X-Saber Galahad, a very odd looking monster, closes
out the week. He is a Level 4 monster, of the Earth
attribute, and a Warrior with a reasonably nice 1800
attack, and a rather low 800 defense.
Now, on the plus side, when attacking, he gains 300
attack during the Damage Step, which makes him have
2100 attack, which is great. On the negative side,
he loses 500 attack during the Damage Step when
attacked, so that's horrible, as he falls to 1300
attack.
You can tribute another Saber monster to negate the
attack if this card is selected as an attack target,
but why would you keep something on the Field that
requires you to sacrifice other monsters just to
protect himself?

X-Saber Galahad
This guy is the only other decent X-Saber monster
that we have. He has 1800 ATK and 800 DEF on a level
4 EARTH Warrior. This si good as Reinforcements of
the Army can search him out and he can actually hold
his own in a battle, which could be what an X-Saber
deck needs to be competitive.
His effect is that he gains 300 ATK when it attacks
an opponents monster and loses 500 ATK when
attacked. You can also tribute a "Saber" monster in
order to negate an attack on him. I cannot see where
the second effect would be overly useful, except to
get a XX-Saber monster to the field easier or if you
really cannot take another hit. Interestingly, you
can also tribut non-X-Saber monsters like Saber
Beetle if you need to.
The first effect is mediocre at best. the boost
allows him to take down monsters much bigger than he
is like Cyber Dragon. The decreas makes him
exceedingly easy to kill, which actually can be good
if you need the X-Saber in the graveyard. As he is
the only other decent X-Saber that we have to fill
deck slots, he would be an auto in in an X-Saber
deck that will become blisteringly broken with the
release of he next set.

Today’s card up for
review is X-Saber Galahad. The X-saber deck is very
appealing to me thus far, considering there’s only a
handful of them out so far. This guy is a 2100
beater when it attacks a monster, so that will come
in handy, though he goes to 1300 when attacked,
which is a letdown. His last effect of a mini Necro
Gardna is pretty cool, so the attack decrease may
not always come into play. Not much else to say
about the card outside of that. It’s hard to say how
great the X-Saber deck will actually be. Their trap
card, Gatmuz's Urgent Orders is busted beyond
belief, and that alone will have you trying to build
the deck. The question being, will there be more
decent support for it and help it become a top tier
deck? Time will tell

X-Saber Galahad ...
Well we're not so good as YESTERDAY'S card, are we
now? ... ARE we, Galahad?!?!?
No, we are not. Can't say I like this card at all
really. Warrior - check. Earth type - check. 1800
ATK - check. But so what, really? His effect?
Increase his ATK during damage step when he attacks,
decrease when he gets attacked. Whatevz. We've seen
it before, and seen it done better. Remember
Steamroid? - Same base ATK as Galahad, but Steamroid
at least got a 500 ATK boost when he attacked,
putting him at 2300, as opposed to Galahad only
going to 2100. Plus Steamroid had a far better 1800
DEF, should the need arise.
Galahad DOES have the 2nd effect that affords him
some protection. I dont know enough about the future
X-Saber monsters that him ditching one of them would
set up for some good future plays ... but for what
is available now? - It's crap. Chances are HE'S the
one u would want to ditch in order to protect a
different monster on the field. Buuuuuttt ... he
doesn't work that way.
Meh. Not the worst thing ever, but seriously - he's
rather lame.

Its Friday peeps, and
X-Saber Galahad is todays COTD, Unlike Airbellum,
Galahad is a monster we've seen already in 2 forms.
The first being Steamroid and second being Black
Veloci, and its somewhat like Jain, Lightsworn
Paladin, only thing difference is Galahad only gains
300 attack, their defense points and the fact that
when Galahad is selected as an attack target you can
tribute another "Saber" monster to negate the
attack. Until Ancient Prophecy comes out, we are
limited on the number of "Saber" monsters there are,
this also adds a limitation on how good Galahad
could be. Galahad is a cool monster alright, but
until theres some more support for "Saber" monsters,
and until Ancient Prophecy comes out, Galahad will
just have to wait till it sees a chance to show its
stuff.
The new X-Saber theme is arriving in Ancient
Prophecy. I haven't seen the new cards yet, but I
would assume there are far better X-Sabers to run
than this one. His effect is terrible.
So for now, Galahad gets a low score. I may revise
this later if the other X-Sabers are terrible.
