Explosive Magician, a Level 6, Light attributed
Spellcaster monster with 2500 attack and 1800
defense...Synchro Summoned with one Tuner and one or
more non-Tuner type monsters...first off, 2500
attack on a Level
6 Synchro is excellent
You can remove two Magic Counters from your side
of the Field to select and destroy one Magic or Trap
card your opponent controls. Usually you want to use
your Magic counters for other things...nuke the
Field, destroy monsters, Special Summon monsters,
and the fact you need two to destroy one card isn't
the best thing in the world...
If you're playing Spellcasters, competitively or
casually, give him a shot, the effect is actually
easy enough to pull off, and still respect his 2500
attack for his level.

Explosive Magician
This is one of the worst Synchros in the entire
set of SOVR. Not that it is really even that bad,
but everything else outshines it (except for Hydra).
To start off we have a level 6 LIGHT Spellcaster
with 2500 ATK and 1800 DEF. These are solid stats,
and it doesn't really get destroyed by anything
short of Goyo and Colossal in Battle, so it is good
there. However, it does need a Spellcaster
Non-Tuner. This is actually not that bad of a
workaround as Magical Exemplar plus Foolish Burial
gets you these levels easy with that level 2
Spellcaster in the graveyard.
The effect is simple. You remove 2 Spell Counters
from your side of the field to blast a Spell or Trap
an opponent controls. That is actually pretty good,
as it is a +1 in card advantage, which is always
welcome in this game. The problem i sthat those
spell counters were likely doing things a bit more
important, such as powering up Arcanite Magician or
getting Magical Exemplar's effect off.
All in all Tempest Magician is far superior to
anything that this guy can do. And Breaker the
Magical Warrior is at 3 and does the same thing for
a Spell Counter less and for a Normal Summon. Not to
mention the stuff that you would most likely want to
kill (Skill Drain, Royal Oppression and DImensional
Fissure) work better with Breaker than with
Explosive. With Tempest Magician coming out as a
promo, there is no reason to run this guy over her.

Explosive Magician …
Uhm … no. As a 6 Star Synchro - his 2500 ATK is
pretty good, and that’s about all you would play him
for. His effect? – remove 2 spell counters from your
side of the field to destroy a spell or trap? …
yeah. Crap. He doesn’t even generate his OWN
counters, so u already have to have some on the
field in order to get his effect going. And 2
counters only yields u 1 spell or trap. Doesn’t even
let u pop something of your choice, like a monster
instead … I’d rather be playing a Breaker who
provides his own counter and can be summoned right
away without a waste of Synchro. I suppose if u were
doing the Endymion thing were u would hopefully have
a train load of counters, then I could see why u
would play this … I still wouldn’t endorse it, as
Breaker would do more wonders in THAT arena as well.
Like I said – the only thing he has going for him
is that 2500 ATK for a 6 Star Synchro. U only get 1
Goyo Guardian, so in terms of sheer battle strength,
this may be the next way to in terms of a Synchro
for that price … However, u still always have the
BETTER bet of Iron Chain Dragon, with a superior
effect, and which is just as strong for a 6 Star
Synchro, yet DOESN’T require any specific type of
monster in order to create (Explosive Magician
requires Spellcaster type non tuner monsters).
Yeah. Explosive Magician is junk. Don’t waste
your extra deck space.

Explosive Magician, personally a favorite of mine
from Stardust Overdrive. Requires at least 1
non-Tuner spellcaster monster, which isn't a problem
really with Gravekeeper's Spy and Breaker the
Magical Warrior. Solid 2500 attack and 1800 defense
which allows it to stand up to a lot of threats.
Also if you are using it in a deck based on Spell
Counters, you can remove 2 Spell Counters from your
side of the field to destroy a spell or trap card.
With cards like Magical Citadel of Endymion and
Pitch-Black Power Stone, doing so isn't really a
hard thing to pull off. I think using at least 1 of
this card is a must for any deck that uses a
Spellcaster like Gravekeeper's Spy or Breaker the
Magical Warrior, only because its a solid beater and
isn't really hard to summon.

Explosive Magician:
I'm sure spellcaster fans welcomed this card with
open arms. A level 6 spellcaster synchro with
2500 atk is very nice. Why? Well because
it's incredibly easy for spellcasters to pump out
level 6 synchros. Apprentice Magician can
bring out either spellcaster level 2 tuner (Night's
End Sorcerer or Frequency Magician), along with
foolish burial, getting them into the grave quickly
is a cinch. Then Magical Exemplar lets you
reuse them by using a spell (giving her 2
counters) while she is face up on the field.
Bring back the level 2 tuner, tune with exemplar,
boom, you have your level 6 synchro. Of course
there are better level 6 options (Goyo, Brionic) but
if you are running a spellcounter heavy deck, he
works nicely. He is also light so he helps out
Chaos Sorcerer if that counts for anything.
