Well, we are again kicking off the new year with our
Top 10 Card Countdown, this time, obviously of 2008,
and we start with #10, as we do a two week countdown
all the way to #1.
#10--Black Rose Dragon
Black Rose Dragon is one hell of an enormous Dragon
Synchro monster.
Black Rose Dragon is a Level 7 Synchro monster,
Synchro Summoned by 1 Tuner and one or more
Non-Tuner monster.
Black Rose Dragon has 2400 attack, (and 1800
defense) low for a Level 7, (but matches another
Dragon...Red Eyes perhaps?) and with an effect
slightly similar to Sacred Phoenix, with the same
attack.
However, Black Rose Dragon can destroy all cards on
the Field when Synchro Summoned. Some people are
saying this card is as good as Dark Armed
Dragon...some say better. For me, while more raw
destructive power is here, I prefer Dark Armed
Dragon.
Don't get me wrong, something that clears the Field
like this IS awesome. Black Rose Dragon also has
nice Plant-support by being able to change an
opponent's monster to attack position and lower its
attack to zero by removing a Plant from your
Graveyard.
Now, I like Dark Armed Dragon better than this card,
still, because it is stronger, arguably easier to
summon, and can destroy things, while slower, yet
more reliably. Black Rose Dragon is still an awesome
card...the name, the gorgeous picture...I just think
we have better Synchros.

still prefer some other Synchros, Tele-DAD, etc.

Welcome to the Pojo Best of 2008 Week! Here we will
count down the best cards released in 08 with
detailed reviews on what makes them so good. A lot
of them have not been reviewed, or at least in a
while, so it should be a pretty interesting week.
Black Rose Dragon is number 10.
You know it is a good year when a card that can
clear the field upon it's summon is the last on the
list. Black Rose Dragon is a 2400 ATK, Level 7, FIRE
Dragon. That is pretty good right there as 7 is the
next easiest Synchro to make after 6 and 8. 2400 ATK
is actually a little underpowered for a level 7, but
she can hold her own in battle and actually deal
some damage if you need her to.
Now on to her effects. The first is that when she is
synchro summoned, you nuker everything on the field.
And I mean EVERYTHING. Monsters, spells, traps
doesn't matter. This is the effect that has garnered
her so much fame as the zombie decks in Japan use
her to clear the field of everything and then use
Mezuki, Zombie Master and Plaguespreader Zombie to
swarm the field and win in one fell swoop.
Her first effect has merit in other decks as well.
Since she is rather easy to summon with a level 3 or
4 Tuner and another monster, she can make a comeback
come out of your butt. This was a strategy that took
one of the recent SJC Champions to the top, as an
opponent could not overextend without fear of
punishment from Black Rose. And without
overextension, the Tele-DAD cannot win.
Her second effect is meh. You can remove a Plant in
your graveyard in order to shift the Battle Position
of one of your opponent's monsters. This kind of
makes up for the fact that Black Rose is so weak so
that you can shift an opponent's monster to their
weakest position. Unfortunately, you often do not
want Plants removed as they can revive from the
graveyard so easily so this will often be an ignored
effect. But if you have a spare Mystic Tomato in teh
graveyard, she can really turn a game aroun through
battle.

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned, you can destroy
all cards on the field. Once per turn, you can
remove from play 1 Plant-Type monster from your
Graveyard to change 1 monster your opponent controls
to face-up Attack Position, and reduce its ATK to 0
until the End Phase.

The third dragon of the new series that also has an
awesome effect. Black Rose Dragon has 7 stars which
works with Dark World and some level 2 tuners. When
this mighty dragon is summoned, you can destroy
every card on the field like a Judgment Dragon, but
Black Rose will go also. As long as you are using
less cards than your opponent, when Black Rose
explodes, it will be worth it.
Its second effect is for plant deck users. Remove a
plant monster from the grave and basically have
Black Rose Dragon attack it for 2400 damage. It is
also great against bigger monster like Goyo Guardian
and Stardust Dragon. Reduce the attack of it and
make sure it stays gone. Black Rose Dragon is one of
the best answers to any monster no matter what
position it is in. I believe that everyone will have
a new favorite dragon to summon in future
tournaments.

10: Black Rose Dragon
Today’s card up for review is Black Rose Dragon.
People were hyping this card upon release, and for
good reason. Black Rose is busted beyond belief.
Whenever you are down in a game, or simply need to
clear the board to go for the win, here is your
answer. He is rather easy to bring out. Go Stratos
search, chain Teleport for Commander and there ya
go. So many other ways to bring this beast out. He
is a must in the synchro deck, and will win you
games guaranteed.
