When this card is
Special Summoned by the effect of a "Gladiator
Beast" monster, you can select 1 "Gladiator Beast"
monster from your Graveyard and Special Summon it.
That monster's effect(s) is negated, and it is
returned to your Deck when this card is removed from
the field. At the end of the Battle Phase, if this
card attacked or was attacked, you can return it to
the Deck to Special Summon 1 "Gladiator Beast"
monster from your Deck, except "Gladiator Beast
Darius".

Gladiator Beast Darius, a Level 4 Earth monster, of
the Beast-Warrior type, with 1700 attack, which is
respectable, and a miserably detestable 300 defense.
Now, when Darius is Special Summoned by the effect
of another Gladiator Beast, you can Special Summon a
Gladiator Beast from your Graveyard, which is great.
Now, as for the chosen Gladiator Beast you Special
Summoned, it's effect is negated, and it is returned
to your Deck (which is a bonus) when Darius is
removed from the Field. Also, as per normal, when
Darius attacked or is attacked during a Battle
Phase, return it to the Deck to Special Summon
another Gladiator Beast aside from Darius from your
Deck.
The obviously unique and helpful ability is the
Graveyard retrieval, which opens the doors for your
Gladiator Beast player to be able to pull off bigger
moves and odds are, you won't have either of these
monsters on the Field at the end of the turn, or you
will have won.
Darius makes a quick and powerful Deck even quicker
and more powerful.

Gladiator Beast Darius
It is really hard to review a Gladiator Beast
monster. Not because of what they are, but because
they are so cohesive of a unit that they really
cannot be compared separately like, say, a Blackwing
card.
Anyway, Darius is hefty as a 1700 ATK Beast-Warrior
of the level 4 EARTH variety. When he is Special
Summoned by the effect of a Gladiator Beast
monster's effect, then you can Special Summon a
Gladiator Beast monster from your graveyard.
Traditionally, this was used with Prisma, Test Tiger
and Bestiari to bring out Gyzarus easily. Now it is
still used that way, but it has become more
versatile. Octavius, Andal and Laquari are all good
targets for his effect if you want the beatdown.
All in all he is a MUST for Gladiator decks, and
maybe even worthy of being run at 2 this format in
order to give the Gladiators even more flexibility
than they already have when dealing with other
decks.

Today’s card up for
review is Gladiator Beast Darius. This guy is going
to be a big part of the Gladiator Beast deck come
next format. The Gb deck will most likely be Prisma
beased, so this guy is gonna be a big piece of the
deck. Even if you don’t want to run the Prisma
version, Darius is still a staple in the deck. Being
able to rescue a fallen Gladiator is too good to
pass up, and grabbing Bestiari off of it is a
crippling move, and Gyzarus will clear the board.
Simply put, if you are running Gladiators, and you
aren’t using this, you will get smacked by me. Just
kidding but yeah, he is good

Gladiator Beast Darius
...
I'm gonna be a bit biased again, but on the flip
side of the coin this time. I personally have never
found the Gladiator Beast deck to be all THAT
fearsome. I'm not saying its not good, I'm just
saying that I've dueled against a lot of other decks
that gave me much more problems that this. So its
possible that i've never seen how TRULY awesome it
can be? Maybe I just never faced a great GB player
... Either way, that being said, I do know
Gladiators ARE good, and I know a lot of it is due
to this guy. It's not his stats (which are
satisfactory for his level), but his ability to
bring another Gladiator Beast to the field with him
from the grave that makes darius so special. It sets
up the Gladiator Beast "fusions" or in the very
least recycles any lost Gladiator Beast back to the
deck. The GB team are full of lots of tricks that
give them extreme versatility. That's why they are
good and Darius is one of the franchise players.

September 1st, know
what that means? New ban list is now in effect
people. All of your Crush Card Viruses, Dark Strike
Fighters, and various other cards you love have
officially been hit. But that isn't what our reviews
are about, now are they? Today we look at a card
from the famous Gladiator Beast deck, Gladiator
Beast Darius. When Gladiator Beasts first
incorperated Elemental Hero Prisma, Darius was
partially the main way Gladiator players got out
Heraklinos. Gyzarus only made things easier, and now
that Rescue Cat and Summoner Monk have gone to 1, I
personally get the feeling that Gladiator Beast
decks may go back to a similar play style as they
originally did when they had dominated multiple
Shonen Jumps, Nationals and if memory serves,
Worlds. Darius brings a lot to the table when it
comes to playing Gladiator Beasts, being able to
provide 2 Gladiator Beast monsters for possible
Heraklinos or Gyzarus. Some flaws to this, even
though they are rather easy to fix, are the fact
that it has 1700 attack and a low defense of 300.
1700 is rather easy to get over with cards like
Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer, Elemental Hero Stratos
and just about any synchro monster. There are also
many cards like Book of Moon and Enemy Controller
which make it a sitting duck. Darius is a great card
when it comes to tagging out for Gyzarus or
Heraklinos, but thats its sole purpose for Gladiator
Beast decks, you dont want to keep it out long to be
honest.
