Dark Bribe ...
An oldie but goodie .... well not a SUPER oldie ...
although it IS a Super Rare, but ...
anyways ... Yeah, this card has been around for a
little bit. So most people know what it does, and
there has been some divide over whether or not it is
as good as or better than a very similar Counter
Trap - Solemn Judgment. The fact that its even
mentioned in the same breath as Solemn should tell
anyone who DOESNT know about Dark Bribe how good it
is. They both negate spells and traps just the same,
but I've always been on the side of liking Dark
Bribe OVER Solemn Judgment. Why? - Well i'm kinda
cheap sometimes, and Freeza hates paying for stuff
when he doesn't have to. Solemn will cost u half
your life points. While technically u can always
afford this, it can be fairly crippling, especially
if u use it too early on. Dark Bribe costs u
nothing. It only give your opponent another card.
True - sometimes that can help your opponent, but
more often it does not. That new card is nothing
they weren't going to draw on their next turn
anyway, and u just stopped them from doing what they
originally wanted to do. And if u used Dark Bribe at
the right time, it is usually to stop a big play
that your opponent won't be able to replicate with
whatever they draw next. Solemn has the advantage of
also being able to stop summoning, which is what
REALLY gives it favor in many people's eyes, which i
definitely understand ... but when it comes down to
it in the end, and both cards go head to head -
which do u prefer doing? - Killing someone's Solemn
Judgment with YOUR Dark Bribe after they just
flushed half their life points, or blocking
someone's Dark Bribe with your Solemn Judgment - aka
- paying half your life points, NOT getting to draw
that card that Dark Bribe would have given u, and
costing your opponent NOTHING, all in order to
successfully activate the card YOU were attempting
to activate in the 1st place.
Yeah ... same here :)
I know this doesn't END the debate over which is
better, but just know that Dark Bribe is excellent.
Its that piece of insurance, once its successfully
set, that your opponent isnt going to be able to
sneak out of whatever u have planned for them.
There's very very little they can do to stop it, and
it costs u nothing.
I heart Dark Bribe.

Warriors Strike is
finally released and this week we'll look at some of
the new cards as well as some amazing cards from the
deck. Speaking of amazing cards, this week is gonna
start off with Dark Bribe! Dark Bribe is Solemn
Judgments "friend" without the life point cost and
doesn't affect monsters. Negate a spell or trap and
the opponent draws a card. Simple effect really and
pretty decent. Its main flaw is just giving your
opponent that free card. Think about the math here.
Player B plays Heavy Storm. Player A responds with
Dark Bribe. Player B's Heavy Storm is negated and
draws 1 card. Dark Bribe is sent to the graveyard.
Player B loses Heavy Storm and gets a free draw,
that evens things out a bit on the number of cards
they lost just now, where as Player A loses Dark
Bribe and doesn't really gain anything, in fact its
a minus considering they drew a card to replace
their Heavy Storm and Player A got nothing back,
just protection of their back row. This is the main
reason why Dark Bribe isn't highly used, even now
with Solemn Judgment at 1. Solemn Judgment will
always be the superior because with a life point
cost, its cost is easy to meet, though a heavy cost
it is, and its generally a 1 for 1 and can also stop
more than just spells and traps. Dark Bribe is good
for Counter Fairy decks right now but other decks
not so much. Using just one teched in Solemn is
pretty much all people will do.

Dark Bribe
Here we have today's card of the day, Dark Bribe.
Negate the activation of an opponent's Spell or Trap
Card and destroy it. Your opponent draws 1 card.
Dark Bribe is a
powerful counter trap that just got reprinted in the
new Warrior structure deck. This card has always
been considered pretty good as it has the ability to
negate magic or trap cards at counter trap speed.
Unfortunately it was always overshadowed by solemn
judgment, and rightfully so. The biggest drawback
for this card is that even though it can negate, it
still makes you opponent break even. The best way to
play this card is to really clear the way for a game
ending move. Nothing will ruin your opponents day
worse than holding on to a powerful trap to stop you
only to have it negated by this guy.
Overall this card is very playable right now, but
you really need to be careful when you are using it.
It works great in counter faries and is the best non
limited counter in the game.
Traditional 3/5, Advanced casual 5/5, Advanced
competitive 4/5
Art: Very appropriate and unique art for a great
card 5/5 |

Ah I predicted we
would be reviewing Dark Bribe because of it's recent
reprint. Alright so here we have a +1 for your
opponent. A good -1 but a -1 none the less. Since
Solemn Judgment is at 1 Bribe is seeing some play in
anti meta decks that need protection from field
nukes. Unless you are playing anti meta or a deck
that needs spell and trap negation you should
probably stay away from this card because even
though it is great at negating a key play it screws
you in card advantage. If you MUST keep your spells
and traps around run this other wise just use
another one of your optoins (S/T destruction, My
Body As A Shield, Solemn, and Cold Wave.)
