Well, it's a new week, and I picked some interesting
oddities for the week, so let's start with Immortal
Ruler, a Level 4 Zombie-type monster of the Earth
attribute with a respectable 1800 attack and a
miserable 200 defense.
Now, the big downside to Immortal Ruler is that he
cannot be Special Summoned, which seems to make him
very mortal, and Zombies seem to have a pretty easy
time of Special Summoning themselves, but not this
guy.
For a second effect, you can choose to tribute
Immortal Ruler to add one Zombie World from your
Graveyard to your Hand. Not bad, especially if
you're playing Zombie World, which you may or may
not be if you're using Zombies. Too bad it can't
fetch it from the Deck.

Immortal Ruler ...
This is one of those ... funny cards, that seems to
be "specific" enough about what it can or cannot do,
that it makes u think that u might be missing
something with it, and it could potentially be
awesome ...
Well, Uncle Freeza is here to tell u that u can
settle down, relax, and quit wracking your brain on
this guy. Immortal Ruler sucks. 1800 ATK earth
zombie ... even a non-effect monster would be
BETTER, as it could at least be special summoned and
help with a swarm at some point. His effect? -
tribute him to add a Field spell that nobody even
plays from your graveyard to your hand ... Not even
from your DECK to your hand, which u could get some
use out of. WTF??! There are countless other ways to
get cards back from your grave to your hand, and
ways that dont require u blowing your only normal
summon this turn to do so.
He IS kinda cool looking, but he gets no points for
that.

Well to explain my
absense, my computer crashed and couldn't get back
on till the 8th or so, I have my new computer now
though and am ready to continue with the COTDs.
We start this week off with Immortal Ruler, a solid
1800 attack beater that is searchable via Goblin
Zombie and you can tribute it to add a Zombie World
from your Graveyard to your hand. This becomes
useful when your opponent ends up destroying it when
you need it. The major flaw to this card is that it
cant be Special Summoned, if it could be Special
Summoned the card would probably be better since
then you'd be able to grab it with Pyramid Turtle.
If you are going to use this card in your Zombie
deck, I would only use one. Zombie Masters are
already good enough 1800 beaters so you dont need
Immortal Ruler in multiples.

Emporer Sem is an
interesting card but I don't think It will every cut
it in our meta or any other meta in the future. Back
then when tribute summoning was abundant I still
don't think this card would see play but who knows
maybe I'm not looking for the right way to abuse
this card. Needless to say this card sin't going to
make it.

Immortal Ruler….
Zombies finally get their own field searcher. But
compared to Captain Gold and Gravekeeper’s
Commandant, they really got the short end of the
stick. The main differences include Ruler’s ability
is to get a field spell back from the grave, not the
deck. And that it cannot be special summoned. The
fetching back from grave part is fine, as it only
gives the deck more options, however it is its
inability to be special summoned that really hurts
this card.
A heavy part of zombie-deck strategy relies of
special summoning, and sometimes you need that one
target in the grave to activate Zombie Master’s
effect, or you need a monster when you have Book of
Life. Immortal Ruler does not help in situations as
such. On its own, its 1800 attack is solid, but
given the monster used in zombies, I would much
rather max out on 3 Zombie Masters if not doing so
already.
If you’re going to use Zombie World, just use 3
Terraforming. There is no point in wasting a summon
just so you can get a field spell.
This card cannot be Special Summoned. You can
tribute this card to add one "Zombie World" from
your Graveyard to your Hand.
Today’s card up for review is Immortal Ruler.
Right off the bat, I like to see that another Zombie
support card was made. It can fetch you your power
card, but there are drawbacks. Instead of having a
simple effect like pitching Immortal from your hand,
you have to waste your summon in most cases. He is
still a decent card, but the main thing that you
have to keep in mind is that Zombie’s cannot compete
in the format that we are in, plus the banlist
really beat the deck type up. This card will fall
under the potential category, but only when the game
has less cheapness, and Zombies get some of their
power back
