Nitro Warrior

Hey all, I'm back for another round of CotDs!  And I definitely picked a good week to come back for -- it's Synchro week!  Suddenly, more decks than just Gladiator Beasts can throw two monsters onto the field and create a big beatstick!

Today we're looking at Nitro Warrior, one of the Synchros that requries a specific Tuner in Nitro Synchron, which draws a card for you to make up for having to be a specific Tuner.  Having a 5-star non-Tuner helps immensely here -- this is one of the reasons Cyber Dragon has been limited, as dropping Cyber + Nitro and then Synchroing basically only costs you one card.

Onto the stats and effects:  Nitro Warrior's a 2800 ATK monster that becomes 3800 for a turn if you activated a Spell -- that's strong enough to take out anything commonly played, easily.  If your opponent has a monster in Defense Position, you can punish them further by scoring a second attack and forcing it into attack position, making an oponent's seemingly safe field turn into a direct path at 4,000 or more of their Life Points.  If you've drawn out a single Solemn Judgment from your opponent at any time beforehand, that usually means winning the Duel.

The only problem here is the odd number of level stars -- 6-star and 8-star Synchros are ridiculously easy to summon, but 7-stars, specifically one that requires a 2-star Tuner, is more difficult to successfully use.  I'd try him, but I don't see him winning an SJC anytime soon.

Welcome to the collage of goodness that is Synchro week. This week we look at the best of the best Synchro monsters from TDGS. Nitro Warrior is one of the better ones. A level 7 with 2800 ATK and 1800 DEF is pretty darn good by itself. It does have to be summoned with Nitro Synchron, which is kind of a downer, as Nitro Synchron is not that great at making the explosive plays that we are used to seeing from Synchro decks.

Now, when you play a spell card, during the damage step he gets a 1000 ATK boost. Take that Heraklinos! It is also enough to take down cards like Red Dragon Archfiend and Goyo Guardian. The attack boost is nice because it also will force through damage and in a game where Solemn Judgment is so common, 1000 extra damage can mean the difference between a kill and a comeback. The second effect is kind of like Tyrant Dragon's. If he kills something in battle, you can turn a face-up defense position monster to Attack position and attack it, gaining the 1000 boost for that attack as well.

The second effect is great for clearing out Gladiator Beast Hoplomus, Marshmallon and Spirit Reaper, all cards that Synchro decks can have trouble getting around with the normal suite of Synchro cards while forcing through extra damage while you're at it.

All in all a good Synchro monster, not great, but good.

Todayʼs card up for review is Nitro Warrior. This is prob the worst Tuner out, if not a close second haha. But unlike other synchros, you need a specific monster to brin this guy out. You would want big strikes to come any time you want with synchros, not needing more specific material than already.

If you want to use the resources, this guy isnʼt half bad. He could become really big when a spell is activated, which of course wonʼt be hard to accomplish. The monster switch is pretty nifty as well. Try this guy out if you want, but I would suggest using the way better synchro monsters that are out(like the ones up for review later this week*hint hint*)

Welcome to Synchro week! We'll start off with Nitro Warrior. He is one of those Synchro Monsters that needs a specific tuner monsters to summon this guy, but he is a level two tuner, so you'll need a level 5 monster. Instant Fusion will help out greatly by getting you a Reaper on the Nightmare or you can invclude Dark World monsters for an easy Synchro Summon. Also you get to draw a card whenever Nitro Synchron is being used for the summon, so no loss.

Each time you activate a spell card, Nitro Warrior gets a 1000 ATK boost for his next attack. Its a nice treat whenever you need to get over a Dark Armed Dragon or Judgment Dragon and be able to attack again. Whenever Nitro Warrior does destroy a monster by battle you can switch a face up defense monster on the field to attack and attack that monster. Nitro Warrior is one of those cards that needs Ojama Trio at 3. Hitting the opponent for 3100 is a big game changer, but with the condition of having a specific tuner monster, Nitro Warrior will not be seeing much play.

Monday

All right, you patiently have been waiting for a GOOD week of cards, and we finally deliver that to you.  We open the week with Nitro Warrior, a Level 7 Synchro monster with 2800 attack (great) and 1800 def (meh).  Nitro Warrior is a Warrior of the Fire attribute.

Nitro Warrior is Synchro Summoned with Nitro Synchron and one or more non-Tuner monsters.  Now, once during each of your turns, if you activate a Magic card, Nitro Warrior gains 1000 attack during its next attack during Damage Calculation.

So, you can have a temporary 3800 attack monster, which is excellent, but there are more bonuses involved here.  Once per turn, if this attacking card destroys an opponent's monster by Battle, you can change the face up Defense Position monster your opponent controls to Attack Position and attack it with this card.

In short, Nitro Warrior is awesome for you Synchro players.

Ratings:

Traditional:  2.75/5  Potentially powerful enough to take out either Envoy.

Advanced:        4/5   Great for the Synchro player.

We start the week with Nitro Synchron. Not great but not terrible either. Requiring Nitro Synchron hurts playability though but effect and stats are top notch. 2800 base ATK runs over Monarchs, Prime Material Dragon, and Gladiator Beast Gyzarus. If you use the effect it will run over Dark Armed Dragon, Judgment Dragon, Gladiator Beast Heraklinos and anything else standing in your way except a Spirit Reaper or other such monster.
