
Spiritʼs, and now they have yet another card to keep
your spirits on the board. Itʼs quite obvious you
cannot use it in any other deck, and this card is
easily obtainable, so go dust off your old spirit
cards and duel!

Five years after the initial creation of
Spirit monsters, we finally get new support.
Very cool in my opinion.
It's a walking Spiritual Energy Settle Machine without the
drawback of bouncing every Spirit when it's
removed from the field. Every Spirit deck
should be playing three. Now you can play
Yamata Dragon or Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi with less
of a chance of losing field presence or even
use Izanagi's special summon ability in
order to use it as tribute bait for them.
The special summon ability also gives you
the option to overextend and push for damage
or swing for game. It doesn't really make
Spirits good but it definitely give them a
much needed boost. Great for casual, not so
great for strong competition.

Super Rare
We finally got some Spirit
monster support in Duelist Genesis. There are two
ways to summon Izanagi. Either by removing a Spirit
monster from your hand from play or by tributing one
monster. Most people will use the special summoning
condition over the tributing because you could bring
out Asura Priest and he'll stay there instead of
taking direct attacks.
Izanagi has 2200 ATK, which can
get over Wulf, Cyber Dragon, and defense mode
Gravekeeper's Spies, but he would still get hit by
the monarchs pretty hard. He can be hit by
Bottomless Trap Hole and losing 2 for one is not a
good trade for you. On the upside though, he can be
used with Herald of Orange Light to negate a
Judgment Dragon, Dark Armed Dragon, or Gladiator
Beast Gyzarus. Also you could summon Izanagi and the
Herald to Synchro Summon any of your level 8 Synchro
monsters. He can only work in a spirit deck though
and thats about it.

Sorry my posts are late this week
folks, I was having some internet and e-mail
problems, but enough about that...anyway, Izanagi
opens the week, an interesting card, and one quite
helpful for Spirit monsters.
Izanagi is a Wind monster who is
Level 6, and a Fairy with 2200 attack and 1000
defense.
Now, 2200 attack for a one tribute monster is
terrible, although you can remove a Spirit monster
from your Hand to Special Summon this card.
That's useful, but the 2200
attack still hurts this card...a lot.
Anyway, the effect is quite
useful and fun for a Spirit Deck.Spirit monsters you control don't have their
"return to Hand" effect activated.
Certainly, that is a good thing,
namely for your more powerful Spirit monsters, such
as Yamata Dragon or Hino Kagu Tsuchi. It's nice to see support for such a neglected
and ignored Decktype, but would it have killed them
to give it 2400 attack so it could compete?
