Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu, another Earthbound
monster we take a look at, and this one is quite the
better monster compared to the one we looked at last
week. Here we have a Level 10, Dark attributed,
Fiend type monster with 3000 attack (not terrible)
and 2500 defense
(meh.)
As you may have heard before, there can only be one
face-up "Earthbound Immortal" on the Field,
controlled by you OR your opponent, and there must
be a face-up Field Magic Card on the Field, or this
card is destroyed (which is another fairly big
downside...)
This is the only monster your opponent can attack,
and it can attack your opponent directly (so 3000
attack is excellent) and if this card destroys a
monster, inflict damage to your opponent equal to
the destroyed monsters attack, so a nice burn effect
too.
Like I said last week, these monsters really aren't
splashable, even in their own Deck, as only one can
be on the Field at a time, but you can certainly
construct a Deck around them in pairs, or even just
around one at a time. They are a lot of fun.

Earthbound Immortal Ccapac
Apu
Today is the last Earthbound Immortal from this set.
He has a rather stunning 3000 ATK and 2500 DEF, but
that is again sub-standard for a level 10 monster.
He is a DARk Fiend so he can fit pretty well into
existing strategies, but you will definitely need to
tailor a deck to this guy as his effects pretty much
demand it. By the way, I looked up the rulings on
level 10 monsters, and at least the NEW rulebook
says that you use 2 tributes for ANYTHING of level 7
or higher. I apologize for anyone spreading
misinformation.
He has the standard Earthbound Immortal effects.
Only one on the field at a time, kill it if there is
not a Field Spell, it can't be attacked and it can
attack directly. The bonus effect is that when it
kills something in Battle, you inflict damage to
your opponent equal to it's ATK.
Well, it's effect is pretty bogus. Why attack a
monster at all when you can attack directly? Kalut
and Honest make it so that attacking monsters
becomes far more dangerous than simply attacking
directly. I suppose in a neutral game where neither
player has much going on this guy is an absolute
bomb, but I prefer to plan my games according to the
fact that such an event will not occur. So far Aslla
Piscu is far better and there are even better
Immortals to come, so this guy gets an F and moves
to the bottom of the Immortal's Greatest Hits list.

Earthbound Immortal
Ccapac Apu …
Now I SHOULD be biased with this card … He’s a fiend
(my favorite monster type), he’s Ultra rare, and he
looks like a Celestial (check your marvel comics!) …
plus he’s got 3000 ATK? Wow! Nothing could ruin this
moment, right? …
Wrong. As much as I want this card to be awesome,
the awesomeness stops pretty much right there. Oh,
he’s dark too. But … yeah. That doesn’t help him
out. The 3000 ATK is great, but because of his huge
level, it’ll take 3 tributes just to normal summon
him. Ccapac Apu, along with the annoying name to
pronounce (I’ll just call him Apu), is just like the
other Immortals in that he needs a Field spell to be
active, cannot be selected as an attack target, and
can attack your opponent directly. But his “Unique”
effect is where he loses all his coolness. Any
monster he destroys in battle your opponent takes
extra damage = to that monster’s attack …
seriously?!?!? Are u kidding me??? THAT is his
effect? … Apu can attack DIRECTLY gosh darnnit!!! …
for 3000!!!!! Why on earth would he ever be wasting
his attack on another monster??
Best case scenario – your opponent's monster is in
Attack mode, so the end result (battle damage +
additional effect damage) will equal 3000 damage
anyway … so why not just attack directly!?!? If your
opponent’s monster is in DEF mode? – same question,
but even moreso!!
Now a lot of people may be saying – u don’t want to
leave monster on your opponent’s side of field if u
can avoid it. They could always tribute it for
something to hurt u if u give them the chance. And
this is very very true. But let’s face it – the life
expectancy for any monster in Yu-Gi-Oh WITHOUT self
protection isn’t very long to begin with. 2 or 3
turns if u are lucky. So if u have something like
Apu on the field, u want to make the most of him and
dish out those 3000 knuckle sandwiches as quickly
and often as possible before he’s g one. Ideally u
can finish your opponent in 1 or 2 turns with him.
Why waste a chance to hit for a sure 3000 by instead
attackign a monster and walking DIRECTLY into Ryko’s
flip effect … or a set Spirit Reaper …
Apu has no other skills, so his effect that
essentially only DIMINISHES his usefulness is a crap
effect. Thus, he’s one of the worst, if not THEE
worst of the Earthbound Immortals.

Yay a themed card I
seriously hate. Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu is my
least favorite of the Earthbound Immortals, Aslla
Piscu is my favorite. But we're reviewing Ccapac Apu
today, like all Earthbound Immortals, there can only
be one on the field at any given time and if there
is no field spell on the field then its destroyed.
Also like all Earthbound Immortals, they cannot be
selected as attack targets and can attack directly.
This clashes with Ccapac Apus effect, which is why I
dont like this card. If he destroys a monster by
battle, the opponent takes damage equal to the
destroyed monsters attack. This doesn't seem to make
much sense, I mean sure it is a threat in more than
one way, but I'd rather just attack directly and im
sure a lot of people would too. Its an ok card but I
dont think I'd ever use it. Aslla Piscu is much
better.
