Archlord Kristya
#SOVR-EN096 If you have exactly 4 Fairy-Type monsters in your Graveyard, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. When you do, add 1 Fairy-Type monster from your Graveyard to your hand. Neither player can Special Summon monsters. If this face-up card would be sent from the field to the Graveyard, it returns to the top of the owner's Deck, instead.

Archlord Kristya
Ah, with the Thanksgiving Holiday fast approaching I
look forward to a 10 day break filled with tequila
and tacos. Wait, is GZ high? Thanksgiving is
about turkey and family, not booze and Mexican food!
Well yes it is, but GZ is off to Cozumel for
Thanksgiving! Woohoo! Anyways, Thankyou to Pojo-Sama
for getting me this on this last Friday so I can do
this. Thanks Bill you're the best!
Anyways, to start off the week we have the
most powerful card in SOVR (Yeah I SAID it. Come on
you Dark Simorgh punks! Who got a spot in the top
16? What!). Archlord Kristya is a level 8 LIGHT
Fairy with 2800 ATK and 2300 DEF. These are good
stats, about average for a level 8. It would have
been nice to have 2500 DEF though. Stardust is
seeing an awful lot of play and it just would have
made this card a lot better if it could do that.
Anyways, onto the effects. You can Special Summon
her when you have EXACTLY 4 Fairies in the
graveyard. Note EXACTLY, this is the same as DAD.
When you Special Summon it in this way, return a
Fairy Monster in your graveyard to your hand.
Ideally this is Honest, as then you can defend
Kristya. Neither player can Special Summon monsters.
If it would be destroyed by battle when face-up, it
is instead returned to the top o fyour deck instead.
This card is really, really good. You combine this
with things like Athena and Valhalla you get a
pretty darn good deck. I actually wrote an article
on this deck, so shoot on over to my Feature
Articles page and check it out.
The grand result is that Kristya swarms the field,
gets stuff back from the graveyard, locks your
opponent down and is virtually unkillable. That is
what I LIKE in a monster card! This card can even be
good in Traditional as well, stopping pretty much
anything your opponent does. I plan on getting me a
playset of these, no matte rthe cost, so get some if
you can!

Archlord Kristya ...
The brand new heavy in town, and the best monster
to come out this set.
Very similar to the dark attributed big dogs that
made their way onto the scene a while back ... DAD,
Dark Creator, etc. Kristya can be special summoned
by having an exact amount of a certain type of
monster in your graveyard. Only instead of dark
attributed monsters, its Fairy types. But UNLIKE
those that came before, Kristya isn't tied to that
limitation. It can still be normal summoned, if need
be, or shortcutted to the field by any OTHER means u
use to special summon a monster these days.
Once ON the field u can see what a beast Kristya
is. 2800 ATK? - the definitive standard of your
"muscle" card in your deck. It'll clobber almost
anything. It's Light, so Honest backs up almost
anything else it can't handle. And its special
effect keeps the field clear of annoyances. Nobody
can special summon while it is face-up. We've seen
how Vanity's Fiend can get people's panties in a
bunch ... Even Thunder King Raio is annoying to try
and circumvent. Kristya is that much more awesome.
No e-teleports, no synchro summoning, no DADs, no
dandylions, no Judgment Dragons, none of that
Gigavising, not even that little treeborn frog,
Almost everything is dead. Blackwings still have
moves to make, just not as many as they'd like,
Not only that, but once special summoned by its
effect, u get to take 1 fairy in your grave back to
your hand. So u still have your normal summon. Pick
wisely because u are very close to locking up the
game.
And can u believe that this thing still has
ANOTHER effect? - Yep. When it would be sent from
the field to the graveyard, it can go to the top of
your deck instead. That means, if need be - it can
suicide with a DAD, and then on the next turn,
provided that u have 4 Fairies in your graveyard
again, Kristya can come back out to play.
Yeah, its awesome.
And, yeah. Picture is badass.

Monday
Archlord Kristya, one of the three cards we're
reviewing this week, that were picked by me. I've
been busy...work, holidays, grad school decisions
and things to take care of, but anyway, Kristya is
one hell of a monster. First, it's nice to see a
powerful Light monster who can wreak havoc on the
game.
Archlord Kristya has a very solid 2800 attack,
which is pretty standard, yet abusable on a monster
who is Level 8, and the 2300 defense isn't too
shabby either. Being a Fairy is great, as it namely
can combo with Honest, but that's not all. Now, we
have seen monsters before with the "Special Summon
by having exactly x (fill in the
attribute) monsters in your Graveyard...)
I'll point out again, exactly, in this case,
exactly four Fairy-type monsters. Now, Archlord
Kristya can really put your opponent in a world of
hurt. It can recycle a monster (or a Fairy anyway)
from your Graveyard back to your Hand. She prevents
both players from Special Summoning (and last I
checked Synchros were Special Summons...) which is
phenomenal.
Also, if you want to be really cautious, don't
play any monsters, and if Archlord Kristya would be
destroyed, she returns to the top of your Deck, and
you can start the fun all over again next turn.
Honestly, I think she could fare pretty well in
traditional too, as she can contend with those
Decks.

Archlord Kristya
Fairy/Effect
Level 8 LIGHT
If you have exactly 4 Fairy-Type monsters in your
Graveyard, you can Special Summon this card from
your hand. When you do, add 1 Fairy-Type monster
from your Graveyard to your hand. Neither player can
Special Summon monsters. If this face-up card would
be sent from the field to the Graveyard, it returns
to the top of the owner's Deck, instead.
Archlord Kristya became widely used during the
Lightsworn/Zombie format. Being a walking "Royal
Oppression" is what drew this card to many players.
First, the 4 Fairy requirement isn't a big issue
because if anything, it can still be Normal
Summoned. However, when it's special summoned,
adding the one fairy back to the hand can be
devestating, espcially if "Honest" was chosen.
Locking down Special Summons, the meat and potato of
several top-tier decks, is crippling. Add that it
can't be attacked over makes it a very devastating
card. Now, Kristya is used in "Perfect Herald"
decks. With "Herald of Perfection", "Archlord
Kristya" and "Royal Decree" out, you are in a near
perfect game state. It is almost impossible to lose
in that situation. However, Kristya can be used to
counter Herald decks. Let's say they activate "Dawn
of the Herald", pitch "Gyakutenno Megami" as the
cost, here you can chain a "Call of the Haunted" to
resurrect a fallen "Archlord Kristya" to stop Dawn
from going off. In this situation, your opponent
loses 2 cards while you have a 2800 beater you
opponent has to deal with.
Nonetheless, Kristya wins games because it locks
down one of the most important mechanics of the
game.
