Dark Paladin

Red Dragon Archfiend--Assault Mode, arguably the only Assault Mode monster with playing, aside from Stardust, who is a Dark Level 10 Dragon with 3500 attack and 2500 defense and can only be Special Summoned with "Assault Mode Activate."

Now, before I start the review, sickest...picture...ever...(and I have said that before, but not often.) Anyway, Red Dragon Archfiend has a nice little nuclear bomb attached to him, which makes him even more deadly than his non Assault Mode counteraprt.

All right, 3500 attack is incredible, and 2500 defense is reasonably solid, but low for a Level 10 monster. Anyway, this card attacks, and after Damage Calculation, he nukes all monsters on the Field, and if that's not enough, the original Red Dragon Archfiend replaces him.

Thankfully that "after Damage Calculation" phrase was inserted or he would be nearly invincible. Watch out for him folks, he's big, he's deadly, and he's hella strong.

General Zorpa Red Dragon Archfiend/ Assault Mode

This is the third best Assault Mode monster. He is a level 10 DARK Dragon with 3500 ATK and 2500 DEF, which are huge. He does have all of the usual Assault Mode text, meaning that he can only be Summoned with Assault Mode Activate and if he dies you get the original Archfiend back.

It's effect is where you get interesting. You destroy all other monsters after the damage calculation after he attacks. This will destroy your own monsters as well, but he is great for breaking through an entrenched opponent. Plus, he can afford to be reckless because you will just get your Red Dragon back if he dies.

As it is, I would not go through the trouble of playing him. Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode is far superior. Since he would kill your own monsters, you generally will want to play Colossal Fighter/Assault Mode instead. There is really not a reason to play him over the other Assault Mode monsters.

Red Dragon Archfiend/ Assault Mode …

As far as the Assault Mode cards go? I’d say he’s one of the better ones. Not as good as Stardust or Colossal, but at least the equal of Hyper Psychic … maybe a tad better …

3500 ATK – what more could u ask for? Dark – absolutely the finest attribute a monster could ever want. And his base – Red Dragon Archfiend – one of the best and most popular of the Sychros … so u already have the building blocks of a great monster. He then needs the Assault mode activate trap in order to be special summoned, but that’s … whatever. U need it for ALL the Assault Modes, so u really have to just get over that already! OK?!?

After that? – U have a giant attacker with a Raigeki in his back pocket. He keeps the field clear of ALL opponents20monsters, no matter what mode they are in, and he doesn’t punish any of YOUR monsters for not attacking like the Red Dragon Archfiend Synchro does. And worst case scenario – like all the Assault Modes – if u lose him, u get the Synchro Base back, which is already excellent on its own.

The Assault Modes function best within a deck built specifically FOR them … but if u are doing so, then u really want to include this one. He’ll finish the game up very quickly once he cuts loose. Focusing on the Dark Attribute, I’d even build with a couple Phantoms of Chaos in there just to get the Assault Mode’s effect an extra time or 2, in the events that Red Dragon Archfiend Assault Mode gets sent to the graveyard.

Red Dragon Archfiend/Assault Mode Review:

Ok, out of all the Assault Mode monsters, this one is probably my least favorite. Of course all Assault Mode monsters are hard to summon and require a lot of work to summon out, but this card really isn't worth the work. It has some ups to it, being a solid 3500 attack beat stick and being able to destroy all other monsters on the field, but if you are trying to go for the win, destroying all your opponents monsters as well as all of yours except Red Dragon Archfiend/Assault Mode really isn't a good thing. If Red Dragon Archfiend/Assault Mode is the only card you control then yeah its destroy all other monsters effect isn't bad. There really isn't much else to say about this card since it more than likely will never see play in top decks, waste of space in the deck and can result in dead draws, as most Assault Mode monsters do. Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode is the best Assault Mode monster to go with if you are going to run any Assault Mode monsters in your deck.

This card is actually pretty good with SD/AM.
