Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh Card of the Day

Flamvell Commando
#ANPR-EN086

This card cannot be Special Summoned. This card can only be Normal Summoned by Tributing 1 "Flamvell" monster you control. Once per turn, you can remove from play 1 monster in your Graveyard with 200 DEF to inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's ATK.

Dark Paladin
Tuesday

Flamvell Commando, leads an Army of random Flamvell creatures, including Cerebus, the dog from Hell, and this cyborg apocalyptic warrior...anyway, Flamvell Commando is a Fire attributed Pyro-type monster with 2200 attack (and 200 defense) which are both low for someone who would be a Commando...

Now, let's start with some bad...you can't Special Summon Flamvell Commando. Secondly, you can't Normal Summon this card unless you specifically tribute a Flamvell monster you control, which also hurts this cards playability.

Once per turn, you can remove a monster in your Graveyard with 200 defense to inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's attack. This card just has too much holding it back to be very effective, in my opinion. Obviously you would only play it in its own Deck, and it's pretty situational, even there.

Flamvell Commando ...

This card is a toughie ... Ya see ... 2200 ATK for 1 tribute ain't great ... at all ... But u'd only be playing the Commando for his burn effect, in cohesion with some make of a Flamvell Deck ... which COULD be pretty good ... We have the Firedog, which is a great card ... and we have ... uhm .. uhm ... wait, yeah - that's the problem. No other freakin Flamvell monsters to make use of! Now the Commando can remove ANY 200 DEF card from your graveyard to dish out the burn, so you aren't limited by that. And i don't know what the strongest 200 DEF monster in the game is (although, in the very least u can remove a Commando in your grave to inflict 2200 points of damage), but the problem is really that u can never make use of this effect till he GETS to the field. And right now - because of all the other words in his effect - there's only 1 monster in the whole game that u can tribute to ever GET him out. That doesnt make for a very good card.

I do recognize that he has potential. And depending what they release down the line and how much support they give the Flamvells, he could become a lot better. Maybe take another look at the Commando this time next year. But for now? ...

Its Tuesday folks and you know what that means, another Card of the Day review and today we have Flamvell Commando, a rather unsupported deck right now seeing as how the only Flamvell monsters we currently have are Commando and Firedog until Hidden Arsenal comes out in November, once Hidden Arsenal comes out, Flamvells will have a searchable level 4 tuner monster from Firedogs effect, Flamvell Magical. With the new support Flamvells may just be a good deck, but today we review their only ultra rare monster. Flamvell has a real big chink in its armor so to speak, it cannot be special summoned so it says no to Firedog, and it has to be summoned by tributing a Flamvell monster. As I said we only have 2 Flamvell monsters right now, that makes things rather difficult for this card. Now once the deck gets more support, Flamvells main effect will be pretty kick butt. Once a turn Flamvell Commando can remove 1 monster with 200 defense in your graveyard from play to inflict damage to the opponent equal to the removed monsters attack. This can do some pretty heavy damage considering Commando itself has 2200 attack and Firedog has 1900 and both are removable targets for Commandos effect(so long as another Commando resides in the grave of course). Till Flamvells get their support, this card cant do much right now.

Traditional: 2/5
Advanced: 2.5/5(till support is released)
