Mirror of Oaths is quite a useful trap, and one that
I've been toying with as of late. You can only
activate this card when your opponent Special
Summons a Monster or Monsters from thier Deck. You
destroy the
monster(s) and Draw one card.
I really like this, and it's a common, so it could
certainly be something to really shock your
opponent. Sadly, I'm willing to bet not many of you
have room in your ultra-conservative Decks to try
something new. Cheerio

Mirror of Oaths
This is the biggest tech card from RGBT, and should
bein almost every side deck. We have a Normal Trap
card, which is good for playability factor, as
Counter Traps are notoriously hard to activate. The
effect is that when an opponent Special SUmmons a
monster(s) from the deck you can destroy them and
draw 1 card.
This will see most immediate use against Gladiator
decks, as their entire strategy is based around
Special Summoning from the deck. It can also be used
as tech against Gravekeeper's Spy, Rescue Cat,
Recruiters, Emergency Teleport, Summoner Monk and
other high profile tournament playable cards.
Basically this card nerfs the search engine for the
game, which is no small task. The fact that it
destroys all monster Special Summoned that is
golden. Thunderking can only stop one, and Royal
Oppression is costly and far more vulnerable to
destruction. This card not only kills off opposing
strategies, it allows you to draw a card as well.
In a deck that is all about countering the meta,
like a Skill Drain deck, I would main deck these
cards, just because every deck except for Lightsworn
Special Summons from the deck. In other top decks, I
would only tech a copy or side a pair for Gladiators
as it would only slow your deck down in a mirror or
against another fast deck.
Traditional-1/5 (Who Special Summons from the deck
here?)
Advanced-5/5 (great tech and very frustrating to
play against)

Today’s card up for review is Mirror Of Oaths.
This card is very healthy for the game, as well as
very strong. It was used in basically everybody’s
deck at United States Nationals, and for good
reason. Rescue Cat is a HUGE card right now, and is
staple in two decks right now(Cat Turbo and
Gladiator Beasts). This card alone, can help you
stop them in their tracks. Another card that is huge
right now is Summoner Monk, and that get’s smacked
by this as well, and you get advantage off of that
play. I don’t see why you wouldn’t want to use this
card right now, it is sick.

Mirror of Oaths ...
First of all let me do a quick rant about side decks
... I generally hate the concept! Its operates under
the idea that if your opponent has a deck that yours
is at a natural disadvantage against, then 2 or 3
cards that u have in the side and can mix in, will
now turn the tide in your favor ... Yeah, the very
notion is crap. How often do u have 2 or 3 copies of
a card in your main deck that (for whatever reason)
u never seem to draw at the right time, even if u
are sticking to the bare minimum 40? And THAT'S when
your deck (ideally) is already built to have all the
cards support each other ... So now tearing out the
balance and adding 2 or 3 other cards from your side
is supposed to make all the difference? If those
cards really fit in your deck, then they would
already BE main decked. In most cases your "new"
deck will work even worse than it did the 1st time.
Not that the side deck is useless .... More that it
should be used for a complete style change ... a
deck refitting. You build your damn deck to be the
best it can be vs. any given scenario. No deck is
perfect, so u outfit the 15 cards in your side to
rearrange the primary play style of your deck into a
style that compensates for its weaknesses. Not with
2 or 3 cards. But your ENTIRE side. Know your deck.
Know what it can do. Know what it can't do and
against what decks and play styles it has a hard tim
e against. And side 15 cards to completely transform
your deck if the situation calls for it.
Ok, that being said .... Mirror of Oaths should be
side decked. Gladiator Beasts and Blackwings love
special summoning from the deck. Other decks do it
occasionally in their own fashion, but u can't main
deck this thing, waiting around for that to happen.

Its Wednesday, and
we're halfway through the week. Mirror of Oaths is
todays Card of the Day and this card was apparently
something quite a few people teched at the US Yugioh
National Championships this year. At first glance
you may think, why would I use this card? There has
to be better options. Well considering how top decks
like Rescue Synchro and Gladiator Beasts summon from
the deck left and right, Mirror of Oaths can destroy
the monsters summon by Rescue Cat, it can destroy a
special summoned Krebons, Psychic Commander,
Gravekeeper's Spy and obviously any Gladiator Beast
monster aside from Gladiator Beast Heraklinos. If
you haven't seen it by now, Mirror of Oaths can
really hurt anyone playing Gladiator Beasts or
Rescue Synchro, or if by the off chance you play it,
a recruiter deck(aka RatBox, etc).
Personally I think its the perfect side tech for any
deck. I know I want to get a set for my side.

Mirror of Oaths….
Undoubtedly one of the hottest side deck cards out
there right now. Its ability to shutdown SynCat and
Gladiator Beast is tremendous. As if the Royal
Oppression-like effect was not enough, not only is
the cost non-existent, you actually get to draw a
card! Theoretically speaking, while you are not
losing any cards, your opponent will likely end up
losing 1-2 cards depending on what you use it on.
Against SynCat, your targets include Gravekeeper’s
Spy, Summoner Monk, Rescue Cat. You take away Monk
and Cat, you take away their ability to win. This is
a card that can win you games against SynCat, as
given the build they have, you take away that one
momentum card, their follow-up is likely minimal.
Against Gladiator Beast, you stop any of their
tag-outs. Now of course you do not use this on the
first tag out you see, there is no point in wanting
to stop a Laquari.
An awesome card that everyone should be running in
their side deck. Its ability to completely change
the outlook of the game is unquestionable.
