Yamato-no-Kami is another Spirit
monster, as if you hadn't guessed by the name, is a
Dark monster who is a Warrior, and Level 6 with 2200
attack and 1200 defense, who is similar to, yet
different from Monday's card.
This card cannot be Normal
Summoned or Set, and furthermore, cannot be Special
Summoned except by removing from play one Spirit
monster from your Graveyard. If this card destroys an opponent's monster
by Battle, you can destroy an opponent's Magic or
Trap card.
Again, we come down to a decent
monster, for a neglected Decktype, with a semi nice
destruction ability, who is plagued by simply being
a Spirit. If it could remain on the Field, with
Monday's card...we might have
something...wait...2200 attack...

Yamato-no-Kami
This card is very similar to Izanagi, but not quite
as good. He has the 2200 ATK and slightly higher
DEF, and the Special Summon effect. However, all he
does is destroy a spell or trap after he has
killed a monster in battle. Seeing as how that card
would just be activated due to Yamato's summon or
attack, we don't have a winning card here.
You can make some clever plays with it to lure out
Solemn Judgment, ad they would unlikely activate it
on this guy, so you basically get a free destroyed
spell or trap. He does allow you to do a Normal
Summon, which is nice, but the fact that he returns
to your hand is just not so good.
2200 ATK is also not enough to justify a deck, as
most bug monsters will get around it quite easily,
even without using there destruction effects.

In case you didn't read
yesterday's CotD, I'm yami pwii and I'm trying
to defeat pwii by writing terrible reviews so I can
take control of his body. Yamato probably means
something in japanese, because I recoginize it from
somewhere. Or not. This isn't that good for spirits
as there are better options then this.
2/5 all.

Todayʼs card up for review is Yamato-no-Kami.
More Spirit support. I am first thinking that this
will combo really nicely with Izanagi. Keeping a
big beater and a nice effect on the field is really
good. Killing a monster shouldnʼt be too much of a
problem with this, so afterwards you get to nuke a
spell/trap on your opponents field. Quite a nice
bonus eh? It is pretty hard to say where the deck
type will go now. Possibly if more support comes
out, I could say this deck has a shot at winning
some games. As of now, the deck type would just be
for casual play.

Yamato-no-kami
This card looks really awesome and woudlnt actually
be too bad in a spirit dedicated deck because of its
easy summoning condition. In a spirit deck, this
card could easily come out in multiple copies due to
the easy cost of removing a spirit monster in your
graveyard to special summon it. Playing this card
woudl be a strong way to start a turn because not
only is it a huge beater, its level 6 which means
that a spirit deck would be able to easily combine
popular level 2 tuner monsters with it (like Krebons)
to make any level eight synchro. In a competitive
deck, I dont see alot of use with this card, but it
is definitely a top pick for any spirit themed deck.
Traditional: 4/5
Advanced: 3/5 Dedicated spirit decks will definitely
find use in this card.

Even more Spirit stuff. Awesome. This is the
kind of Spirit support I like to see. Another card
that Spirit decks need to play as many as possible.
2200ATK, essentially free Special Summon and
potentially reusable S/T removal. The 2200ATK gives
you the ability to run over monsters like Gladiator
Beast Laquari, Special summon gives you the option
of swarming and the S/T removal can either force an
opponent to Solemn Judgment the summon or risk the
Solemn Judgment being destroyed.. Like I said in the
Izanagi review, it doesn't really make Spirits good
but it definitely give them a much needed boost and
is great for casual but not so great for strong
competition.

Yamato-no-Kami is one of the best cards for
a spirit deck. If you can destroy a monster
by battle, then you can destroy a Spell or
Trap card your opponent has. This would work
best with Cold Wave and Izanagi. Your
opponent wouldn't be able to chain his or
her cards and you would keep both of your
2200 attackers.
I can see two or three copies of this card
in a spirit deck, but I can't see the deck
no higher than a Hobby League tournament. It
can be fun playing casual, but there are
still no breakthrough cards to make the deck
a regional top 8ing deck.
