Ban List week continues with Mezuki, who went from
being Restricted to Semi-Restricted. The obvious
reason here is to make up for the Banning of Card of
Safe Return. My theory about that is pretty much the
same.
Zombies weren't THAT powerful.
Banning Card of Safe Return made about as much sense
as Restricting Mezuki last Format. As for Mezuki
himself, the 1700 attack is respectable, Earth is
decent, although a bit odd on a Zombie, and removing
himself to Special Summon another Zombie is good
too.
Having the extra Mezuki obviously helps the Zombie
Deck, but one extra doesn't replace Card of Safe
Return...Zombie Decks are still going to be around
the top this Format I expect, but I'm not sure if
they will be number one.

Mezuki
This guy is a level 4 EARTH Zombie with 1700 ATK.
The effect is that if he is in the graveyard you can
remove him from play in order to Special Summon one
Zombie in your graveyard. This is MADNESS, or Sparta
I can't figure out which. This card was used in one
of the single most dominant OTK decks that have ever
been made. Actually, I am thanking my lucky stars
that Brionac has not reached our shores yet.
This card allows you to play cards like Dark Grepher,
Zombie Master and Plaguespreader Zombie to their
full potential, slinging away cards and then
bringing them back even before their graves were
dug. This card will see a lot of play. In fact, I am
predicting that Zombie decks could be one of the
better decks out there once the format solidifies.
Without Card of Safe Return this is not as good as
it was, but still can be ridiculous in the right
circumstances and amazing even in the wrong ones.
you do not even have to discard him, you can just
use him as basically a floater that will do amazing
things in the right situation. In short, this guy
rocks and will catapult Zombies light years into the
forefront of the gaming elite.

Today’s card up for
review is Mezuki. Just by reading the card, you
should see how valuable this card is to Zombies. A
competitive Zombie deck would be based off mass
summoning, and is a solid choice to search for.
Using Burial From The Different Dimension just
abuses this card even further. Get Mezuki and
Plaguespreader in your yard, and you are just going
to explode, and if you have a Burial in hand, it
will be a massacre pretty much haha. Simply put, you
use this card if you use Zombies

Mezuki ...
Man, Mezuki is a good card ... (anyone else suspect
that Mezuki is in actually Gladiator Beast Darius
who was killed and brought back as a Zombie??? ...
Seriously - compare the two!)
Anyways ... 1700 ATK is passable on a 4 star
monster. It can fight and dish out some respectable
damage when it has to. But Mezuki shines when he's
in the graveyard. Like any good Zombie he has fun
being dead, and removing him from the graveyard
allows for a special summon of any other Zombie
monster from your graveyard. No restrictions. No
limitations. No catches. A very simple ability that
opens up a whole plethora ("Jeffe? ... What is a
'plethora'?") of moves and combos. Combos that
usually result in the quick end of an opponent ...
Thus ... this is why we're reviewing him this week.

Its Tuesday and todays
Card of the Day is Mezuki, one of Zombies biggest
assets. Between Plaguespreader Zombie and Mezuki,
Zombies still have plenty of Synchro Summon
possibilities as well as its swarming ability. Being
able to send Mezuki to the graveyard with Zombie
Masters effect as well as with Foolish Burial, and
being able to search it with Pyramid Turtle helps
speed things up. Mezuki has two flaws however. Most
players now are running one or both D.D. Crow and/or
The Transmigration Prophecy. The second Mezuki hits
the graveyard, most players would play The
Transmigration Prophecy and send it back to the
deck. D.D. Crow would be more of a risk, since
zombie decks use Burial from a Different Dimension
to return removed Plaguespreader Zombie and Mezukis
back to their graveyard, however if they only have
one copy of Burial to use in their hand or on their
field(if set), D.D. Crow can take care of Mezuki the
second time it hits the graveyard. Having weaknesses
while in the graveyard are natural though, and
Mezuki is an absolute must for any Zombie deck.
