Summoner Monk, is a Level 4, Dark attributed,
Spellcaster-type monster who has 800 attack (horrid)
and 1600 defense (almost nice) who is automatically
changed to defense position when Normal or Flip
Summoned, so it's not bad I suppose to have such a
low attack.
Now, let's go over the good things of this card
here. By discarding a Magic card from your Hand to
your Graveyard, you can Special Summon a Level 4
monster from your Deck to the Field...that's good,
and might even be splashable for other Decks.
As for the bad, you can't tribute this card. So you
have to wait for it to be destroyed, which probably
doesn't take a whole long time with the low attack
and defense. Additionally, the monster Special
Summoned can't attack the turn it appears on the
Field.
Honestly, just a pretty average card, and again, one
that probably isn't going to see much play...if any.

Today’s card up for review is Summoner Monk, the
card that should be on everybody’s minds right now!
This card is so good, you could even make a case for
it to be limited to one per deck, or even banned.
Where to even start on this card, how about the
Gladiator Beast deck. The main purpose for the monk
in here is to grab your copies of Rescue cat ASAP.
People haven’t been using it simply because you are
at a disadvantage in the mirror match, but there
shouldn’t be many Gb mirrors anymore. The next deck
that you will see this in, is the Magical Explosion
Otk. It is simple, if you can get to a copy of Royal
Magical Library, you will win the duel, unless
something drastic happens. Using two monks in there
gives you 5 ways to get to him, so why not use it?
The third deck that you would see featuring this
would be the Destiny monk deck. Reinforcement of the
Army going to one per deck hurt the deck in my
opinion, but they gained Summoner Monk! You can
either grab Stratos off of him, or go grab Rose,
Warrior Of Revenge for a quick Lv. 8 Synchro. The
last deck and without question the best of them all
would be the Cat Synchro deck, coming to tournament
play in June 2009 haha. This June, America will be
getting X-Saber Airbellum, a big mistake to release.
You can go Summoner monk pitch a spell to summon
another monk, discard a spell again to summon Rescue
cat. Then you pop the cat to summon two Airbellum,
and that alone willl net you 2 Level 7 Synchro’s.
May sounds like a lot, but trust me, it is very easy
to pull off. This card is broken beyond belief. You
could practically toss this into any deck that has
useful Level 4 Monster’s, and have a better shot at
winning because of it.

Summoner Monk …
He’s on the Semi-Limited list already … Is that cuz
he’s awesome?
Yep! What he is is basically an auto synchro summon.
You have your deck full of 4-star tuner monsters,
summon the Summoner Monk, then … yeah. 1+2 = 3. Red
Dragon Archfiend. Stardust Dragon. If it’s a level 8
Synchro – it’s “fish in a barrel” with this guy.
It’s that basic. The only problem u can have is if
your opponent sees it coming … but that’s an issue
with ANY card u are playing. Oh, and plus he’s Dark?
C’mon! You’re killin me here!
If there’s a ANOTHER use for this card? … Well, it
doesn’t matter. Cuz I just told u the best thing u
should be doing with it … Not that u didn’t already
know :)

Today we look at
probably one of the most popular new cards out
there, Summoner Monk. When its Normall Summoned or
Flip Summoned it is changed to defense position and
once per turn you can discard a spell to Special
Summon 1 level 4 monster from your deck and it cant
attack. This card literally makes Gladiator Beasts
even more of a force to be feared. It still is level
with Lightsworns and Blackwings, but without
Summoner Monk they would be slightly behind if not
barely up there with Lightsworns and Blackwings.
Summoner Monk made such an impact in Japan's
original RescueDAD or as some call it Rescue Synchro
or Synchro Cat. Everyone has different names for it,
I find RescueDAD is easy to remember and sounds
nice. Anyways, soon we'll have what made the
RescueDAD deck in Japan. X-Saber Airbellum, which is
a level 3 Beast-Type tuner. Summoner Monk makes it
easy to Synchro Summon level 6 Synchro monsters
thanks to Airbellum and Rescue Cat.
Thanks to Summoner Monk, a lot of deck possibilies
have been opened up. Gadgets, RescueDAD when
Airbellum is released, Gladiator Beasts and
Volcanics. These decks all come to mind as they have
cards that you can benefit from whether the monster
you summon attacks or not. The fact that there are a
lot of cards that are like that, makes Summoner Monk
a pretty amazing card.

Summoner Monk:
This card single-handedly makes decks good. Whether
you want to get something like Rescue Cat or Rose,
this card doesn't care. It just needs a Spell. The
card itself is a level 4, if you have another copy
along with two spells, you can possibly OTK with a
Rescue Cat into two X-Sabre Airbellums to make a
Dark Strike Fighter and another big level 7 Synchro.
Another nice thing is you can Set and then Crush
Card it. Normally you can't tribute Summoner Monk,
but when he's facedown his effect isn't applied.
