Tree Otter, another adorably cute monster, who is
also a Beast of Level
2 and the Water attribute, which is appropriate I
guess being an Otter with 1200 attack and a mere 100
defense. Now, here, you can have one face-up monster
you control gain 1000 attack until the End Phase.
1000 attack is a very nice increase, if only for a
turn, and you can use the effect more than once, but
low and behold, we have a couple of
problems...first, you can only use the effect if you
have another face-up Beast type monster, and this
card will die easily with its low attack and
defense.

This is the inverse monster to Sea Koala (get it?)
and it is not quite as good as many other targets
for Rescue Cat out there. He has 1200 ATK which is
actually pretty good, and he can give a Beast
monster 1000 ATK once per turn, which is nice to be
able to get Airbellum to take out some Synchro
monsters.
However, there are four better choices out there.
Sea Koala reduces an opponent's monster to 0 and is
not a level 3, but has far less in terms of stats.
Des Koala is DARK, allowing you to have more DARK
monsters for your effects as well as being an 1800
wall and a burn card when you draw it outside of the
Kitty effect. Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter is the best
flip an dkill monster in teh game and is currently
the favorite for this slot, allowing you to kill
things as well as access to level 8 Synchros through
a double Synchro Summon. Neo Spacien Dark Panther is
by far the best, able to copy such powerhouses like
Judgment Dragon, Dark Armed Dragon, Chaos Sorceror
and Spirit Reaper to maximum effect.
Basically this little guy is good, but he has a lot
of competition for the slot in Synchro Cat that is
being taken up by these monsters.

Today’s card up for
review is Tree Otter. To be honest, I don’t
understand why this card was made for. The art is
broken, but they gave him a watered down Sea Koala
effect, at least to me. Id rather make a monsters
attack 0, then have one of my monsters gaining 1000.
The only difference is, do you want a 1200 attack
monster(Otter) or Koala? Koala is far superior, he
can make your guys get over anything, where Otter
has a chance to get over some stuff, and will be
stopped short or some monsters used in the meta.

Tree Otter ...
Another little beast from Raging Battle ... what a
great booster it was, right?
Tree Otter has a reasonable enough 1200 ATK,
considering his level. A water attribute? Cute,
though it neither helps nor hurts him really.
Considering that he's a beast that's 3 stars or less
... Yes, he fits in perfectly with the Rescue Cat
club. Rescue Cat grabs 2 of these to an open field,
they pump each other up to 2200, and u hit for 4400
direct. Not too shabby. But the main problem is that
that's about the ONLY thing you'll truly enjoy doing
with them. There are just too many other beast
options that complete the Rescue Cat's front line,
that the Tree Otter isn't necessary or awesome
enough to warrant a spot on the team. Unless of
course u are gunning for a bit of originality, then
maybe give him a shot ... or if u are doing
something with water as your secondary theme ...
Basically, he does what he does well ... It's just
that nobody is really asking him to do it that
often.

Its Wednesday and Tree
Otter is todays Card of the Day. Another search able
card via Rescue Cat and the opposite to Sea Koala.
Instead of having a high defense over a low attack,
Otter has a high attack over a low defense and once
a turn if you control a face-up Beast-Type monster,
you can increase the ATK of one of your monsters by
1000. I guess the card can be almost as useful as
Sea Koala, but Sea Koala just seems to do more
damage to the opponent than Otter does. There really
isn't much to say on Otter, its an ok card but Sea
Koala does the opposite and does it better.

Tree Otter…. One of
the potential cards being used as Rescue Cat’s
target in a lot of SynCat decks right now. Basically
unless your Airbellum gets Bottomless’d, with Tree
Otter you’re likely going to be able to attack over
most monsters your opponent would have.
However, Tree Otter is being looked at as a weak
counter-part to Sea Koala. The only upside that
Otter has is its base-1200 attack. You would be able
to do more damage if you run Otter. But Koala brings
the guarantee of the destruction of your opponent’s
monster if the attack goes through.
Because Tree Otter does not necessarily mean that
you can attack over any monster on the field, it
takes a back seat to Sea Koala. Don’t expect to see
too many of these.
