Closing the week, we come back to Assault Mode, but
here we haven't reviewed the non Assault Mode, so
this is a genuine 2-for-1, so I hope you enjoy it.
Anyway, let's take a look at our stats.
Arcanite Magician
Level 7
Light-Spellcaster-Effect
Synchro: 1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Spellcaster-type
monsters 400 attack 1800 defense
When Synchro Summoned, place two Magic Counters on
it. This card gains 1000 attack on it for each Magic
Counter (which is great, as you now have 2400 attack
and it doesn't say anything about a max number of
counters, so more on that shortly).
You can removed one counter to destroy one card your
opponent controls, although alas, each removed
counter lowers this cards attack by 1000 points. But
it still isn't terrible, and we'll talk more about
that momentarily too.
The Assault Mode is Level 9 with 900 attack and 2300
defense. Again, you get two Magic Counters for 1000
attack each, boosting to 2900 here, which is
impressive, but by removing both counters, you
destroy all cards your opponent controls, which is
very impressive.
These two are just screaming for an
Offensive/Defensive Stall Deck to be built around
them, maybe with some Burn, and they are just
waiting
to be truly unlocked. Apprentice Magician and others
can add and
recycle Magic counters to further make these
playable. I mean, the sky IS the limit here.
Ratings:
Traditional: 2.5/5 Not terrible, a little slow, and
more difficult.
Advanced: 3.75/5 Viable, and possibly deadly.

Arcanite Magician/ Arcanite Magician/Assault Mode
We have another twofer for you today, Arcanite
Magician and it's Assault Mode counterpart. Arcanite
Magician has 400 ATK, 7 stars and is a DARK
Spellcaster. Fortunately, if it has Spell COunters
on it it gains 1000 per, so it really is not as weak
as it's stats make it out to be.
It does get Spell Counters from it's summon, and
that puts it at 2400 ATK. You can add to it by
putting Spell Counters on it with cards like
Apprentice Magician and Pitch Black Power Stone.
This means he has almost unlimited power, and that
is before his other effect. You can remove a Spell
Counter from him to destroy a card your opponent
controls.
Combined with the new Spellcaster deck, you can
really abuse his effect, effectively clearing the
field for a massive attack. He does get weaker as
you use the Spell Counters, but the trade-off is
more than worth it. I think that in Spellcaster
decks this guy takes the palce of Black Rose Dragon
as you still have a monster to use after you play
him.
For the Assault Mode, he gains 500 ATK and still
only gets two counters. However, you can remove
those two counters to destroy ALL cards your
opponent controls. This seems like a major upgrade,
but it really isn't. You lose a lot of control over
your Magician's ATK as well as being a lot harder to
Summon. You CAN use him, but the original is good
enough you really dont need to.

We have another two for one today. Arcanite
Magician and it’s assault mode version. First we
shall look at Arcanite Magician. If you ever see me
posting on any Forums, you would know how much I
love this card. I have Monarchs built right now, and
the deck can bring this guy out with ease. Arcanite
is essentially a Monarch, except a little better!
Something easy as a Gravekeeper’s Spy and Psychic
Commander will bring this animal out. And trust me,
getting those two guys on the board is sooo easy.
You guys may be thinking, well once I pop two cards
with his effect, he is totally useless. WRONG. I use
the Apprentice Engine in my build just for this guy.
Having Arcanite on the board then summoning
Apprentice Magician and giving him a counter is just
sick. You should be able to keep him on the board
with things like Bottomless Trap Hole and
Threatening Roar so you can keep pumping him up. If
you are more of a fun player than competitive, you
can even use
Pitch Black Power Stone for some nasty stuff. You
can even summon Breaker and steal his counter with
Arcanite to pop something. I see unlimited potential
in this card, hence the rating I will give him

Now on the other hand, I don’t like the
Assault mode version at all. His attack is bleh
considering what all you have to do to drop him.
Everything I said about refilling the regular
Arcanite Magician applies here. But if I wanna pop
the board, I will bring out Black Rose Dragon. I
can’t see using up that much card advantage to bring
this Assault Mode monster up. His effect is still
nice and if you wanna use it go for it. I am just
the type that thinks about card advantage

Just like Tempest Magician, Arcanite Magician must
be Synchro Summoned with a non-Tuner Spellcaster
monster. When he has been Synchro Summoned, put 2
Spell Counters on him and he'll gains 1000 ATK for
each. Also you can remove a spell counter from
anywhere to destroy a card on your opponent's side
of the field.
This is a great card when you have Pitch Black Power
Stone. Remove all 3 Spell Counters to destroy 3
cards and keep Arcanite Magician's ATK 2400 or
destroy 2 card and get another 1000 ATK. The only
thing that really hurts is that its level 7, other
than that its a great Synchro for Spellcasters.

Arcanite Magician/Assault Mode will destroy all
cards on your opponent's side of the field by
removing 2 Spell from himself instead from anywhere.
Not bad, but it would be better to keep the Synchro
on the field because it has a more versatile effect
and is easier to summon.

Arcanite Magician …
A new Spellcaster type Synchro that we have going
here, and a pretty good one at that!
His basic stats don’t make him much to look at … 7
stars ain’t bad when it comes to Synchro summoning,
but I just like the 6’s and 8’s better. 400 ATK is
SOOO horrenduss that I’m not even gonna SPELL it
right! (and I totally COULD too if I wanted, cuz
I’ve got spell check on this thing!) But all this
isn’t a problem when u get to his effect, cuz
Arcanite is kinda like a SUPER Breaker the Magical
Warrior. His effect will give him 2 spell counters (insteada
just 1), and each one will give him an extra 1000
ATK. So when comes out the box, he’ll really have
2400 ATK. Respectable enough, I suppose … although a
bit low for 7 stars … BUUUT then we get to part TWO
of his power, and he can remove a counter to destroy
your opponent’s card. That’s awesome. Of course -
using up those counters will then drop his strength
… But hopefully u’ll be clearing the field of
opposition to make way for a broader move.
Oh, but peep this! U can remove a spell counter from
ANY card u control in order to destroy stuff. So u
can use Breaker’s counter (if u have him out at the
same time) can now pop a monster instead of just a
spell/trap. Apprentice Magician? – U can summon him,
shift his counter to Arcanite, bringing him to 3400
to attack with, or just throw that spell bomb at
whatever u don’t like. Anyone remember something
called - Pitch Black Power Stone? Yeah, dig it out
of your junk pile, cuz it just found its soul-mate
in Arcanite Magician.
If that wasn’t enough – He’s also of the Light
attribute, so Honest has got his back too, if need
be.
Spellcaster deck? – Do it. Believe it.
Traditional: 2/5
Advanced: 4/5
Arcanite Magician – Assault Mode …
Well this one is actually inferior to the Synchro
version. He gets the 2 counters like Arcanite that
pump him up by 1000 a piece, making him, in the end,
2900 ATK (500 points stronger than Arcanite Synchro),
but that’s all he’s got on basic Arcanite. Ya see,
by sp ending 2 counters, u can wipe your opponent’s
field clean. That’s nice and all, but that then
leaves this Assault version nearly naked, with only
900 ATK cuz u HAVE to spend BOTH counters to make it
work. Even worse – they can only be sent off this
card itself, while basic Arcanite could throw spell
bombs from anything in your possession with counters
on it.
Is there anything ELSE wrong with this card? – Yep!
Once destroyed (like all Assault Modes) u can get
back the original Synchro Arcanite … but since he
wasn’t “Synchro summoned” (as is the requirement to
get his counters), Arcanite will come back with a
lame 400 ATK and no counters to pop anything.
I suppose u could One-Two punch by Synchro summoning
Arcanite, spend his counters to destroy stuff, and
then use the Assault Mode trap to bring out Arcanite
Magician Assault Mode at 2900 to a relatively empty
field … but u would need a committed Assault Mode
Deck to make it worthwhile … and … forget20it. He
sucks.
Arcanite Magician, wow what a card. One of my
favorite cards from the set just because I like the
whole Spell Counter idea. When its Synchro Summoned
you place 2 Spell Counters on it and it gets 1000
attack for each counter on it. And by removing a
Spell Counter from a card you control you can
destroy an opponents card. Well I dont know about
you but I think this cards pretty darn good, dont ya
think?
Coming soon, the Spellcasters Command structure deck
will be released along with the Magical Citadel
Endymion. Which for each Spell Card activated it
gets a Spell Counter, on top of that if you would
remove Spell Counters from the field for an effect,
you can remove them from Magical Citadel Endymion
instead. Now think, Arcanite Magician plus the
unlimited number of Spell Counters Magical Citadel
Endymion, thats a pretty deadly combo. Especially
with cards like Toon Table of Contents which easily
adds 3 Spell Counters to cards that get counters
when a Spell Card is activated.
I guess the card is a pretty amazing card even
though its a level 7. Most Spellcaster players will
probably use 3 The Tricky for their level 5 to go
with their level 2 tuners. So its still pretty easy
to summon.
Arcanite Magician/Assault Mode is differs from the
Synchro and has a rather poor effect so I really
dont want to go into detail on this one. It removes
2 counters from just it to destroy all cards your
opponent controls. All cards they control is nice
but still, I'd prefer a counter from anywhere else
on my field rather than weakening it to destroy all
cards my opponent has. Even with its 2300 defense.
