Blackwing Silverwind the Ascendant
#SOVR-EN041 1 "Blackwing" Tuner Monster + 2 or more non-Tuner monsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned, you can select and destroy up to 2 face-up monsters on the field with DEF lower than this card's ATK. You cannot conduct your Battle Phase the turn you activate this effect. The next time a "Blackwing" monster you control would be destroyed by battle during your opponent's turn, it is not destroyed; this effect only happens once.

Blackwing - Silverwind the Ascendant …
I dunno. I love Blackwings, but I don’t love this
card. Strongest ATK for a Blackwing monster to date,
Synchro or otherwise … But does that make him worth
playing?
For starters, not only do u require a Blackwing
tuner (no big deal), but u need at least TWO other
monsters to Synchro for this guy. That’s not good.
I’ve seen Vayu shortcut this guy to field, which is
nice … But then he loses his special effect. I guess
if u need strength in a hurry, then it’s not a HUGE
loss. But if u WANTED his effect, then its not like
a super GREAT one either. Popping 2 opponent
monsters is nice, but not being able to attack
afterwards? …
Meh. It’s not a bad card. But not super awesome
either. Blackwings are pretty badass without him.
Armor Master is still the better overall Synchro.

Blackwing - Silverwind the Ascendant:
Blackwings get a level 8 synchro... as if they
needed it. But all hating aside, this card is
a great card for blackwing decks. It's not the
easiest synchro for them, but vayu makes it easier:
Vayu + Armor Master from the graveyard yields you a
2800 atk beater, yet minus the double destruction
effect. 2 Kaluts + Blizzard/Mistral or Kalut +
Shura + Vayu (brought out by Shura) from the
field gets you the above mentioned 2800 atk plus the
option to destroy 2 face up monsters with less than
2800 def (which will be everything most
likely) while skipping your battle phase for the
turn. There are other ways to synchro from
field, but in dedicated blackwing decks, I see
these being the most likely scenario. The
second effect of Silverwind is decent, especially if
you use his first effect. Skipping a battle
phase for a turn can set you back, so its nice to
have added protection through your opponent's next
turn. Vayu specific (turbo) decks really
benefit the most from this card though as it adds
even more power for their late game and more options
after a Burial from a Different Dimension play.

Blackwing-Silverwind the Ascendant, is the best
looking Blackwing ever...We have a Level 8, Dark
attributed, Winged-Beast Synchro monster, who has
2800 attack and 2000 defense...Synchro Summoned by
one Blackwing Tuner and two or more non-Tuner
monsters.
Now, first, when Synchro Summoned you can select
and destroy two face-up monsters on the Field with
Defense lower than this cards attack. For those of
you who couldn't follow, monsters whose defense is
less than 2800. This is beyond kick ass, since most
monsters that are more powerful than this card have
less than 2800 defense, so this is a great answer
for the Blackwing player when something more
powerful is all ready on the Field.
You can't activate your Battle Phase in the turn
you activate that effect, but by crippling your
opponent, you might not need to. For even more
protection, the next time a Blackwing monster would
be destroyed by Battle, it is not destroyed. Added
protection is great, but it's not quite as great as
it seems.
The effect only happens once, but we aren't
counting that as negative.
Your opponent could purposely attack something weak,
and not destroy it, just so they could move in to
destroy something else. Not a big downside though
reall, this is one hell of a card.

Blackwing - Silverwind the Ascendant, quite an
iffy card. It requires at least 2 non-Tuner monsters
and its a level 8. When its Synchro Summoned you can
destroy up to 2 monsters with defense lower than
Ascendants attack, but you cannot attack that turn.
This is an alright effect, considering you -3
monsters to get it out. Also the next time a
Blackwing monster would be destroyed in battle its
not, but you only get the effect just once. Honestly
this card is an ok card for last minute if you can
get it out, but I wouldn't use it personally cause I
think there would be better choices for your extra
deck.

Blackwing-Silverwind the Ascendant
Hello all and welcome to another week of reviews
at POJO. I apologize for not reviewing last week, as
with my eviction and my mother getting engaged,
there was a lot going on. Now, enough about me, what
about Silverwind? First off we have a level 8
Synchro with 2800 ATK and 2000 DEF and is of the
DARK Winged-Beast persuasion. It does need a
Blackwing Tuner and two other non-tuner monsters so
it is pretty hard to bring out Normally except for
Kalut + Kalut + Bora.
The effects are pretty neat actually. When he
comes out you get to smash two guys that have lower
DEF than his ATK, but you lose your Battle Phase for
that turn. Not so bad, Gyzarus is better but this is
one of two level 8 Synchros that can kill stuff with
effects, and since the other one is an SJC promo, I
would say that this guy is gonna see some table
time.
The second effect is useful, but not enough to be
amazed with. The next time (once only) that a
Blackwing monster you control would be destroyed by
Battle, it is not. Kind of like a one-use Armor
Master effect. This helps with cards like Gale that
would otherwise get destroyed but are very useful to
have on the field.
The way to bring this guy out is with Vayu.
Generally you do not have the resources to bring him
out very easily, so he is more of a one-of for when
Vayu has an Armor Master in the graveyard. You can
base a deck on bringing him out. You can use Sirocco
+ Fane + Mistral to bring him out, but that would
require several Blackwings that generally do not
make the cut in the deck. He is a one of in every
Blackwing deck or maybe even a deck just splashing
Gale, as those decks can really make some odd
Synchros.
If you have it, play it. If not, I wouldn't think
of it as a high priority. Armor Master is usually
just better, so I would save up for him or Brionac,
as they are infinitely more useful in more
situations than Silverwind.
